FC 25 HOW TO BUY PACKS
Purchasing packs is extremely easy, but most of the time, the expectations are disappointed.
How to Buy
Ultimate Team revolves around collecting cards that represent the players we want on our team. These items can be obtained through various modes, such as rewards or completing challenges. However, the quickest way is to purchase packs from the store.
How to Buy Packs
- From the Ultimate Team main screen, press R1/RB to go to [Store];
- Once in the store, use R1/RB to select [Browse];
- Select the the category and pack you want;
- Choose the payment method: coins or FC Points.
The Best Times to Buy Packs
Not all times are equally good when it comes to buying packs. It’s advisable to buy and save your packs to open when more and better cards are available. This usually happens during an event. Depending on how good the special cards of that event are, it may be a better or worse time for you to take the risk.
However, it’s not just enough for an event to be active for it to be a good time to buy. It’s important that the best packs are available in the store. As a general rule, this happens on Fridays, but also less frequently on Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesdays.
How to Save
If you’re a regular pack buyer, subscribing to the EA Play service might be a smart move as it offers various benefits, including a direct 10% discount on all your purchases. Over a season, the savings could be significant.
There are rumors circulating that EA employs some extreme tactics to boost pack sales, such as the belief that you have better odds of packing a good player when you purchase with FC Points. However, these are only rumors and cannot be proven.
Should I Buy FC 25 Packs?
When making a purchase, you’re essentially trading something of value for something else you perceive as more valuable. However, in Ultimate Team, the uncertainty lies in not knowing what you’ll receive in the pack you purchase. This unpredictability can lead to unmet expectations.
You can buy packs using either coins or FC Points. When using coins, the hope is to pull cards worth more than the pack’s price, aiming for profit. However, this outcome is rare, making buying packs with coins generally unwise.
On the other hand, purchasing FC 25 packs with FC Points offers the same odds of getting good cards, but with real money instead of coins. It’s akin to buying FC coins without knowing the exact cost. Ultimately, the decision to buy FC 25 packs depends on your willingness to spend real money, as only you can determine if it’s worth it.
How Profitable Can It Be?
Conducting a reliable study on this subject is challenging due to the need for a large sample size. For instance, if you were to open packs worth 3 million coins and happen to pull a valuable card like Pelé in an additional pack, your findings would be skewed. It’s impractical for an individual to open enough packs to draw conclusive insights on whether buying packs is worthwhile.
Our study, supplemented by community experiences, suggests that, on average, players recoup only 55% to 65% of their pack purchase value, with the remaining 40% constituting EA’s profit, akin to the house edge in sports betting, typically ranging from 10% to 15%. However, EA’s profit margin is notably higher, exceeding 40%.
Never Got Lucky?
The consensus among seasoned Ultimate Team players aligns with our perspective on the poor strategy of purchasing Football Club packs. However, there are still many less experienced players who hold differing opinions. They may question why numerous individuals showcase only their exceptional pack pulls, leading to the misconception that all packs contain valuable cards, which is far from reality.
Additionally, some players mistakenly believe that buying FFC 25 packs is the sole path to amassing wealth in the game. They observe other players on the market selling expensive cards and assume they accrued their wealth through pack purchases. In truth, these players are likely adept traders or may have engaged in less reputable practices.
Despite awareness of the drawbacks of buying packs, many players continue to do so. This persistence can be attributed to the innate human tendency to seek the path of least resistance and the desire for social validation and integration within the gaming community.
Are Players Forced to Buy Packs?
It’s essential to remember that Football Club is the core business for EA Sports. They employ aggressive marketing tactics to drive pack sales, leveraging social media to showcase lucky pulls and endorsing YouTubers who unbox top players. Yet, the odds of obtaining such cards are slim, as EA strategically limits their availability, prompting players to repeatedly try their luck. Even introducing bonuses like the loyalty point system further incentivizes pack purchases.
This cycle is perpetuated by YouTubers aiming for fame and EA’s promotion of successful pack openings, creating a narrative of pack luck. Many players, influenced by these narratives, buy packs hoping for similar outcomes, often spending substantial sums without success.
We’re not advocating against pack purchases; they sustain the Ultimate Team mode and are necessary for card circulation. However, it’s crucial to understand that building a competitive squad via packs requires significant investment, either in time or money. While not inherently flawed, it’s an expensive route, viable mainly for those unconcerned about expenses.
Alternatives exist, such as selling rewards or engaging in trading, though they’re either time-consuming or risky due to potential bans for buying coins. Ultimately, while packs offer excitement, they’re not the most efficient path to building a formidable team.
