FIFA 13 Ultimate Team Consumables are all the game items that applied to players, managers or even the whole team, improve certain features of these.
These cards are available in packs and in the market and can be applied from the menu “Team”.
You can not have simultaneously more than 50 items of this type (not counting the trade pile), except if you buy the EASFC Catalogue item that increases the size of the consumables pile up to 75.
You can use any of the three levels of these cards (gold, silver or bronze) independently of players’ or coach’s level. For example: you can apply a bronze contract card to a gold player.
Training and Development cards may be purchased in packs or in auctions

Player Training Cards
How the player training cards work
Basically, this card corresponds to minister one specific technical training to the player. Depending of the card type, we can increase one or all six player’s technical attributes.
Each player training card can only be applied to one football player. Its effect is reflected in the following match, expiring after that. If you apply a training card to a player that stays on the reserves or on the bench, he will continue to benefit from the training effect until he plays.
The players cards in whom a training card was applied are distinguished from the others by having a coloured rectangle (not red) in the rating area and by having an arrow near the attribute that have been improved.
A player can have more than one attribute simultaneously improved. In order to make it possible, you should apply the all attributes training card or more that one of the remaining cards. But it is not possible to boost the same attribute more than once.
Example
In the example of the image below, we applied a gold rare training card that increases all attributes by +10. In dribbling, the improvement was only +8 since no attribute may be greater than 99.

Player Training Cards
There are 21 different player training cards corresponding to seven of each one of the three levels.

Is it worth buying Player Training Cards ?
In our opinion, no.
It is very common to find beginners buying these cards thinking that its effect is permanent. It is not. It only last for one match. It is too expensive for a single match.
This type of card is essentially useful for the most important matches and when there are high prizes involved. As if it were an investment.
If you have head coaches in your club, you can get a bonus up to 50% when you apply a training card.
Goalkeeper Training Cards
How the goalkeeper training cards work
Basically, this card corresponds to minister one specific technical training to the goalkeeper. Depending of the card type, we can increase one or all six gk’s technical attributes.

Manager Training Cards
How the manager training cards work
The manager training cards allow you to change the preferred formation of the manager to the one that is written on the training card. For each card that you spend, you can change formation once. You can change the manager formation as many times as you want.

Is it worth buying Managers’ Training Cards ?
In our opinion, yes.
A manager can contribute up to 21 points for the team chemistry. The most important factor to this is matching manager and team formation.
It makes sense to apply a manager training card to our main manager when we have set our formation. To apply one of these cards to other managers is completely useless.
Position Training Cards
How the position training cards work
The position training cards allow you to change the preferred position of a player to the one that is written on the training card. For each card that you spend, you can change position once. You can change the player position as many times as you want.
One of the most important factors in the chemistry is if players are playing in their preferred positions. Although they could play at any position, the team’s chemistry and the individual chemistry are strengthened if they are placed in the position written on their cards or, at least, in similar position. As it is not always possible to make these positions match, there are training cards that help you to solve this problem. These cards are equivalent to trainings to adapt players to a new position in the field. By applying one of these cards to a player, we are changing the preferred position written on his card.
However, it is necessary to have in mind that the position training cards contain informations about the old and the new positions. If a player’s favorite position doesn’t match with the old position written on the training card, we can not apply that card to him. In practice, this means, for example, that we will never be able to become a central back in a striker.

In the example of the image below, we applied two position training cards to Arjen Robben. His preferred position is no longer the RF. Now it is the RM.

There are 20 position training cards. All of them are gold rare.

Is it worth buying Position Training Cards ?
In our opinion, yes.
When a player is assigned to play in a strange position for himself, the chemistry is strongly affected. Independently of his connections with team mates, he will never have more than individual chemistry 5. Which is very bad. Moreover, it will also affect team chemistry.
If you bought or received a player with a different position from the one that he will play, apply him a position training card in order to, at least, adapt him to a similar position (see the table of similar positions).
In other hand, if your players already have individual chemistry 9, you should not waste coins with position training cards.

How the contact cards work
A contract card allows a player or a manager to perform a certain number of matches.

The players or managers cards that get out of contracts, are distinguished from the others by having a red rectangle with a sign in the rating area.
The number of matches that a contract card have written can not be higher than 99.
Strategically it is a card with great importance, because it is the only consumable required in order to be able to play matches.
It is advantageous to apply a contract card of the same level of the player card. However, it doesn’t need to be like that. For example: you can apply a bronze contract card to a gold player.
The players contract cards can only be used on players and the managers contract cards can only be used on managers.
Example
In the example of the image below, we applied a contract card to Ramadel Falcão. As he is a gold player, the card give him the chance to play more 28 matches. If he was a bronze or a silver player, the card would give him only 24 matches. If his club has stored rare managers, he would benefit a extra bonus.

Is it worth buying Contract Cards ?
You have no choice. You must to buy it.
The contracts are the only consumables cards that you must to buy. As nothing replaces them, if you want to play matches you must purchase contracts.
The big trick to not spend a lot of coins in contracts is to store rare managers in your club that give you a bonus of 50%. Furthermore always study the relation price vs number of matches. Sometimes a silver contract card may be the cheapest option for your gold player.
Once the contract cards are not cheap, you should take some cares following these tips: by the same price, always choose the players or managers cards that give you more matches; do not apply contract cards with many matches to players or managers who you do not know if will be in your club much more time; do not waste contract cards if it exceed the 99 matches; and finally, but not least, only make substitutions that are strictly necessary.
Team Talk Cards (Morale)
How the team talk cards work
The results determine the morale of the players. When the victories do not appear, the players demoralize and their performances are affected. Since it playing badly brings more losses, the tendency is for the mental state to degrade and it will be very difficult to reverse this trend.
In these situations, but not only, it is very useful the injection of morale by motivational speaking. They can be given individually or for the entire group by specific team talks cards.
On the team menu, the morale is rated as low, neutral, high or very high. But the morale of a players ranges between 0 and 99. You can view the exact value that measures the morale of a player, going to his Bio or to “Apply Item” Menu.
The team talk cards can be applied to any player, as many times you wish. When you apply a team talk card to a squad, the morale of all the players is improved, including the players of the bench or the reserves.

When it is not enough, you may need to buy and to apply team talk cards. In that case, and since you want to increase the morale of at least two players, the team talk squad cards are the best option. Pay attention that, in general, it is a waste to buy team talk gold cards to a player. It is very uncommon to find a player that needs a improvement of 70 morale points, so you should analyse very well your needs before buying morale cards.

Fitness Cards
How the fitness cards work
When the physical condition of one or more players is low, but they are not injured, it is possible to recover them thanks to the fitness card.

The fitness cards can be applied to any player, as many times you wish. When you apply a fitness card to a squad, the physical condition of all the players is improved, including the players of the bench or the reserves.

We do not recommend to use players with less than 80 fitness points. The ideal is to replace them by others when their fitness is less than 90. It is therefore important to have a squad good enough to allow a rotation without much loss of quality.
When it is not enough, you may need to buy and to apply fitness cards. In that case, and since you want to increase the physical condition of at least two players, the fitness squad cards are the best option. Pay attention that, in general, it is a waste to buy fitness gold cards to a player. It is very uncommon to find a player that needs a improvement of 60 fitness points, so you should analyse very well your needs before buying these development cards.

Healing Cards
How the healing cards work
Any player who participates in a match can suffer an injury.
When this happens, the number of matches in which he will be missing appears written on his player card. The only solution to not have to be deprived of that player during that period is to apply him a healing card.
This type of card is divided into two groups: one for healing a specific injury and other to healing all the injuries. The first reduces downtime on the number of matches written on the card as the injury is in the foot, leg, knee, arm, head or back. The second has the same effect, but heals all the injuries that players suffer.
If the difference between the number written on the healing card and the number of downtime matches written on player card is equal or higher than zero, the player may play immediately.
The injured players, are distinguished from the others by the red rectangle with a sign in the rating area of their cards.
