Ones to Watch


The Ones to Watch promo is the first event of the FUT cycle. It goes out in the launch date and celebrates with dynamic items, objectives and SBCs the most promising players who have been permanently transferred in the latest transfer window.

These special items are released on the launch date without any improvement. However, they receive upgrades in the following cases:

  • When the player receives a new TOTW or MOTM item;
  • If the club wins three out of their next eight domestic league games;
  • If the national team wins a match in the World Cup 2022.

Frequently Asked Questions
Ones to Watch, commonly abbreviated to OTW, is an Special item category assigned to a very limited selection of players, replacing their regular cards on specific times. These cards are released on the game launch and can receive upgrades.
FIFA 23 Ones to Watch players consist of a curated selection of the highest-profile and most promising players who have been permanently transferred or on full season loans between clubs in the most recent transfer window.
FIFA 23 Ones to Watch items are released with the same rating and stats as their base items. They can be upgraded later if they meet specific conditions.
A few players are announced in August, while the rest is only unveiled on the day before the official launch.
FIFA 23 Ones to Watch items are released as a single team in packs when the game goes out and a mini-release two days later. They remain available in packs until the end of the promo. After this, they are replaced by their base items in packs and are still available via the FUT transfer market.
Ones to Watch items are upgraded based on:

  • Performance-based Special items
    OTW cards are upgraded every time the player receives a new TOTW or MOTM item (until the end of the 2022-23 season). OTW items will NOT be upgraded based on POTM, Award Winner, Record Breaker, TOTT, SBC, or other in-game event selection.

  • Wins to Watch
    OTW Items are eligible for a one-time ‘Wins to Watch’ upgrade. If their new club wins three out of their next eight domestic league games, starting from September 30, they receive a +1 boost.

  • Nations to Watch
    OTW Items are eligible for a one-time ‘Nations to Watch’ upgrade. If their national team wins any game at the FIFA World Cup 2022, they receive a +1 boost. They don’t have to feature in the game, or be part of their nation’s squad to be eligible for the upgrade.
Once a player gets a new Team of the Week or Man of the Match item, EA only takes a few minutes to update his OTW card. Wins to Watch and Nations to Watch upgrades take place on the first Wednesday after the achievement.
If you pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition, you will receive a Guaranteed OTW Item (untradeable) when OTW kicks off on September 30. The OTW Item you receive will be based on when you open your pack:

  • team 1 only, if you open from September 30 to October 2;
  • team 1 + mini-release 1, if you open after October 2.
On days with pack content changes, the pack content will update at 17:00 UTC.
The Ones To Watch Player Item type attributes and latest applicable in-form rating will be unaffected. However, his OTW player item type will remain at the players previous club until he gets an applicable in-form at which point the player’s club, crest and the dynamic image will be updated
The Ones To Watch Player Item type will remain at the club he was previously at and he will not receive any further in-forms. His Ones To Watch Item type will continue to carry the last applicable in-form rating he received.
