Team Rating and Star Rating

The FC 26 Squad Rating is a system designed to evaluate and compare the overall strength of different squads. It calculates how strong a team is expected to be by considering the individual ratings of each player in the starting eleven and on the bench.

These ratings are combined to produce a single Squad Rating, which serves as an indicator of the team’s potential on the pitch. However, it’s important to note that this rating isn’t always definitive — a high-rated player might not suit every playstyle or tactic, meaning that the most highly rated team isn’t always the most effective in actual gameplay.

In FC 26, Squad Ratings range from 0 (lowest) to 99 (highest). This number is displayed in the top-left corner of the active squad menu, offering a quick reference for your team’s quality.

To get the most accurate Squad Rating, it’s best to check directly through your console, companion app, or web app. Avoid relying on third-party squad builders like FUTgg or FUTBin, as their calculations may differ and lead to inconsistencies.

Understanding your Squad Rating can help you make better decisions when building or optimizing your team for various game modes and challenges in Football Club 26.

In addition to the Squad Rating, FC 26 also assigns a Star Rating, offering another general measure of your team’s quality. These two ratings are closely related, as illustrated in the table below.

How is it Calculated?

The Team Rating is essentially the average of all 18 players’ overall ratings, adjusted by a correction factor. While the exact calculation method isn’t publicly disclosed, here’s a simplified explanation.

To calculate your Squad Rating, consider the ratings of all 18 players — the starting eleven and substitutes, including any loan players. First, find the average rating by adding up all 18 ratings (SUM) and dividing by 18. Any player rated above this average contributes positively to the correction factor (CF), based on how much their rating exceeds the average.

The general formula for calculating the FC 26 Squad Rating is:
SR = (SUM + CF) / 18

Follow these six steps to make it easier:
  1. Sum the ratings of all 18 players.
  2. Divide the total by 18 to find the average rating (do not round).
  3. For each player rated above the average, calculate how much higher they are and sum these values (this is the Correction Factor, CF).
  4. Add the CF to the original sum from Step 1.
  5. Round the new total to the nearest whole number, then divide by 18.
  6. Round down the result to get your final FC 26 Squad Rating.

Let’s walk through an example to make it clearer. Imagine a squad with 14 players rated 80 and 5 players rated 85.

  1. Sum the Ratings
    14 × 80 + 5 × 85 = 1,465
  2. Calculate the Average
    1,465 ÷ 18 = 81.39
  3. Determine the Correction Factor (CF)
    Each 85-rated player exceeds the average by 3.61 (85 – 81.39), and there are five such players:
    CF = 5 × 3.61 = 18.05
  4. Add CF to the Total Sum
    1,465 + 18.05 = 1,483.05
  5. Round and Divide
    Rounded sum: 1,483 → 1,483 ÷ 18 = 82.39
  6. Round Down
    Final Squad Rating = 82
