The FIFA 23 WC Path to Glory event features World Cup Hero items in packs. Players can also get WC PTG items, which can be upgraded based on the progress of their national teams in the competition.

WC Path to Glory


The WC Path to Glory event is the first FUT promo dedicated to the World Cup Qatar 2022. It takes place in the two weeks before the competition.

The promo is most known by the release in packs of the WC Hero versions. These special items are released with a starter improvement in rating and stats, when compared to base versions.

However, during this promo players can also get World Cup Path to Glory live items. These special cards, assigned to each nation playing the World Cup, receive progression upgrades based on each nation’s progress throughout the journey.

FIFA 23 WC Hero cards are a Special item category assigned to a minimal selection of players, replacing their regular cards at specific times. These cards feature rating and stat updates. .
FIFA 23 WC Path to Glory cards are a Special item category assigned to players playing on the World Cup 2022.

These cards feature rating and stat updates and have the potential for further upgrades based on team performances in the World Cup Qatar 2022.
WC Hero items don’t upgrade.
These special items receive upgrades in the following cases:

  • Qualify from Group Stages;
  • Win Round of 16;
  • Win Quarter Finals;
  • Win Semi Finals;
  • Win the Final.
Path to Glory player items will only receive upgrades by progressing to the next round. If they’ve received an upgrade for progressing to a given round and their nation loses/is knocked out, they will not receive any further upgrades. Path to Glory player items that reach the Third Place Play Off match will have lost in the Semi Finals, eliminating them from any future upgrades.
Path to Glory item upgrades will occur the day after each stage of the tournament has been completed.

  • Round of 16 upgrades starting from December 3rd.
  • Quarter Final upgrades starting from December 7th.
  • Semi Final upgrades starting from December 12th.
  • Final upgrades starting from December 15th.
  • Winner upgrades starting from December 19th.
Teams that qualify for the Round of 16 after just two group games will receive early upgrades, starting on November 28th.
No. Path to Glory player items will receive upgrades based on their nation’s progress regardless of whether or not they play at the FIFA World Cup.
If a player item already has 5*WF and they reach the Semi Final, they’ll receive a +1 In-Form Upgrade instead. Similarly, if a player item already has 5*SM and they reach the Final, they’ll receive a +1 In-Form Upgrade instead.
The three select traits will depend on the player’s position and existing traits.
You can get FIFA 23 World Cup Hero and World Cup PTG items in the same way as any other card: in packs or on the transfer market. If you want to try your luck on packs, you can go to the store and buy them with coins or FIFA Points. They can be found in any pack with players’ cards, including free packs. Finding one of these cards is higher if you open a pack containing more player cards.

Completing specific SBCs and objectives may also reward you with a WC Hero item.
