FC 27 Loan players are temporary items.
Loan Items
Introduced by Electronic Arts in FUT 15, loan players are temporary items designed for a limited number of games. They offer a short-term boost to your squad, often proving decisive in important matches. Because of their impact, more players are including them in their teams.
Loan player items are marked by a blue circle in the bottom right corner. The number inside indicates how many matches the player can still participate in before the contract expires, after which the card becomes unusable.
In FC 27, there are three types of loan items:
- Match Loans
These are the cards you are already familiar with. They allow you to play a certain number of matches with that player, whenever you like. - Timed Loans
This type of loan allows you to use the player as many times as you want while the loan is active. In other words, the card has a sort of timer that determines when it will become obsolete. - Global Loans
These loans work similarly to Timed Loans, but the start and end dates and times are the same for all players worldwide.

You might ask why these cards are valuable if you could get the full version. For one, they are often free. Additionally, they give you an opportunity to test new items before deciding to buy them.
Here are some key aspects of how these cards work that you should keep in mind:
- Squad
You can field multiple loan players simultaneously. It’s also possible to have different versions of the loan player and their regular card in your squad, but only one can be used at a time. - Transfer Market
Loan player items cannot be sold on the transfer market. Attempting to discard them yields 0 coins. Furthermore, they cannot be used in squad building challenges. - Contracts
Except in Friendlies and Moments modes, using a match loan player consumes one contract. If the player remains on the bench or reserves, their loan duration remains unchanged. - Consumables
All consumables function normally on loan players, though it may be somewhat wasteful considering their limited availability.
How to Get Loan Player Items
There are two main ways to get FC 27 loan players:
- Season Pass;
- Ultimate Team packs.
Season Pass
When available, you can exchange your UT SP by players on loan. The list is published on our Seasons dedicated page.
Packs
You can also receive loan players from specific packs. They are not available for purchase in the store, but you can obtain them as rewards from various game modes, including SBCs, Objectives, Rivals, and Squad Battles.
