A new chapter for Football Ultimate Team launches in FC 27, with major changes reportedly being prepared for the power curve, rewards, Squad Building Challenges, Evolutions and card collecting.
EA Sports has not yet officially revealed FC 27 Ultimate Team. The information below is based on early reports and may change before the game is released.
What is New in FC 27 Ultimate Team?
FC 27 Ultimate Team is expected to deliver a slower and more controlled progression system. Fewer campaigns, smaller promotional squads and more focused upgrades should help players remain competitive for longer. New features such as the FUT Gallery, Player Score system, expanded Evolutions and Holographic cards could also give greater value to every item you collect.
Slower Power Curve
One of the most significant reported changes concerns the Ultimate Team power curve. FC 27 is expected to feature fewer campaigns than FC 26, with smaller squads released during each promotion.
Promotional and endgame items should also receive more controlled upgrades. Each player will reportedly be limited to a maximum of three PlayStyles+, preventing cards from becoming excessively powerful too early in the season.
These changes are intended to keep Gold and early promotional players relevant for longer. Instead of regularly replacing entire squads, players should receive more focused and meaningful upgrades throughout the Ultimate Team season.
Improved Match and Competition Rewards
FC 27 is expected to increase the amount of coins and XP earned after matches. Competition rewards may also contain more packs and coins, giving players additional ways to improve their squads through gameplay.
Time-limited Tokens will reportedly provide access to different reward choices. Players may therefore be able to decide how to use their Tokens based on their squads, collections and preferred Ultimate Team activities.
Player Score System
Every Ultimate Team player item is expected to receive a Score determined by its overall rating and rarity. Higher-rated and rarer cards should consequently contribute a greater Score than common or lower-rated items.
The same Player Score will reportedly be used across Squad Building Challenges and the FUT Gallery, connecting squad-building requirements with the new collection and progression systems.
Squad Building Challenge Changes
Some FC 27 SBCs may require players to reach a target Score by submitting a suitable combination of items. This could create a more flexible way to complete challenges, as every submitted player would contribute towards the required total.
Reports remain contradictory about whether Score requirements will replace or complement the traditional chemistry and position systems. It is therefore possible that FC 27 will include both conventional SBCs and new Score-based challenges.
One-click SBC completion is also reportedly being introduced. This feature should automatically select an eligible combination of players from your club, making repetitive or low-value challenges considerably faster to complete.
PlayStyle Lab from Launch
The PlayStyle Lab is expected to be available from the launch of FC 27, giving players more control over the PlayStyles assigned through Evolutions.
Instead of relying exclusively on predetermined upgrades, the PlayStyle Lab should provide additional freedom to customise how an evolved player performs on the pitch.
Evolution Chain Previews
FC 27 will reportedly allow players to preview complete Evolution chains before committing a card. This should make it easier to understand the final attributes, PlayStyles and other upgrades a player can obtain through multiple Evolutions.
The feature should also reduce the risk of starting an Evolution without knowing whether the player will remain eligible for the next planned upgrade.
Multiple Evolution Paths
Evolution levels are expected to offer multiple upgrade paths. At certain stages, players may be able to choose between different improvements instead of every evolved card following an identical progression.
These choices could produce more personalised items, allowing the same base player to develop differently depending on the attributes, roles or PlayStyles selected by each user.
FUT Gallery
The FUT Gallery is a reported new collection system that permanently records every player you pack. Once registered, the player should remain in your Gallery even if you later sell, quick sell or submit the original item into an SBC.
This means that collecting a player can contribute towards long-term progression without requiring you to keep the card inside your active club. It gives more importance to items that would otherwise have little value beyond an SBC or the Transfer Market.
Gallery Collections and Grades
Cards registered in the FUT Gallery will reportedly contribute towards themed collections based on clubs, leagues, nations and other categories. The same footballer may count towards multiple collections, such as a Real Madrid squad and a France squad.
Collections may receive different grades according to the quality and Score of the registered cards. Grades such as S, A, B and C have been reported, with stronger collections expected to provide better progression and rewards.
Gallery Rewards and Tokens
Progressing through the FUT Gallery is expected to unlock cosmetic content, Gallery Tokens and guaranteed Holographic Players.
Gallery Tokens should be spendable in a dedicated store. At launch, 17 Hall of FUT players will reportedly be available exclusively through the Gallery Token Store, giving players a reason to complete collections and increase their Gallery level.
Holographic Cards
EA is reportedly testing a new Holographic card type for FC 27 Ultimate Team. These special items are expected to feature distinctive visual effects and player signatures.
Guaranteed Holographic Players may be available as FUT Gallery progression rewards, although their complete functionality, rarity and availability have not yet been confirmed.
FC 27 Ultimate Team appears to be moving towards a slower power curve and a broader definition of progression. Fewer promotions and more controlled upgrades should keep players usable for longer, while the FUT Gallery could make every packed card meaningful even after it leaves your club.
Player Scores, faster SBC completion and more flexible Evolutions could also reduce repetitive tasks while providing greater control over squad development. However, these features remain unofficial and should be treated as subject to change until EA Sports reveals FC 27 Ultimate Team.
