New Features

While the new features for FC 26 haven’t been revealed yet, we’ll populate this article with the updates from the previous year.

FC 26 introduced Manager Live Challenges with rotating scenarios and rewards, a dynamic Manager Market featuring sackings, poaching, and tactical fit, Authentic Gameplay for true-to-football pacing and outcomes, deeper multi‑league simulation with historical stats and data-driven scouting, and the ability to unlock and field ICONs and Heroes in Manager Career via the Season Pass.

Manager Live Challenges

Manager Live was a curated hub of bite‑sized and season‑long scenarios that refreshed weekly and monthly, including reactive “What If?” moments inspired by real events, derby weeks, relegation battles, title run‑ins, and strict rulesets such as youth-only or nationality-locked squads.

Each Challenge defined start dates, team pools, feature toggles, tactical/job/transfer limiters, and clear objectives, then awarded vanity kits and Season Pass progress—ultimately unlocking ICONs and Heroes for future careers.

The Manager Live Hub

A central Hub organized content into permanent tabs (For You, Continue, Featured, Social, Popular, Favourites, Completed) and rotating dynamic tabs (by leagues, competitions, or themes), making it easy to jump into live scenarios, resume saves, play what friends shared, or tackle globally trending challenges.

Profiles persisted online, allowing manager identity, preferred teams, and recommendations to carry across saves for a more personal setup each time.

More Improvements

Challenge Building Blocks
Scenarios used parameters to set timing, eligible teams and leagues, cup availability, feature toggles, and difficulty rules such as points deductions, embargoes, no restarts, and referee strictness. Limiters could lock tactical visions, job duration, age and nationality eligibility, and transfer rules, while objectives spanned table targets, points, win and loss caps, cup stages, player stats, finances, and must sign or play conditions.

Rewards and Progression
Completion triggered a tailored flow with celebration screens, optional retro kits, and Season Pass advancement that unlocked ICONs and Heroes for future careers. Saves could continue with or without challenge rules, be replayed while active, or be shared with friends for broader engagement.

Manager Career with ICONs and Heroes
Unlocked ICONs and Heroes could start in new careers or Challenges, enabling classic XIs or mixed fantasy squads once earned through the Season Pass. Seasonal rotations expanded available legends over time, refreshing squad building and tactical experimentation in each journey.

Manager Market
Movement became dynamic with sackings for underperformance, poaching on rising reputations, and voluntary departures after long tenures, sometimes via caretakers. Hiring weighed club quality, tenure, job security, nationality fit, and tactical vision compatibility, with AI tactics and transfers adapting when managers moved.

Deeper Simulation and Scouting
Managers could simulate up to five extra leagues, enriching ecosystems and markets while surfacing prior season stats such as scorers, assists, clean sheets, cards, and average ratings. Standings consolidated team and player data with competition filters, and scout reports linked directly to full stat lines for faster recruitment.

Authentic Gameplay
Career defaulted to Authentic pacing with granular passing, varied ball behavior, midfield battles, and realistic success rates, rewarding patient, tactical play. Custom sliders could fine-tune difficulty and assistance while maintaining the authentic baseline.

Unexpected Events
Emergent scenarios and decision points interrupted the calendar with injuries, media stories, board actions, finances, or fan situations that required timely responses. Frequency and impact were configurable or could be disabled, balancing unpredictability and control.

Quality of Life
Live Start Points expanded to over 20 leagues, contract talks became player-initiated with smarter pre-contracts, and AI lineup logic favoured stronger XIs in big games. Transfer logic curbed hoarding, newly bought players could be loaned immediately, tactical visions gained flexibility, and managers received new cinematics.

International Management
Sharpness, Energy, and Training Plans applied to national teams, with sharpness boosting tactical vision attribute bonuses under elite coaches. International duty became a preparation layer influencing form between fixtures.

Youth Development
Youth Tournaments allowed substitutions to drive form and minutes, accelerating development. Two new youth stadium tiers matched club stature and could upgrade as value and rating rose, visualizing academy growth.

Competition Authenticity
Career added Argentina’s league with Apertura and Clausura and updated the UEFA Women’s Champions League to an 18-team League Phase with new tiebreakers and knockouts. Tournament Mode support and customizable pots expanded variety and scheduling accuracy.

Onboarding and Navigation
A streamlined early career flow added clearer tutorials, a customizable Switcher Menu, smarter back button behavior, and save tile timestamps. Managers could dismiss renewal tasks, rely on accurate second position alerts, and receive staff market refresh notifications.

Injuries, Stats, and Scouting
A broader injury set varied match outcomes, and the Player Stats screen added an Average Ratings tab with competition and season filters. Scout reports surfaced complete stats for comparisons, and Standings centralized competitions, fixtures, and knockout home and away data.

Create Your Club and Customization
Challenges could target Create Your Club specifically, while Live rewards included licensed retro kits, new mascots, and presentation touches such as team color social accents and manager Date of Birth. These additions boosted identity and immersion across saves.

Manager Original
The classic Manager Original remained under the main menu with that year’s upgrades, offering traditional full careers and Live Start Points outside Manager Live. Long-form dynasty builders could enjoy new systems without challenge restrictions unless chosen.
