FC 27 Attacking

Attacking

Attacking in Football Club 27 involves the decisions, movements and techniques used to create scoring opportunities and convert them into goals.

It combines passing, dribbling, shooting and intelligent positioning to break defensive lines and exploit available space. Effective attacking depends on individual ability, accurate inputs and coordinated movement between the player in possession and their teammates.

FC 27 introduces smarter Attacking Spatial Awareness, allowing AI controlled attackers to recognise space more effectively and make contextual curved runs. Players can also manually trigger Curved Runs and Pass & Follow Runs to create overlapping or inside movements. However, manually triggered runs now cover a limited distance and may need to be activated again if you want the player to continue forward.

Passing also requires more precision. Ground and lobbed through passes follow your directional input more strictly, while Dinked Passes are fully manual and depend heavily on aim and power. Crosses are directed into space more often, giving your input greater influence over where the ball is delivered.

Corner kicks provide additional control before the delivery, allowing you to switch players, move inside the box, shield opponents and use Avoidance to create space. Headers require more precise positioning and contact, but a clean header can be more accurate than in FC 26.

On PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, Off Balance Dribbling also allows players with suitable Agility, Balance and Dribbling Attributes to retain control after certain collisions or physical challenges.

These changes make attacking more deliberate and varied. To create chances consistently, you must combine precise passing with intelligent movement, carefully timed runs and an awareness of the space around each player.

How to Attack in FC 27

Discover our top FC 27 attacking tips to help you break down defences, create better chances and score more goals.

Optimise Your Formation and Roles
Selecting the right formation and assigning suitable Player Roles is crucial for an effective attack. Your formation establishes the team’s structure, while each Role and Focus influences a player’s positioning, movement and involvement in attacking phases. Experiment with different combinations to find a setup that suits both your playing style and available players.

Build Around Attributes and PlayStyles
Attributes determine how effectively a player performs actions such as passing, shooting and dribbling, while PlayStyles provide specific gameplay benefits. Build your attack around each player’s strengths, but do not rely exclusively on PlayStyles. In FC 27, core Attributes have a greater influence on the effectiveness of several actions.

Master Skill Moves
Skill Moves can help you beat defenders, change direction and create enough space for a pass or shot. Begin with reliable techniques such as the Fake Shot, Ball Roll and Heel to Heel Flick, then introduce more advanced moves as your timing and confidence improve. Avoid using Skill Moves unnecessarily, as losing possession can expose your team to a counterattack.

Trigger and Request Runs
Press L1/LB while facing a teammate to trigger a forward run. Press R1/RB to call a teammate short and create a safer passing option. Combining these controls helps you manipulate the defensive line and create space between opponents.

FC 27 also introduces Triggered Curved Runs, performed by tapping L1 and R1/LB and RB, and Pass & Follow Runs, performed with L1 and R1 and X/LB and RB and A. These movements allow attackers to curve into open space, overlap or cut inside after releasing the ball. Manually triggered runs now cover a limited distance, so you may need to trigger another run if you want the player to continue moving forward.

Aim Through Passes Carefully
Ground and lobbed through passes follow your directional input more strictly in FC 27 instead of being heavily redirected towards open space. Aim towards the intended path of the receiver and apply an appropriate amount of power. Dinked Passes are fully manual, making accurate direction and power even more important.

Sharpen Your Finishing
Consistent finishing is vital. Practise regular shots, Finesse Shots, Power Shots, Low Driven Shots, headers and volleys from different angles. Consider the player’s position, preferred foot and Shooting Attributes before selecting the most suitable finish. FC 27 gives greater importance to Attributes when determining the outcome of Finesse and Low Driven Shots.

Stay Composed
Avoid sprinting constantly or forcing the first available pass. Slow the attack when necessary, protect possession and wait for teammates to move into useful positions. Changing tempo can draw defenders out of shape and create better opportunities than attacking at maximum speed throughout every possession.

Analyse Your Opponent
Observe how your opponent defends and switches players. If they aggressively control their centre backs, use quick passes and runs behind the defensive line. If they defend deeply, circulate possession, use width and create opportunities around the edge of the penalty area.

Use Pace at the Right Moment
Sprint into open space after beating a defender or releasing a teammate behind the defensive line. Accelerating too early can make the ball harder to control and reduce your ability to change direction. Players with the Rapid or Quick Step PlayStyles still accelerate effectively, although their speed advantages have been reduced in FC 27 and core Pace Attributes now carry greater importance.

Exploit Crosses
Crosses in FC 27 are directed into space more often instead of automatically targeting a specific player. Your aim and power have a greater influence on the destination of the ball, so identify the attacker’s movement and deliver the cross into the area they are approaching rather than directly at their current position.

Take Control at Corner Kicks
After aiming a direct corner, the camera moves towards the penalty area and provides a brief opportunity to control an attacker. You can switch players, make a run, shield your position or hold R1/RB to use Avoidance and move through congested areas. Position the receiver carefully because players no longer move automatically into the ideal place to meet the delivery. Clean headers are less frequent, but they can be more accurate when you time the movement and contact correctly.
