Choices Stop at Different Points

Control remains with the player only while a game accepts an input capable of changing what happens next. Selecting an option, confirming it, or choosing whether to continue creates a decision point. Once the game accepts that input, the decision closes until the rules request another response. Lights, sounds, and staged movement may reveal information during the gap, but they do not create a choice on their own. Control returns only when the player can submit another permitted action.

Generation belongs to the system or physical process specified by the rules. Presentation belongs to the cues that expose the result. When another decision appears, control resumes at that point and extends no further than the options attached to it.
