There are plenty of quality centre backs on this league but, in our opinion, Koulibaly is the best one. He is the strongest, only Chiellini defends better than him and only two other players are faster. Matthijs de Ligt is also a good choice. He is the best CB to make a partnership with Koulibaly.

Far of the quality of these two, you can also use Manolas, Škriniar and Chiellini. The first one is our favourite, basically because of his amazing pace (he is the fastest), but the Italian fits perfectly in systems with 5 defenders.

For low-budgets, Romagnoli is one of the best players you can use. There is also Godín and Bonucci, who are good defenders but too slow for most of the teams.

It’s not from today but, as you probably know, there is a lack of quality on right backs from the Serie A. In our opinion, Juan Cuadrado is the best player in this position. He has the highest pace, dribbling and passing stats. Only Danilo has better shooting than him. Unfortunately, Cuadrado is not as good on the defence.

For low-budget squads, we suggest using Bruno Peres, Karsdorp and Malcuit.

Left backs have exactly the same role of their team mates on the other flank. In other words, they try to make a winger’s job hard and participate in the team’s offensive manoeuvres.

There is more quality on the left side of the defence than on the right side, which isn’t difficult. However, there are only eight left-backs from where to choose. It’s easy to agree that Alex Sandro and Theo Hernández are the best players for this position on this league. You should choose them basically on what is more important to you: pace (Theo) or defending skills (Alex Sandro).

To pick the best alternative to these two, you also have to take a similar decision: the pace of Mojica or the defensive and dribbling skills of Mário Rui.
