FC 27 GLOSSARY
FC 27 glossary gathers the most popular terms and definitions, helping newcomers in understanding Ultimate Team vocabulary.
2x Chance
A Store Pack promotion offering twice the standard probability of obtaining a specified type of Item. The increase is relative to the normal Pack odds and does not guarantee that an eligible Item will be included.
3D Item
A visual representation of a Player Item displayed as a three-dimensional object inside the FUT Gallery Hub.
59th Minute
A trading method based on searching Transfer Market listings that are approaching the 59th minute, purchasing underpriced Items, and relisting them at a higher price.
Acceleration
A player’s Physical attribute. It measures how quickly the player reaches their maximum running speed.
Action
An option that can be applied to an Item or Squad. Available actions depend on the selected content and may include sending an Item to the Club, listing it on the Transfer Market, applying a Consumable, swapping players, or using Quick Sell.
Active ChallengeFORMER
A former Ultimate Team challenge that allowed players to face the active Team of the Week or a Featured Squad and earn bonus Coins for their first victory.
Active Squad
The Ultimate Team Squad currently selected for matches and squad management.
Aggression
A player’s Mental attribute. It influences how actively the player competes for possession, challenges opponents, and reacts during physical and defensive situations.
Agility
A player’s Physical attribute. It influences how quickly and smoothly the player changes direction while moving, turning, or controlling the ball.
All-Time Record
A record of the matches played by an Ultimate Team Club, normally displayed as Wins, Draws, and Losses.
Alpha
An early development version of a game, normally produced after the pre-alpha stage and before Beta testing.
Anchor
A Chemistry Style that boosts selected Pace, Defending, and Physical attributes. The size of the boost depends on the player’s Individual Chemistry.
Android
Google’s mobile operating system and one of the platforms supported by the EA SPORTS FC Companion App.
Answer the Call
An Ultimate Team Campaign celebrating players who responded decisively when their teams needed them most, featuring special Player Items inspired by defining performances.
Architect
A Chemistry Style that boosts selected Passing and Physical attributes. The size of the boost depends on the player’s Individual Chemistry.
Archetype
A progression framework that defines an Avatar’s core playing identity, strengths, and development path in Clubs and The Grounds.
Assignments
Tactical selections used to choose the captain and the players responsible for taking penalties, free kicks, and corners. These were previously known as Set-Piece Roles.
Attacking Full Backs
A Quick Tactic that instructs the full-backs to move forward and provide additional support during attacks.
Attacking Spatial Awareness
An FC 27 gameplay system that helps AI-controlled attackers recognise open space and make smarter, more contextual movements, including curved runs that respond to the defence and offside line.
Attacking Work Rate
A measure of how frequently a player contributes to attacking phases. It is traditionally classified as Low, Medium, or High.
Attributes
Another term for Player Attributes. These values represent a player’s technical, physical, and mental abilities and are rated from 1 to 99.
Auto-Tackle
A defensive action performed automatically by an AI-controlled player. Auto-Tackles have reduced effectiveness in FC 27 Competitive Gameplay, placing greater emphasis on manual defending.
Autobidder
An unauthorized third-party tool that automatically places Transfer Market bids according to predefined criteria. Its use violates the EA SPORTS FC rules and can result in sanctions.
Autobuyer
An unauthorized third-party tool that automatically purchases Transfer Market Items using predefined filters and Buy Now prices. Its use violates the EA SPORTS FC rules and can result in sanctions.
Avatar
The custom player controlled and developed by the user in Clubs and The Grounds. An Avatar can be personalised through appearance, clothing, accessories, Archetype progression, and Vanity Items.
Avoidance
An FC 27 mechanic used during corner kicks that allows a controlled attacker or defender to move more freely through crowded areas and avoid being blocked by other players.
Award Winner Item
A special Player Item awarded to selected footballers who win recognised individual awards, such as Player of the Season or Player of the Year. These Items feature permanently upgraded ratings and attributes.
AXP
Avatar Experience Points earned through matches and activities in The Grounds and Clubs. AXP contributes to Avatar and Archetype progression.
Backbone
A Chemistry Style that boosts selected Passing, Defending, and Physical attributes. The size of the boost depends on the player’s Individual Chemistry.
Badge
A Club Item representing the identity of an Ultimate Team Club. The selected Badge appears in menus, match presentation, and other Club-related areas.
Balance
A player’s Physical attribute. It influences the player’s ability to remain stable while turning, dribbling, or receiving physical contact.
Ball Control
A player’s Technical attribute. It influences how effectively the player receives, controls, and keeps the ball close after a pass or loose-ball interaction.
Base Icon ItemFORMER
The lowest-rated version in the former Base, Mid, Prime, and Moments Icon structure. This tier is no longer used in current Ultimate Team titles.
Base Item
The standard Player Item representing a footballer at the beginning of an Ultimate Team cycle. In FC 27, Base Items are classified simply as Bronze, Silver, or Gold rather than Common or Rare.
Base Role Familiarity
The minimum level of Role Familiarity available when a player is used in one of their primary or secondary positions but does not have Role+ or Role++ for the assigned Role.
Basic
The default Chemistry Style assigned to Player Items. It distributes Chemistry boosts across several attributes, with the size of those boosts depending on the player’s Individual Chemistry.
Beta
A pre-release test version of EA SPORTS FC distributed to selected players to identify issues, collect feedback, and test game modes, features, and online services.
Bid
An offer made for an Item listed as an auction on the Transfer Market. The lowest possible bid is subject to the Item’s Price Range, with 150 Coins being the minimum value available in the market.
Bid Bumping
Also known as Bid Jacking or Price Jacking. A misleading trading practice in which the price of an auction is suddenly increased near its end in the hope that another user will submit an accidental bid.
Bid Jacking
Also known as Bid Bumping or Price Jacking. A misleading trading practice in which the price of an auction is suddenly increased near its end in the hope that another user will submit an accidental bid.
Black Friday
An annual Ultimate Team Campaign held around the Black Friday shopping period, normally featuring special content, SBCs, Objectives, Evolutions, Store Packs, and returning Player Items.
Brasilver
A community term used to describe Brazilian Silver Player Items or Squads composed mainly or entirely of Brazilian Silver players.
Bronze
The lowest of the three Base Item qualities. Bronze Player Items have an Overall Rating of 64 or below. In FC 27, Bronze Items are no longer divided into Common and Rare versions.
Build-Up Style
A Team Tactics setting that determines how players move and how quickly the team transitions from defence into its attacking shape. FC 27 includes Short Passing, Balanced, and Counter.
Buy It Now
A Transfer Market option that allows a user to purchase an Item immediately by paying its listed Buy Now Price.
Buy Now Price
The optional immediate purchase price selected when an Item is listed on the Transfer Market. It must fall within the Item’s Price Range and cannot be lower than its Starting Price.
Campaign
A themed Ultimate Team content period that can introduce Player Items, Objectives, SBCs, Evolutions, Live Events, Gallery Sets, Store content, and rewards.
Campaign Hub
An FC 27 Ultimate Team interface that brings together the content associated with the current Campaign, including Objectives, SBCs, Evolutions, Gallery Sets, Live Events, and rewards.
Campaign Item
A special Player Item released as part of an Ultimate Team Campaign. Its design, upgrades, eligibility, and availability depend on the rules of that Campaign.
Campaign Squad
A selection of special Player Items released together as part of an Ultimate Team Campaign, normally available in Packs for a limited period.
Captains
An Ultimate Team Campaign celebrating influential football leaders and players recognised for their importance to their teams.
Captains Item
A special Player Item released as part of the Captains Campaign, featuring permanently upgraded ratings and attributes.
Card
An informal community term for an Ultimate Team Item. EA officially uses the term Item for players, managers, consumables, cosmetics, and other collectible content.
Card Weight
A community term describing the relative likelihood of obtaining a particular Item from a Pack. Card Weight is not an official published value and should not be confused with an Item’s Transfer Market supply or trading volume.
Career Mode
An offline game mode divided into Manager Career and Player Career, allowing users to manage a club or experience the career of an individual footballer.
Cat
A goalkeeper Chemistry Style that boosts selected Reflexes, Speed, and Positioning attributes. The size of the boost depends on the goalkeeper’s Individual Chemistry.
Catalyst
A Chemistry Style that boosts selected Pace and Passing attributes. The size of the boost depends on the player’s Individual Chemistry.
Central Attacking Midfielder
A player position abbreviated as CAM. It operates between central midfield and the forwards, normally contributing to chance creation, passing, and attacking movement.
Central Defensive Midfielder
A player position abbreviated as CDM. It operates in front of the defensive line, helping recover possession, cover passing lanes, and support build-up play.
Centre ForwardFORMER
A former Ultimate Team position abbreviated as CF. It represented an attacker who operated centrally between an attacking midfielder and a striker. FC 27 uses ST as its central forward position.
Centurions
An Ultimate Team Campaign inspired by major career milestones, longevity, and notable appearance, goal, assist, or clean-sheet achievements.
Challengers
An FC 27 Ultimate Team competition designed as an alternative competitive path alongside Champions, giving a wider range of players access to structured online competition and rewards.
Champions
A competitive online Ultimate Team mode in which qualified players compete for ranks and rewards over a limited number of matches.
Champions ChannelFORMER
A former Ultimate Team feature that allowed users to watch complete match replays from selected high-level Champions players.
Champions Finals
The main competitive stage of Ultimate Team Champions, where qualified players complete a limited number of matches to earn a rank and corresponding rewards.
Champions Points
Qualification points earned through selected Ultimate Team competitions and previously used to enter or progress towards Champions qualification. Their exact function can vary between titles.
Chapter
A collection of related challenges or scenarios within the Moments mode.
Chemistry
An Ultimate Team system that determines the attribute boosts a player receives from their Chemistry Style. Individual Chemistry is influenced by the player’s position and by links involving their Club, League, Nation, and Manager. A player on zero Chemistry keeps their Base attributes but receives no Chemistry Style boosts.
Chemistry Style
A Consumable Item that determines which attributes can receive Chemistry boosts. The size of the boosts depends on the player’s Individual Chemistry.
Chip Shot
A shot that lifts the ball over an approaching goalkeeper or defender using a controlled, elevated trajectory.
Classic Match
A Friendlies match type that uses standard football rules without additional House Rules modifiers.
Closed Beta
An invitation-only pre-release version of EA SPORTS FC used to test selected modes, features, gameplay systems, and online services before launch.
Club Items
Ultimate Team Items used to personalise a Club’s identity and match presentation, including Badges, Kits, Balls, Stadium Themes, Tifos, and other cosmetic content.
Club Value
An estimated measure of the collective value of the Player Items owned by an Ultimate Team Club. Its availability and calculation may vary between titles.
Clubs
An online mode, formerly known as Pro Clubs, in which each user controls their own Avatar and competes cooperatively as part of a Club.
Coin BoostFORMER
A former Ultimate Team reward that added a specified number of bonus Coins to the Match Coins earned over a limited number of completed matches.
Coins
The main earnable currency in Ultimate Team. Coins can be used on the Transfer Market and for selected Store content, but cannot legitimately be purchased directly from third-party sellers.
Coins Store
An unauthorized third-party service that sells Ultimate Team Coins for real money. Buying or selling Coins violates the EA SPORTS FC rules and can result in account sanctions.
Comeback
A match situation in which a team recovers from a losing position and eventually draws or wins the match.
Common ItemFORMER
A former Base Item rarity used to distinguish Common Player Items from Rare Player Items. In FC 27, Base Items are classified simply as Bronze, Silver, or Gold.
Community EventFORMER
A former Ultimate Team event in which completed Objectives contributed towards shared community progress and collective rewards.
Community TOTSFORMER
A former Team of the Season squad selected through community voting from a shortlist of players recognised for consistent real-world performances.
Companion App
A free iOS and Android application used to manage an Ultimate Team Club, complete SBCs, manage Evolutions, claim rewards, and access the Transfer Market when eligible.
Compare Price
A Transfer Market option that displays other listings of the same Item, helping users assess its current market price before buying or selling.
Completion AwardFORMER
A former name for the Coins or rewards granted after completing an Ultimate Team match.
Competitive Gameplay
A gameplay preset designed for online competitive modes, prioritising responsiveness, consistency, manual defending, and user-controlled actions.
Composure
A player’s Mental attribute. It influences how consistently the player performs technical actions when under pressure from nearby opponents.
Concept Item
A non-playable version of a Player Item that can be added to a Concept Squad for planning purposes, even when the user does not own the Item.
Concept Squad
A squad-planning tool that allows users to build an Ultimate Team Squad with Concept Items, test Chemistry combinations, and identify potential Transfer Market targets.
Co-Op
A cooperative online feature that allows two users to play together on the same team in supported game modes.
Consumable
An Ultimate Team Item that can be applied to eligible content. Current examples include Chemistry Styles and Healing Items, while the available Consumable categories can vary between titles.
Consumable PileFORMER
A former Club storage area dedicated to Consumable Items. Current Ultimate Team titles manage these Items through the Club.
Cornerstones
An Ultimate Team Campaign celebrating players who provide stability, identity, and a strong foundation for their respective Clubs.
CornersFORMER
A former Custom Tactics setting that controlled how many players entered the penalty area during attacking corners.
Creative Run
An attacking movement that uses available space, defensive positioning, and the offside line to create a passing option. FC 27 improves both automatic and manually triggered Creative Runs.
Cross
A pass played from a wide area towards teammates positioned in or around the penalty area.
Crossing
A player’s Technical attribute. It influences the accuracy and quality of crosses delivered from open play and certain set-piece situations.
Curve
A player’s Technical attribute. It influences how much curl the player can apply to passes, crosses, free kicks, and certain shots.
Current Bid
The highest valid offer currently placed on an Item listed as an auction. It becomes the winning bid if no higher offer is made before the listing expires.
Destined for Glory
The first Ultimate Team Campaign of FC 27, featuring a squad shaped by community voting. Selected Player Items are eligible for live upgrades based on real-world performances. Voting runs from 21 August to 10 September, while the Campaign runs from 25 September to 9 October 2026.
Defensive Approach
A Team Tactics setting that combines Line Height, pressure, and defensive run tracking. FC 27 includes Deep, Balanced, High, and Aggressive Defensive Approaches.
Defensive StyleFORMER
A former Custom Tactics setting that determined how and when a team applied defensive pressure. It has been replaced by the Defensive Approach system.
DepthFORMER
A former standalone Custom Tactics setting that controlled how high the defensive line positioned itself. In FC 27, this behaviour is managed through the Defensive Approach and Line Height settings.
Destined for Glory
The first Ultimate Team Campaign of FC 27, featuring a squad shaped by community voting. Selected Player Items are eligible for live upgrades based on real-world performances.
Did Not Finish
Also known as DNF. A match registered as unfinished because a user disconnected or left before the final whistle. Repeated DNFs can reduce the Coins earned from future matches and may affect access to rewards or competitions.
Dinked Pass
A slightly elevated pass used to lift the ball over a defender’s foot or interception attempt. In FC 27, Dinked Passes follow the user’s directional input more closely.
Discard Price
Also known as Quick Sell Value. The number of Coins received when an eligible Item is permanently removed from the Club through Quick Sell. Untradeable Items normally have a Quick Sell Value of zero Coins, although some may be recoverable temporarily through Quick Sell Recovery.
Diving
One of the six goalkeeper Face Stats. It represents the goalkeeper’s ability to reach and save shots by diving through the air.
Division Rivals
Also known as Rivals. An online Ultimate Team mode with skill-based divisions, progression, checkpoints, and recurring rewards.
DNF Modifier
A system that reduces the Match Coins earned by users who repeatedly fail to complete matches. The modifier can improve again by completing matches normally.
D-Pad Tactics
Also known as Quick Tactics. In-match tactical commands that allow users to adjust selected aspects of their team’s behaviour without opening the pause menu.
Draft
An Ultimate Team mode in which users build a temporary Squad by selecting one Player Item from a series of five-player choices. The drafted Squad is then used in a knockout competition lasting up to four victories.
Dribbling Face Stat
One of the six outfield player Face Stats. It summarises several abilities related to movement and ball control, including Agility, Balance, Reactions, Ball Control, Dribbling, and Composure.
Dribbling Attribute
A player’s Technical attribute. It influences how closely and effectively the player controls the ball while moving past opponents.
Driven Pass
A faster and more powerful ground pass intended to move the ball quickly between teammates. Its additional pace can make it more difficult for the receiver to control.
Duration
The length of time an Item remains listed on the Transfer Market. If a valid bid exists when the listing ends, the Item is sold to the highest bidder. Otherwise, the listing expires and the Item remains in the Transfer List. Available durations range from one hour to three days.
Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment
A general term for systems that adapt game difficulty according to player performance. EA states that Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment is not used to manipulate the difficulty or outcome of online Ultimate Team matches.
Dynamic ObjectivesFORMER
A former name for time-limited Objective Groups released outside a regular schedule, often connected to Campaigns or real-world football events.
Dynamic Tactics
A tactical system that allows users to prepare multiple setups with different Formations, Team Tactics, Roles, and Focuses, then switch between compatible plans during a match.
EA Play
A paid Electronic Arts subscription service that can include a limited FC 27 trial, member rewards, selected in-game benefits, and discounts on eligible EA digital purchases.
Early Access
Access to a game before its standard worldwide release. It may be offered through a premium Edition, subscription, limited trial, playtest, Alpha, or Beta.
EA SPORTS
The Electronic Arts label responsible for developing and publishing sports video games, including the EA SPORTS FC series.
Electronic Arts
The video game company that develops and publishes the EA SPORTS FC series.
EA SPORTS FC
Electronic Arts’ football video game franchise, introduced as the successor to the EA SPORTS FIFA series.
Electrum Pack
An Ultimate Team Pack containing a mixture of Gold and Silver Items. The total number of Items and their distribution depend on the specific Electrum Pack variant.
End of an Era Item
A special Player Item celebrating the conclusion of a notable stage in a footballer’s career, such as retirement, departure from a long-term Club, or the end of an important footballing period.
End of Match Reward
A reward granted after completing a match in selected FC 27 Ultimate Team modes. It can include Match Coins, SP, or other progression benefits linked directly to individual matches.
Established Date
The date or year in which an Ultimate Team Club was originally created.
Event Token
A reward currency earned through selected evergreen or time-limited Ultimate Team programs. Event Tokens can be exchanged for a choice of rewards associated with the relevant program.
Events
A general term for themed or time-limited Ultimate Team content. Events can include Campaigns, Live Events, Objectives, SBCs, Evolutions, Gallery Sets, Player Items, and rewards.
Evolution Chain
A sequence in which a Player Item completes one Evolution and subsequently becomes eligible for another, creating a longer upgrade path.
Evolution Chain Preview
An FC 27 planning feature that allows users to preview how one Evolution may lead into additional compatible Evolutions before committing the Player Item.
Evolutions
An Ultimate Team feature that allows eligible Player Items to be upgraded by completing specified gameplay requirements or progression steps. Evolutions can improve Attributes, Overall Rating, PlayStyles, Roles, positions, and other characteristics.
Extra Striker
An attacking Quick Tactic that instructs an additional player to move into a more advanced central position and support the striker.
Face Stats
The six main ratings displayed on a Player Item. Outfield players use Pace, Shooting, Passing, Dribbling, Defending, and Physical. Goalkeepers use Diving, Handling, Kicking, Reflexes, Speed, and Positioning.
False 9
A Striker Player Role in which the forward drops into deeper areas to receive the ball, link midfield with attack, and create space for teammates making forward runs.
Fantasy FC
An Ultimate Team Campaign featuring special Player Items that can receive upgrades based on real-world individual and team performances during a specified period.
Fantasy UT Item
Also known as a Fantasy FC Item. A dynamic Player Item eligible for upgrades based on Campaign-specific real-world conditions, which can include appearances, wins, goals, assists, or clean sheets.
FC 27 Lite
A free-to-download version of FC 27 offering access to a limited and potentially rotating selection of teams, modes, and content. Users can upgrade to the full game separately.
FC IQ
The tactical and positional framework that connects Formations, Team Tactics, Player Roles, Focuses, and Role Familiarity to shape team and player behaviour on the pitch.
FC Points
A premium virtual currency purchased with real money or obtained through selected Edition benefits. FC Points can be used for eligible Store Packs, Draft entries, Evolution content, and other supported Ultimate Team purchases.
FC Pro
The official EA SPORTS FC competitive gaming ecosystem, encompassing professional tournaments, qualified players, Clubs, leagues, and international esports events.
FC Pro Live
An Ultimate Team Campaign connecting selected dynamic Player Items to the performances of professional competitors in FC Pro events.
Featured Squad
A specially selected Squad created by a footballer, celebrity, content creator, professional FC player, or another recognised member of the community, normally available as a featured Squad Battles opponent.
FIFAUTeam
An independent website dedicated to EA SPORTS FC and Ultimate Team news, guides, databases, Campaigns, rewards, and gameplay information.
Finisher
A Chemistry Style that boosts selected Shooting and Dribbling attributes. The size of the boost depends on the player’s Individual Chemistry.
Finishing
A player’s Technical attribute. It influences the accuracy and consistency of shots taken with the feet from scoring positions, particularly inside the penalty area.
First Owned Player
A Player Item with First Owner status because it was obtained directly by the current user through a Pack, SBC, Objective, reward, Player Pick, or another eligible source rather than purchased from the Transfer Market.
FitnessFORMER
A former persistent Ultimate Team condition system that required Player Items to recover between matches. Fitness Items and persistent Squad Fitness were removed, although players still lose stamina during individual matches.
Flair Pass
A pass performed with a creative or unconventional animation. Its execution and effectiveness depend on the situation, user input, player Attributes, and relevant PlayStyles.
Flair Shot
A shot performed with a creative or acrobatic animation, such as a backheel or other improvised finish. Its execution depends on the situation, player Attributes, and relevant PlayStyles.
Flashback Item
A special Player Item celebrating a notable previous season, match, achievement, or period from an active player’s career.
Focus
A modifier applied to a Player Role that adjusts specific aspects of the player’s positioning, movement, and responsibilities.
Football Club
An informal expansion sometimes used by the community for the initials FC. The official franchise name is EA SPORTS FC.
Football Mentor
A recognised football personality found in The Grounds who provides themed activities, challenges, guidance, or progression opportunities for Avatars.
Formation
The base arrangement of player positions on the pitch. In FC 27, the selected Formation primarily defines the team’s out-of-possession shape and determines which positions and Player Roles are available.
Founder
A user recognised for having created an Ultimate Team Club during the earliest editions of the mode. The displayed Established Date indicates when the Club was originally created.
Free Kick
A restart awarded after certain fouls or rule violations. It can be taken directly towards goal or used to pass or cross the ball to a teammate.
Free Kick Accuracy
A player’s Technical attribute. It influences the accuracy of direct free kicks taken towards goal.
Free KicksFORMER
A former Custom Tactics setting that controlled how many players entered the penalty area during attacking free kicks.
Frostbite
The game engine used by EA SPORTS FC on supported platforms. It was first introduced to the main EA SPORTS FIFA series with FIFA 17.
FUT Birthday
An annual Ultimate Team Campaign celebrating the anniversary of the mode, normally featuring special Player Items, SBCs, Objectives, Evolutions, and other themed content.
FUT Birthday Item
A special Player Item released during the FUT Birthday Campaign, normally featuring permanently improved ratings, Attributes, Skill Moves, Weak Foot, PlayStyles, or Roles.
FUT Co-Op
An Ultimate Team feature that allows two users to play together in supported modes, which may include Rivals, Squad Battles, Friendlies, and selected Live Events.
FUTTIES
An annual end-of-cycle Ultimate Team Campaign celebrating popular players and notable content released throughout the season.
FUTTIES Item
A heavily upgraded special Player Item released during the FUTTIES Campaign. Selection methods can include community voting, SBCs, Objectives, Evolutions, or direct Pack releases.
FUT VersusFORMER
A former Ultimate Team Campaign that released two contrasting special versions of selected players, with each version featuring different upgrades or characteristics.
FUT Web App
Also known as the Web App. A free browser-based application used to manage an Ultimate Team Club, complete SBCs, manage Squads and Evolutions, claim rewards, and access the Transfer Market when eligible.

Also known as DNF. A match registered as unfinished because a user disconnected or left before the final whistle. Repeated DNFs can reduce the Coins earned from future matches and may affect access to rewards or competitions.
Dinked Pass
A slightly elevated pass used to lift the ball over a defender’s foot or interception attempt. In FC 27, Dinked Passes follow the user’s directional input more closely.
Discard Price
Also known as Quick Sell Value. The number of Coins received when an eligible Item is permanently removed from the Club through Quick Sell. Untradeable Items normally have a Quick Sell Value of zero Coins, although some may be recoverable temporarily through Quick Sell Recovery.
Diving
One of the six goalkeeper Face Stats. It represents the goalkeeper’s ability to reach and save shots by diving through the air.
Division Rivals
Also known as Rivals. An online Ultimate Team mode with skill-based divisions, progression, checkpoints, and recurring rewards.
DNF Modifier
A system that reduces the Match Coins earned by users who repeatedly fail to complete matches. The modifier can improve again by completing matches normally.
D-Pad Tactics
Also known as Quick Tactics. In-match tactical commands that allow users to adjust selected aspects of their team’s behaviour without opening the pause menu.
Draft
An Ultimate Team mode in which users build a temporary Squad by selecting one Player Item from a series of five-player choices. The drafted Squad is then used in a knockout competition lasting up to four victories.
Dribbling Face Stat
One of the six outfield player Face Stats. It summarises several abilities related to movement and ball control, including Agility, Balance, Reactions, Ball Control, Dribbling, and Composure.
Dribbling Attribute
A player’s Technical attribute. It influences how closely and effectively the player controls the ball while moving past opponents.
Driven Pass
A faster and more powerful ground pass intended to move the ball quickly between teammates. Its additional pace can make it more difficult for the receiver to control.
Duration
The length of time an Item remains listed on the Transfer Market. If a valid bid exists when the listing ends, the Item is sold to the highest bidder. Otherwise, the listing expires and the Item remains in the Transfer List. Available durations range from one hour to three days.
Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment
A general term for systems that adapt game difficulty according to player performance. EA states that Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment is not used to manipulate the difficulty or outcome of online Ultimate Team matches.
Dynamic ObjectivesFORMER
A former name for time-limited Objective Groups released outside a regular schedule, often connected to Campaigns or real-world football events.
Dynamic Tactics
A tactical system that allows users to prepare multiple setups with different Formations, Team Tactics, Roles, and Focuses, then switch between compatible plans during a match.
EA Play
A paid Electronic Arts subscription service that can include a limited FC 27 trial, member rewards, selected in-game benefits, and discounts on eligible EA digital purchases.
Early Access
Access to a game before its standard worldwide release. It may be offered through a premium Edition, subscription, limited trial, playtest, Alpha, or Beta.

End of Match Reward

Established Date
The date or year in which an Ultimate Team Club was originally created.
Event Token
A reward currency earned through selected evergreen or time-limited Ultimate Team programs. Event Tokens can be exchanged for a choice of rewards associated with the relevant program.
Events
A general term for themed or time-limited Ultimate Team content. Events can include Campaigns, Live Events, Objectives, SBCs, Evolutions, Gallery Sets, Player Items, and rewards.
Evolution Chain
A sequence in which a Player Item completes one Evolution and subsequently becomes eligible for another, creating a longer upgrade path.
Evolution Chain Preview
An FC 27 planning feature that allows users to preview how one Evolution may lead into additional compatible Evolutions before committing the Player Item.
Evolutions
An Ultimate Team feature that allows eligible Player Items to be upgraded by completing specified gameplay requirements or progression steps. Evolutions can improve Attributes, Overall Rating, PlayStyles, Roles, positions, and other characteristics.
Extra Striker
An attacking Quick Tactic that instructs an additional player to move into a more advanced central position and support the striker.
Face Stats

FC IQ

FC Points

Featured Squad
A specially selected Squad created by a footballer, celebrity, content creator, professional FC player, or another recognised member of the community, normally available as a featured Squad Battles opponent.

Finisher
A Chemistry Style that boosts selected Shooting and Dribbling attributes. The size of the boost depends on the player’s Individual Chemistry.
Finishing
A player’s Technical attribute. It influences the accuracy and consistency of shots taken with the feet from scoring positions, particularly inside the penalty area.
First Owned Player
A Player Item with First Owner status because it was obtained directly by the current user through a Pack, SBC, Objective, reward, Player Pick, or another eligible source rather than purchased from the Transfer Market.
FitnessFORMER
A former persistent Ultimate Team condition system that required Player Items to recover between matches. Fitness Items and persistent Squad Fitness were removed, although players still lose stamina during individual matches.
Flair Pass
A pass performed with a creative or unconventional animation. Its execution and effectiveness depend on the situation, user input, player Attributes, and relevant PlayStyles.
Flair Shot

Flashback Item

Focus

Football Club
An informal expansion sometimes used by the community for the initials FC. The official franchise name is EA SPORTS FC.
Football Mentor
A recognised football personality found in The Grounds who provides themed activities, challenges, guidance, or progression opportunities for Avatars.
Formation
The base arrangement of player positions on the pitch. In FC 27, the selected Formation primarily defines the team’s out-of-possession shape and determines which positions and Player Roles are available.
Founder
A user recognised for having created an Ultimate Team Club during the earliest editions of the mode. The displayed Established Date indicates when the Club was originally created.
Free Kick
A restart awarded after certain fouls or rule violations. It can be taken directly towards goal or used to pass or cross the ball to a teammate.
Free Kick Accuracy
A player’s Technical attribute. It influences the accuracy of direct free kicks taken towards goal.
Free KicksFORMER
A former Custom Tactics setting that controlled how many players entered the penalty area during attacking free kicks.
Frostbite
The game engine used by EA SPORTS FC on supported platforms. It was first introduced to the main EA SPORTS FIFA series with FIFA 17.
FUT Birthday

FUT Birthday Item

FUT Co-Op

FUT Tournaments

Future Stars Item

Gallery Hub
The main visual environment of FC 27 Ultimate Team, where Player Items, favourite Gallery Sets, and other parts of the Club can appear as objects within the surrounding space. The complete Gallery Hub is available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Gallery Level
The overall FUT Gallery progression level. Completing and improving Gallery Sets increases this level and unlocks milestone rewards.
Gallery Milestone
A FUT Gallery progression target that grants a reward when the required Gallery Level or other collection condition is reached.
Gallery Reward

Interceptions

Item
A collectible piece of Ultimate Team content. Items can include players, managers, Consumables, Club cosmetics, Stadium content, Tokens, and other rewards.
Item Actions
A contextual menu containing the actions available for a selected Ultimate Team Item. Options can include adding it to a Squad or Gallery Set, applying a Consumable, listing it on the Transfer Market, sending it to the Club, or using Quick Sell.
Item Rarity
The classification used to distinguish different versions and levels of scarcity among Ultimate Team Items. In FC 27, Bronze, Silver, and Gold Base Items are no longer divided into Common and Rare versions.
Item Score
A value assigned to an eligible Player Item in the FUT Gallery. It is influenced by the Item’s Overall Rating, rarity, and Holographic status and contributes to the total Score and Grade of a Gallery Set.
Item Tag
An Item property used by FUT Gallery Tags to identify combinations that can increase the Score of a Gallery Set. Tags can require specific qualities, Campaigns, rarities, or other Item characteristics.
Joga Bonito
An Ultimate Team Campaign inspired by expressive and entertaining football, celebrating players associated with creativity, flair, technical ability, and spectacular play.
Jumbo Pack
A Pack containing a larger number of Items than the corresponding standard version. Its contents, quality distribution, and guarantees depend on the specific Jumbo Pack.
Jumbo Rare Players Pack
A classic Ultimate Team Pack containing 24 Gold Player Items that were all classified as Rare under the previous Base Item rarity system. FC 27 no longer divides Bronze, Silver, and Gold Base Items into Common and Rare versions.
Jumping
A player’s Physical attribute. It influences how effectively the player elevates from the ground when contesting aerial balls.
Kickabout
An informal football activity available in The Grounds, designed for quick and accessible matches with friends or other players on smaller pitches.
Kicking
One of the six goalkeeper Face Stats. It represents the distance and accuracy of the goalkeeper’s distribution when kicking the ball from their hands or from the ground.
Kick Off
The most popular game mode for casual players. It allows you to create quick matches to play against CPU or your friends, using any available teams.
King of the Hill

Knockout Royalty

Vision
A player’s mental attribute that influences their ability to identify and execute passing opportunities.
Volleys
A player’s technical attribute that measures the accuracy and quality of shots struck before the ball touches the ground.
Wall
A goalkeeper chemistry style that improves Diving, Kicking, and Handling.
Weak Foot
A rating from one to five stars that represents how effectively a player performs passes and shots with their non-preferred foot.
