Team Rating and Star Rating

The FC 27 Squad Rating evaluates and compares the overall quality of different squads. It is calculated using the individual ratings of the 11 starting players and the seven substitutes.

These individual ratings are combined into a single Squad Rating. This value is mainly used to measure the overall quality of a squad and to meet requirements in certain game modes and challenges. It does not guarantee better performances on the pitch, as individual players may not suit every tactic or playstyle.

In FC 27, Squad Ratings range from 0, the lowest, to 99, the highest. The rating is displayed in the active squad menu for quick reference. For the most precise result, check the game, Companion App or Web App, since third party squad builders may use slightly different calculations.

Understanding your Squad Rating helps you make informed decisions when building or optimising squads for different modes and challenges in Football Club 27.

FC 27 also provides a Star Rating as a broader indication of squad quality. Both ratings are closely linked, as shown in the table below.

How is it Calculated?

The Squad Rating is essentially the average of the 18 players in the squad, adjusted by a correction factor. The exact calculation method is not publicly disclosed, but the following provides a simplified explanation.

To calculate your Squad Rating, consider the ratings of all 18 players, including the starting eleven, substitutes and loan players. First, add all 18 ratings together and divide the total by 18. Players rated above this average contribute positively to the correction factor, based on how much their rating exceeds the average.

The general formula is:
SR = (SUM + CF) / 18

Follow these six steps:
  1. Sum the ratings of all 18 players.
  2. Divide the total by 18 to calculate the average rating. Do not round this value.
  3. For every player rated above the average, calculate the difference between their rating and the average. Add these differences together to obtain the Correction Factor, or CF.
  4. Add the CF to the original sum.
  5. Round the adjusted total to the nearest whole number and divide it by 18.
  6. Round down the result to obtain the final FC 27 Squad Rating.

Here is an example using a squad with 13 players rated 80 and five players rated 85.

  1. Sum the ratings
    13 × 80 + 5 × 85 = 1,465
  2. Calculate the average
    1,465 ÷ 18 = 81.39
  3. Calculate the Correction Factor
    Each 85 rated player exceeds the average by 3.61 points. With five such players:
    CF = 5 × 3.61 = 18.05
  4. Add the Correction Factor
    1,465 + 18.05 = 1,483.05
  5. Round and divide
    Rounded total: 1,483
    1,483 ÷ 18 = 82.39
  6. Round down
    Final Squad Rating = 82
