Defending and heading may be useless against fast opponents. It’s necessary to fight fire with fire. No one likes feeling impotent when seeing you get overrun by extremely fast players. Even though, in a way, centre backs aren’t that fast, every team needs one of these players with a high pace attribute.

With the exception of Azpilicueta, Davinson Sánchez and Virgil van Dijk, this is where the most rated centre-backs are weaker. In the bottom of the list, Mertsacker was replaced by Wes Morgan who only has 30 of pace. It is strange to see a Jamaican player in this position.

There are plenty of good defenders in this league but most of them are too slow. It’s the case of Kompany, Otamendi or even Vertonghen. Pace will always be crucial in this game and that’s why our first choices are Dijk, Azpilicueta, Bailly and Sánchez. The first two are more balanced players, while the other two stay more at the back.

If you need someone cheaper, we recommend you Sokratis, who has, in our opinion, more quality than other better rated players like Otamendi or Kompany.

A flanked game tends to be faster than a game based in the middle of the field. The players that fill these spaces are obligated to be fast, both penetrating defensive and attacking moves of the team. Pace is one of the most important requirements for a good full back. Even in FIFA 19.

Bellerín and DeAndre Yedlin are the fastest Premier League defenders in FIFA 19 Ultimate Team. They are far superior in this aspect when compared to every EPL full back. Besides them, only Kyle Walker may be considered reasonably fast.

Kyle Walker is undoubtedly the best option to the right side of your defense. He is the fastet but also has the best defending and physical stats. Not as fast as he is, Antonio Valencia is the obvious alternative to him. But because pace is not everything, we prefer Ricardo Pereira over Bellerín, and Trippier over Yedlin. The Newcastle players has an amazing pace but he is also the one with the lowest passing stat.

Before you ask, let’s share what do we think about Zabaleta. He is not in our top 10 right-backs list because he is the slowest right-back in this league (pace 51). However, with the right instructions and custom tactics, you can make him a decent option to give security to your back line. Just keep in mind that he will not attack because if he does, he will not be able to recover to his position back.

It’s really impressive the lack of quality this league has in this position. Maybe because of that, the choices are not obvious and you may not agree with some of them. Starting with the best left back, it’s not easy to choose between Benjamin Mendy and Andrew Robertson. The first one is stronger but the Liverpool’s left back is more active in the game. It’s up to you to decide which one will be more useful on your team.

You may disagree with us but we relegated Marcos Alonso to the fifth position because of his poor pace. His stats are OK but the speed of Patrick van Aanholt and Luke Shaw can make the difference on the field.

      Hi. It looks OK to me. The only thing I’m not sure if it works OK to you is Dembele as a CM. If you see that you are not scoring as much as you expected, try someone with better attacking skills.

    I read almost all of your replies to the above question, however I found that most of your replies to recommend a CB is Azpilicueta. However, my intention here is I am planning to get 4 best CB for my team, of course for my team A and team B. What I have in mind for my CB are UCL sanchez, UCL van dijk, UCL jan vertonghen & OTW Sokratis. Can you please advise which has to replace on the above mention with some ideal CB base on your experience?

    Last but not least, may I know for my LM which should I choose the best? UCL son or UCL mane?

      UCL Sanchez and UCL Van Dijk look to be the best choices for your first team. In my opinion, UCL Vertonghan and Sokratis are also decent choices but you have to be sure to apply them the right chemistry style.
      UCL Mané looks to be better than UCL Son.

          Difficult choice between Aurier and Kyle Walker. The main difference is the pace. If that is important to you, pick Walker. Otherwise, Aurier is a better player.
          About chemistry styles, we can’t suggest the best one because it depends on many factors like your play style and preferences. You can get help here.

    My attack is pretty good but when it comes to defense i have a problem. Should i get azpi instead of otamendi or UCl mendy to replace mendy? Any other suggestions

      Hi! Thank you. You have room to improve your team. 50k is not bad but you can easily make much more. For example: playing 3/4 matches per week is enough to make around 30k coins on FUT Rivals (assuming division 5/6).
      I think you should start buying Matic, Felipe Anderson, Lucas and Davinson Sánchez.

      If he’s getting chemistry 7, I wouldn’t touch him. Your defence is OK, but you should think about using Alba or Alex Sandro instead of Mendy.
      You should save to replace Fred with Eriksen.

      Your team is amazing. I know you love Felipe but you can replace him by Thiago Silva, who is much better (and expensive too).
      If you are happy with your midfield, maybe you should try Dijk and De Gea.

      You already have a top team. You should improve your GK position. There is no much more you can do. I would suggest someone to replace David Silva but you need him to keep the chemistry of Alba high.

      I recommend you someone more attacking, like Mkhitaryan, and then replacing Kroos by Matic.

      If you don’t want to pay Dijk price but really want the best option possible, you need to turn your squad into a hybrid one. Thiago Silva + Alex Sandro looks to be a good start.

    I am think of bringing in Fabinho instead of Fernandihno, Azpilicueta instead of Sokratis.

      Fabinho and Azpilicueta will be great additions to your team. My suggestion is to wait a few more weeks until the Black Friday before buying other players. Eriksen, for example, would be great, but he is still too expensive.

      You have a great budget but if I was you, I would go for Virgil instead of Bailly IF. Salah is obviously a good addition but you need to upgrade your striker too.

    Great work ! Would you recommend using David Luiz just to be able to fit Alex Telles as LB? I know David Luiz is not as good as the names listed, but Alex Telles is by far better than any of the options we have in the Premier League
