For all those players who plan to build a FIFA 20 Liga NOS squad, we’ve conducted an extensive analysis on the best players and suggested squads for different budgets.
Building a team is the biggest challenge in FIFA 20 Ultimate Team. It doesn’t need to be the best team, since the budget may not allow it, but it needs to be a team designed for your style and needs.
When choosing which players to play with, you will have to look carefully at their attributes. Choosing a team based on ratings is one of the most common mistakes. For each position, and focusing on the truly important attributes, we’ll show you who are the best players to choose.
It’s also important to check if the player you choose fits the formations you like to play in. For example, a good full-back will be useless if the player only uses a formation with three defenders.
Last but not least, you should try to get the maximum chemistry possible. Most of the players base their squads on a single league or nation, but the most experienced ones are able to build hybrid teams without hurting chemistry.

This guide is based on our perception of the game, which may be different from yours. It should only be used as an orientation, since it’s impossible to build a team that fits everyone. Besides that, there are several factors we don’t know that influence the choices, such as budget, formation, custom tactics, instructions, style of play and player preferences.
Another important point that must stay very clear to whoever is reading this guide, it’s about some criteria we used:
Only Gold Players
Silver and bronze players are not taken into account in this guide. Most of them are not good enough to replace the gold ones.
Only Regular Players
IF and special items are not taken into account in this guide. Most of them can’t be considered good value for money and should only be used by players with a good budget.
Only Normal Players
Upgraded or transferred items are not taken into account in this guide. Only players who have started their season in this league and with their original attributes were considered.
Another important point that must stay very clear to whoever is reading this guide, it’s about some criteria we used:

We have to say it. We are publishing these guides for almost 10 years and we never saw anything like this. Who is assigning the ratings and stats to the players of this league is doing a terrible job. It’s pretty obvious that is giving better scores to the teams of his preference. This strongly affects the user experience, since the best team of this league has nothing to do with the best players in-game.
Let’s start by the goal. In FIFA 20, the two best goalkeepers are Casillas and Viviano. The first one will probably announce his retirement very soon. The other, has terminated his contract without playing a single game. If you want to pick the best ones, you will have to choose one of these two players, even knowing that they are not playing in Liga NOS. Our preference goes to Viviano, since he is much taller and has a better handling.
On the right side of the defence, Saravia and Ristovski have many things in common. In our opinion, work rates are the tiebreaker. If you want someone specifically to defend, André Almeida is who you should try. On the opposite side, there are two quality choices available: Alex Telles and Grimaldo. The first one is better in almost everything, except dribbling.
There are four centre backs with good defending and physicality stats: Pepe, Mathieu, Rúben Dias and Coates. The first two are also ones to the fastest, something very rare on the CBs from this league. It’s extremely surprising to see Mathieu as the second-fastest central back on this league, since it is widely known that he is in fact one of the slowest in real life.
Danilo Pereira is the right man to play as CDM but, if you want someone more able to start the attack, you may also try Gabriel. Bruno Fernandes, the highest-rated Liga NOS player, is the obvious choice to play as CAM. He’s brilliant in FIFA 20 but, in real life, he is not much better than Pizzi or Rafa, the two best choices for the wings.
In the attack, despite his weak foot, Marega is clearly the best striker. He’s fast, strong and scores a lot of goals. His teammate Soares is our second choice.
Once all players have reached maximum individual chemistry via loyalty (achieved by each player after 10 matches for your club or by being pack pulled), you can go without a manager for your squad. They’ll be of no use while wasting contracts.

If you like solid midfields, you will love this one. Battaglia, Gabriel and Doumbia are all decent midfielders with good defensive skills. In the wings, Corona and Nakajima are responsible to assist Marega, the strongest striker of this league.
If you have a few coins to invest, you can improve this squad adding at least Pepe and Bruno Fernandes.
