THE BEST FIFA 20 PREMIER LEAGUE DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS

Many of the FUT formations require some midfielders that have a natural aptitude to defend. Central defensive midfielders distinguish themselves for being especially aimed to help the back line. According to their attributes and their work rates, they can also be useful to start attacks. They occupy a very strategic position in the field.
You need to look at several attributes when choosing a central defensive midfielder: defending, to be able to support the back line; strength, to win possession more times; heading, to win the ball in aerial moves like goal kicks; pace, to cover as many spaces as possible; stamina, so he can equally participate in offensive and defensive plays (especially useful for players with high/high work rates); passing and possession, so that he can properly start attacks. In our opinion, the two first are the most important ones.

Usually, defensive midfielders are chosen to help the defence. So, it makes sense that they have high defensive stats. The area of the field occupied by CDMs is the one where most ball disputes happen. Strong players will have highest probabilities of winning the ball.

Kanté is one of those players that everyone who is building a Premier League squad wants. He leads in several stats, like pace, dribbling and defending. If you can not afford him, Fabinho, Fernandinho and Rodri are the best alternatives. There are no significant differences between them. The first one defends better, while the second one has better shooting skills. Even not having good pace stats, they are all great players. In fact, pace is not crucial for a defensive midfielder but if you want someone faster, you have Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Torreira.

On the cheapest choices, Ndidi is one of the highlights. He is extremely good on defensive tasks. Jordan Henderson is more popular but is more suitable to play as a CM. Doucouré and Lerma are other decent choices for starter squads.

THE BEST FIFA 20 PREMIER LEAGUE CENTRE MIDFIELDERS

A lot of games are decided in the midfield and not close to the goals. The players that play in these zones are the ones that should create chances and set the pace of the game.
Centre midfielders are responsible for discovering lines that break the opponent’s defence. Their passing quality has to be really good so they can assist forwards.

Good dribbling skills allows the team to move forward, creating potential problems to the other team.

As expected, Pogba is clearly the best player for this position. He has the best shooting and passing stats. Besides that, he’s strong, fast and has 5/4 skills.

We believe that Sissoko was supposed to be a CDM . Players with his profile are more likely to play in that position. He is an alternative to Kanté, not to Pogba. Wijnaldum and Ndombele are fast midfielders able to attack but also to support the back line. If your goal is to find someone more focused on the attack, we suggest to try Giovani Lo Celso and Mateo Kovačić.

Gündoğan, Moutinho and Ceballos are cheaper alternatives to the midfield. Usually, you get a discount on their price when they are slower, but if you want a cheap fast midfielder then you have to try Oxlade-Chamberlain.

On the Premier League, there are many positions that were taken by players who are much better than the other ones. It’s the case of Van Dijk, Kanté, Pogba and… Kevin De Bruyne. He is one of the best players money can buy (or FIFA Points). The most rated Premier League player is obviously one of the most expensive and not everyone will have the chance to play with him. If it is your case, don’t get upset. Eriksen is a top-quality attacking midfielder, who has also 5/4 skills.

David Silva is weak and slow, but one of the best with the ball on his feet. If you want someone more balanced, give a chance to Dele Alli. Those who love fast CAMs should try Lingard. Cheaper options include Mesut Özil (amazing passing and dribbling stats), Manuel Lanzini (weakest CAM), James Maddison (the only new entry), Gylfi Sigurðsson (too slow for most of the players) and Ross Barkley (5/4 skills).

THE BEST FIFA 20 PREMIER LEAGUE RIGHT MIDFIELDERS

Wingers are usually responsible for giving game width in the attack.
Pace is probably the biggest weapon of these players. They use it to escape opponents. However, to be fast isn’t enough to reach the opponent’s box. A good dribbling stat will help you to surpass the opponents’ players that appear on the way. When reaching the opponent’s box, the winger has to decide what to do. Normally, he decides to cross and that’s why it’s so important to have good passing stats.

We can’t remember the last time there was so much quality on the right side of Premier League fields. Salah is the obvious first choice for those than can pay his price. Sterling is also a good option, especially because of his pace. Pépé and Bernardo Silva are two other high-quality alternatives. Pick the one who fits better your needs. They look to have their positions switched. The first makes use of his pace and shooting stats, while Bernardo is known by his amazing dribbling (the best of the entire Premier League) and passing skills.

Mahrez and Willian have both the same quality but they are still too expensive for many squads. Richarlison needs to improve his passing to reach the group of the best CAMs. He is fast, strong, has good dribbling and is 4/5 skills.

For low budgets squads, we suggest Allan Saint-Maximin and Ismaïla Sarr, the fastest ones, as well as Xherdan Shaqiri, if you prefer more balanced players. However, if you need someone 100% focused on the attack, we believe you should try Deulofeu.

Now that Hazard doesn’t play on the Premier League anymore, Mané and Sané are the two best left-wingers. It isn’t obvious who is the best one. Despite his low physicality stats, Felipe Anderson is a decent (and cheaper!) alternative. Martial, our fourth choice, is stronger but his M/L work rates don’t look the most suitable for a winger.

Ryan Fraser is one of the good surprises for who doesn’t want to pay many coins. Another bargain is Miguel Almirón. His item is common (non-rare) making him much cheaper than usual for a player with his stats. He isn’t as good as Trossard but at least he plays better than Pulisic and Bernard.
