FIFA 23 PLAYER CARDS

There are dozens of FIFA 23 Player Card types, with unique designs and colors, making it complex to understand the role of each item.
FIFA 23 Player Cards

Player Cards

FIFA 23 Ultimate Team lets you build your dream squad from thousands of players worldwide. In FUT, players are represented by Player Items – special shields showing each player’s unique in-game ratings and attributes.

Every base player in FUT is Bronze, Silver, or Gold, and has a Common or Rare designation. In addition to these item types, there are also other Special Item designs that recognize select players’ real-world past or present achievements, performances, or participation in various tournaments, as well as prestigious ICON and Heroes items for some of football’s greatest ever players.

FUT also includes an in-game quality filter to help you to search for specific versions of players on the Transfer Market, meaning you’ll be able to search for players by their item type, making it easier to search for and sign new players with multiple Special Items.

FIFA 23 Player Cards are grouped into several categories (we will update the page when more cards are released in the game):

FIFA 23 Base Items

Base Item

Base items are released on day one to all players with their original characteristics and attributes. All other cards are modifications made from these.

According to their rating, base items have different qualities: gold (higher than 74), silver (65-74), or bronze (lower than 65). In addition, each of these cards can be rare or common. Rare cards are assigned to players with standout attributes or characteristics compared to similar players in their position or league or with an outstanding international reputation.
Base items are assigned to every player when the game goes out. In FUT, more than 16,000 day one cards correspond to as many players. Base items are always in packs, for the whole the year, except when it is being released another item of that player.

Cards updated because players move to other clubs are also considered base items, despite not being released on day 1.
Day one cards’cards’ ratings and stats are calculated according to the player’ performance and popularity in the previous 365 days. Therefore, improving the rating or the stats of these cards is impossible.
It is impossible to improve a base item’s rating or the stats.
Every single regular item can be of two types: common or rare. Most gamers think that rare cards, with their bright and luminous aspects, are better than the others. They believe that rare cards were created to help players easily distinguish the best cards. It is not true.

The rare cards are items that have something unique. In the case of players’ cards, for example, the rare cards are assigned to players that have something that no other player has. It can be the tallest goalkeeper of his league, the only player from a country in a particular league, or even a CB with an exceptional attribute compared to players with a similar overall.

These items are usually more valuable than the others, mainly because their discard price is higher.
FIFA 23 Hero Items

FUT Heroes Item

FUT Heroes is a special item assigned to a selection of retired players who didn’t make it to the Icons rank but made a significant impact at their clubs and international level.

In FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, there are two different Heroes cards: the regular version, available from launch and recognizing a memorable moment from their club career; and the FIFA World Cup version, available from November 11 and celebrating an essential contribution to the international stage.

World Cup versions have improved ratings compared to their base items, and the player’s image is replaced by Marvel art. Additionally, based on the progress of their national teams in the competition, the rating and stats of these cards can be improved.
Regular Hero items are released at launch, while World Cup versions go out on November 11.
The overall rating of Regular Hero items can go from 85 to 89. World Cup versions always have a higher ranking, depending on their memorable international moments.
World Cup versions are upgraded based on the progression of their national teams in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Hero items always have three chemistry points when playing in their preferred positions. They will also count as two increments towards their league chemistry threshold and one for the nation.
FIFA 23 Icon Items

Icon Item

Icon items are assigned exclusively to some of retired greatest football players of all time, giving you the chance to play, for example, with Pelé and Eusébio on your team.

Every Icon has four unique versions: Base, Mid, and Prime, reflecting a particular era of their careers, and Moments reflecting a defining moment. Each version has different ratings and stats and is available in packs in another period.
Each Icon version is available in packs at different times:

  • Base version
It often (but not always) reflects a time in the player’s career when they were still developing and had not yet reached their full potential. These items are available in packs from the launch until mid-December 2022 only.

  • Mid version
It often (but not always) reflects an ICON later in their career when they had to adapt their playstyle to stay near the top of their game. These items are available in packs from the launch until mid-February 2023 only.

  • Prime version
It often (but not always) reflects an era of an ICON’s career where they were consistently at the height of their skills and abilities. These items are available in packs from mid-December 2022 until the end of FUT 23.

  • Moment version
Whereas Base, Mid, and Prime versions tell the stories of an ICON’s career, this version focuses on a truly memorable, historical performance in an ICON’s career that elevated them to one of the all-time greats. This version will be introduced into packs throughout February 2023 until the end of FUT 23.
Icons items work similarly to base cards since they are always available from day 1, and every Icon player has their card. However, they replicate the attributes based on players’ skills and flair during their careers.
It is impossible to improve an Icon item’s rating or the stats. However, if you have the lower version, you can try to buy/earn the Mid, Prime, or Moment version, if available. Icon items are also available in other ways like FUT Draft, Special SBCs, and Swaps.
Icon items always have three chemistry points when playing in their preferred positions. They will also count as two increments towards their country threshold.
CONMEBOL Items

CONMEBOL Item

There are two types of CONMEBOL items: Libertadores and Sudamericana. These cards are assigned to all players participating in these tournaments, featuring no boost stats.

They are released on the launch date and remain available in packs until the end of the game, even if the teams are knocked out of the competition.
CONMEBOL Libertadores and Sudamericana items can be found in any FUT pack you open from day one until the end of the game.
The ratings and the stats of CONMEBOL items are calculated according to the player’s performance and popularity in the previous 365 days.

CONMEBOL cards are like base items but assigned to players who participate in Libertadores and Sudamericana. In other words, they feature the actual stats of these players without any upgrade.
It is impossible to improve a base item’s rating or the stats.
Libertadores and Sudamericana items are available in packs from the start. They are tradeable, which means you can also find them in the FUT transfer market.
FIFA 23 TOTW Items

TOTW Item

Team of the Week items are assigned every Wednesday to a selection of players based on their real-life performances throughout the domestic leagues represented in the game. In extraordinary situations, like during international breaks, players who have played well for their national teams can also be selected.

According to their rating, TOTW items have different qualities: gold (higher than 74), silver (65-74), or bronze (lower than 65). In addition, these unique items feature upgraded stats compared to their respective regular or the TOTW/MOTM items.
TOTW items are released every Wednesday at 6 pm (UK time), until the end of the European season.
The rating boost is always relative to the most recent TOTW or MOTM card or, if they don’t exist, to the base item, no matter if the player moved to another club or was upgraded. The position of the players in these cards may change if, in the previous week, he played well in a different position.

Players receive upgrades according to the following table.

FIFA 23 OTW Items

OTW Item

Ones to Watch cards are live items assigned to a selection of the most promising players who have been permanently transferred.

These special items are released on the launch date without any improvement. However, they receive upgrades in the following cases:
  • When the player receives a new TOTW or MOTM item;
  • If the club wins five out of their next ten domestic league games.
OTW items are released in packs when the game goes out and remain available in packs for 5 to 7 days. After this, they are replaced by their base items in packs again and are still available via the FUT transfer market.
Ones to Watch items are released with the same rating and stats as their base items. They can be upgraded later if they meet specific conditions.
Ones to Watch items are upgraded based on:

  • Performance-based Special items
OTW cards are upgraded every time the player receives a new TOTW or MOTM item (until the end of the 2022-23 season). OTW items will NOT be upgraded based on POTM, Award Winner, Record Breaker, TOTT, SBC, or other in-game event selection.

  • Wins to Watch

FUT Champions Items

FUT Champions Item

Every player receives at least one FUT Champions item as part of the Champions Finals campaigns. These weekly rewards, also known as Red Picks, are replicas of the TOTW/TOTS from the active week, with the same rating and stats as these cards.

FUT Champions items are not available in packs and cannot be sold. They can only be earned by who played in the Champions Finals. They are delivered as soon as the player finishes the campaign or Monday morning if he doesn’t.
FUT Champions items are available as rewards when the player finishes his Champions Finals campaign.
These unique cards have the same rating and stats as the individual TOTW/TOTS items. The only different thing is their color.
Once released, FUT Champions items cannot be improved.
No. You won’t get them in FUT packs or on the FUT transfer market. They are untradeable, and you can only get them via FUT Champions rewards or, in rare, upgrade SBCs.
Pro Player Items

Pro Player Item

Pro Players items are unique improved cards assigned by EA Sports to professional football players in a bid to make friends and gain exposure. The real players who have an existing relationship and play FUT are more likely to receive an item from themselves.

Pro Players are 99-rated untradeable items, and you cannot get one unless you are a professional footballer. Therefore, they are unavailable in packs, squad building challenges, or objectives. If you play against someone with one of these cards, you are playing against a professional football player.
Pro Player items are given to Professional Footballers and often featured in Squad Battles. You will never get one if you don’t play professional football in a top-quality club. These cards are not released all at once. Electronic Arts don’t announce them, but they release these items throughout the year.
FUT Pro Players items are 99 all rated. The face stats are also 99, the maximum possible.
You won’t get a FIFA 23 Pro Players item unless you are a professional footballer. Furthermore, they are untradeable and unavailable in packs, SBCs, and objectives.
There is only one Pro Player item for each player.
Storyline Items

Storyline Item

Storyline items are untradeable cards featuring boosted ratings and stats. They don’t receive any further upgrades.

These unique items can only be earned by exchanging XP in the active FUT season. Players get a choice of one of three cards when they reach both level 15 and level 30.
Storyline items are made available as FUT season rewards for six weeks, until a new season goes out.
Storyline cards in FUT 23 have a permanent boost and better stats than their base item, but upgrades don’t follow any pattern.
By completing objectives and earning XP, your level on the season rewards tab will go up. Each level has its season reward or reward choice. In the case of the Storyline items, they are usually assigned to level 15 and level 30.
Storyline items are delivered as soon as you redeem them, which can only happen when you reach the requested amount of XP.
