Introduction to the FUT 15 MLS Guide

Building a team is the biggest challenge in FIFA 15 Ultimate Team. It doesn’t need to be the best team, even because the budget may not allow it, but it needs to be the player’s stature for him to obtain success.

When choosing which players to play with, you will have to look carefully at their attributes. Choosing a team based on ratings is one of the most common mistakes on FUT 15. It’s precisely this aspect that this guide focuses on. For each position, and focusing on the truly important attributes, we’ll show who are the best athletes to choose.

It’s also important that the player checks to see if the player he chooses fits the formations he likes to play in. For example, a good full back will be useless if the player only uses formations with three defenders. According to those formations, the player must be cautious to look at the work rates, trying to relate them with the ones we advise in our Formations Guide.

Last but not least, it’s mandatory that you tune all of your team so that the individual and team chemistry be as high possible. For this last step to be easier, the majority of the players start to define the type of team they’re building. Some choose gathering players of the same nationality, while others decide to form a team of players from the same league. The most popular league is the Barclays Premier League. There are also more experienced players that can form hybrid teams without damaging the chemistry a lot.

All of these steps are necessary to have; it could be that the team is not always well built as it could’ve been. This article aims to help those that think or want to form a FIFA 15 Ultimate Team based on players from the MLS. Even the ones have one, could take out some valuable conclusion from this guide that could help turn your team even better.

It’s important that the readers understand that this guide is simply guidance. It’s a theme too vast and the player’s combinations are almost infinite. Besides, there are various factors that influence the choices, like it’s one’s style of play, the formations used, the available budget, the preferences or even the time spent playing. There’s still one uncertain component: a good player for someone might not be for another. If there was a better team everyone would fight to get it. Part of the fun of FIFA 15 Ultimate Team is this: everyone has their personal club and players.

Another important point and that must stay very clear is that whoever is reading this guide, it’s about some criteria we chose and should be of everyone’s knowledge:

  • Only Gold and Silver Players
    • In this guide we didn’t consider bronze player. Most players don’t assume them to be a better option than gold and silver players, so to simplify the guide’s analysis we didn’t include them. In the future we may come to publish guides exclusively talking about this category.
  • Only Regular Players
    • In this guide we didn’t consider In Forms (IF). They’re extremely expensive and in most cases are not considered good value for money. They should only be used by players with generous budgets, that already have the best team possible and that want small upgrades.
  • Included Winter Transfers and Upgrades
    • In this guide we included the players that have been transferred to other clubs in the 2015 Winter transfer window or that have been reviewed (UP). Only players that started their season in the MLS and with their original attributes were considered.
  • Only Original Attributes
    • In this guide we didn’t consider changes made on a players performance such happens when applying training or chemistry styles cards.
  • Position analysis
    • To make the comprehension of this guide easier we divided the players in nine distinct groups in order of their original position: Goalkeeper (GK), central backs (CB), right backs (RB and RWB), left backs (LB and LWB), central defensive midfielders (CDM) central midfielders (CM and CAM), right midfielders (RM, RW and RF), left midfielders (LM, LW and LF) and forwards (CF and ST).
  • Prices at the date of publication of the guide
    • In the chapter where FIFA 15 Ultimate Team MLS teams are suggested, the prices considered are the ones of March 2015. It’s natural that the prices have suffered some oscillations throughout the season, so they should only be considered as guiding prices.

    MLS

Established in 1993, the main soccer league of the United States of America and Canada (USSF – United States Soccer Federation and CSA – Canadian Soccer Association, respectively) started only in 1996 with ten clubs divided by two conferences, Eastern (Columbus Crew, D.C. United, New England Revolution, New York/New Jersey Metrostars e Tampa Bay Mutiny) and Western (Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas, Kansas City Wizards, Los Angeles Galaxy e San Jose Clash). Years later many changes were made and unmade: the conferences creation, team buying and selling, new rules and club names. Currently the MLS consists of 20 clubs divided in two conferences: the Eastern Conference with Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew SC, D.C. United, Montreal Impact, New England Revolution, New York City FC, New York Red Bulls, Orlando City SC, Philadelphia Union and Toronto FC and the Western Conference with Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo, LA Galaxy, Portland Timbers, Real Salt Lake, San Jose Earthquakes, Seattle Sounders FC, Sporting Kansas City and Vancouver Whitecaps.

Out of the 19 MLS editions we’ve had so far, the clubs with the most trophies are Los Angeles Galaxy (5) and D.C. United (4), while Galaxy are the current champions.

The league is composed in the following way: the regular season with home and away games, followed by playoffs between the best of each conference which are led into a single MLS Cup game to define the big champion of the season.

The most notorious transfers for the beginning of the season are currently David Villa move to New York City FC, Kaká to Orlando City, Sebatian Giovinco, Damien Perquis, Benoît Cheyrou and Jozy Altidore transfers to Toronto FC, Marcelo Sarvas to Colorado Rapids, Sacha Kljestan to New York Redbulls, Marco Donadel to Montreal Impact, David Accam to Chicago Fire and Markus Halsti to Halsti.

With the current investment, the MLS can be projected as one of the main worldwide football leagues. A few points indicate such evolution: the signing of many players well-known worldwide, increase of fans on stadiums and season ticket holders every other season, significant capital application on both main league clubs and smaller clubs. This way, it won’t be that shocking if the new main football scenario turns away to Uncle Sam’s land in a few years.

    FUT 15 MLS Goalkeepers (GK)

Goalkeepers are the players that are less used on field. Because of this they are also the disdained when building a team. Most players start their purchases with a forward, later they strengthen the midfield the defence and only later the goal. The truth is a good goalkeeper may be worth a lot of goals. It’s good investment because they’re normally the most economically accessible players.

Nick Rimando is the most popular goalkeeper of this league.

    MOST HIGH-RATED GOALKEEPERS
Nick Rimando 74 Real Salt Lake United States
    Raïs M’Bolhi 71 Philadelphia Algeria
Jaime Penedo 71 LA Galaxy Panama
Steve Clark 70 Columbus Crew United States
Rául Fernández 69 FC Dallas Peru
Luis Marin 69 Sporting KC Chile
    Donovan Ricketts 68 Portland Jamaica
Bill Hamid 68 D. C. United United States
Luis Robles 68 NY Red Bulls United States
Andy Gruenebaum 67 Sporting KC United States

When choosing a good goalkeeper it’s not only down to his rating. There are two fundamental attributes for choosing a good goalkeeper: reflexes and diving.

Raïs M’Bolhi is the goalkeeper with best reflexes. In MLS, nobody is better than him.

    GOALKEEPERS WITH BEST REFLEXES
    Raïs M’Bolhi 79 Philadelphia Algeria
Nick Rimando 77 Real Salt Lake United States
Steve Clark 77 Columbus Crew United States
Jaime Penedo 76 LA Galaxy Panama
    Donovan Ricketts 76 Portland Jamaica
Bill Hamid 75 D. C. United United States
Luis Robles 75 NY Red Bulls United States
Sean Johnson 74 Chicago Fire United States
Rául Fernández 74 FC Dallas Peru
Joe Bendik 72 Toronto FC United States

Diving is a fundamental attribute when choosing a goalkeeper. It measures the capacity for a goalkeeper to make a save when jumping.

    GOALKEEPER WITH BEST DIVING
Nick Rimando 76 Real Salt Lake United States
Jaime Penedo 75 LA Galaxy Panama
    Raïs M’Bolhi 72 Philadelphia Algeria
    Donovan Ricketts 71 Portland Jamaica
Chris Seitz 71 FC Dallas United States
Jeff Attinella 71 Real Salt Lake United States
Steve Clark 70 Columbus Crew United States
Bill Hamid 70 D. C. United United States
Rául Fernández 70 FC Dallas Peru
David Ousted 70 Whitecaps FC Denmark

The most experienced Ultimate Team players know that another leaning factor on a goalkeeper’s performance without considering the remaining four attributes: height. The more tall a goalkeeper is, better his chances of having a clean sheet.

Eric Kronberg is clearly the tallest goalkeeper playing in MLS.

    TALLEST GOALKEEPERS
Eric Kronberg 195 Sporting KC United States
Josh Saunders 193 New York City FC Puerto Rico
    Donovan Ricketts 193 Portland Jamaica
Chris Seitz 193 FC Dallas United States
Tally Hall 193 Houston Dynamo United States
David Ousted 192 Whitecaps FC Denmark
Joe Bendik 191 Toronto FC United States
Bill Hamid 191 D. C. United United States
Stefan Frei 191 Sounders FC Switzerland
Joe Bendik 191 Toronto FC United States

Nick Rimando is not a tall goalkeeper but he is the one with the best stats for this position, and for that reason he is our choice. Penedo is a good alternative while Raïs M’Bolhi is a cheap decent choice.

FUT 15 MLS Central Backs (CB)

A goalkeepers task is made easier if in front of him are quality central backs. Their function is to stop the opponent from getting dangerously close to your team’s goal.

Damien Perquis, from Toronto FC, is the centre back with higher overall rating.

    HIGHEST RATED CENTRAL BACKS
Damien Perquis 75 Toronto FC Poland
Omar Gonzalez 74 LA Galaxy United States
Matt Besler 73 Sporting KC United States
Raul Rodriguez 73 Houston Dynamo Spain
Aurélien Collin 71 Sporting KC France
Chad Marshall 71 Sounders FC United States
Victor Bernárdez 70 SJ Earthquakes Honduras
    Liam Ridgewell 70 Portland England
Steven Caldwell 70 Toronto FC Scotland
Clarence Goodson 70 SJ Earthquakes United States
Carlos Bocanegra 69 Chivas USA United States
Matt Hedges 69 FC Dallas United States
Andy O’Brien 69 Whitecaps FC Ireland
Michael Parkhurst 69 Columbus Crew United States
Bobby Boswell 69 D. C. United United States

On a central back, two attributes assume particular importance on their performance: defending and heading.

A player with better defending will have an easier chance of dispossessing the opponent and avoid him reaching your box.

Once again, Damien Perquis has the best defensive skills, just like Matt Besler.

    CENTRAL BACKS WITH BEST DEFENDING
Damien Perquis 75 Toronto FC Poland
Matt Besler 75 Sporting KC United States
Omar Gonzalez 74 LA Galaxy United States
    Carlos Valdés 73 Philadelphia Colombia
Chad Marshall 72 Sounders FC United States
Clarence Goodson 72 SJ Earthquakes United States
Raul Rodriguez 72 Houston Dynamo Spain
Steven Caldwell 71 Toronto FC Scotland
Matt Hedges 71 FC Dallas United States
    Liam Ridgewell 70 Portland England
Michael Parkhurst 70 Columbus Crew United States
Aurélien Collin 69 Sporting KC France
Bobby Boswell 69 D. C. United United States
Chris Schuler 69 Real Salt Lake United States
Andy O’Brien 68 Whitecaps FC Ireland

The new physical attribute shows the old heading capability but also how likely the players are to win game with their body. This is a crucial attribute when looking for the best centre back.

Aurélien Collin and José Gonçalves are the centre backs with best physical in MLS.

    CENTRAL BACKS WITH BEST PHYSICAL
Aurélien Collin 84 Sporting KC France
José Gonçalves 84 New England Portugal
Jámison Olave 83 NY Red Bulls Colombia
Damien Perquis 83 Toronto FC Poland
Omar Gonzalez 82 LA Galaxy United States
    Pa-Modou Kah 82 Portland Norway
Victor Bernárdez 81 SJ Earthquakes Honduras
Chad Marshall 79 Sounders FC United States
    Carlos Valdés 78 Philadelphia Colombia
Ike Opara 77 Sporting KC United States
Clarence Goodson 77 SJ Earthquakes United States
Drew Moor 77 Colorado Rapids United States
Doneil Henry 76 Toronto FC Canada
Steven Caldwell 76 Toronto FC Scotland
Jeff Parke 76 D. C. United United States

Defending and heading may be useless against fast opponents. It’s necessary to fight fire with fire. No likes feeling impotent when seeing you get overrun by extremely fast players. Even though, in a way, centre backs aren’t that fast, every team needs one of these players with a high pace attribute.

Ike Opara is clearly the fastest one. It is not easy to find a centre back as fast as he is.

    CENTRAL BACKS WITH BEST PACE
Ike Opara 86 Sporting KC United States
Matt Besler 76 Sporting KC United States
    A.    J. DeLaGarza 74 LA Galaxy Guam
Jámison Olave 74 NY Red Bulls Colombia
Doneil Henry 73 Toronto FC Canada
    Liam Ridgewell 71 Portland England
    Pa-Modou Kah 70 Portland Norway
Michael Parkhurst 68 Columbus Crew United States
José Gonçalves 67 New England Portugal
Drew Moor 67 Colorado Rapids United States
Omar Gonzalez 66 LA Galaxy United States
    Carlos Valdés 66 Philadelphia Colombia
Raul Rodriguez 65 Houston Dynamo Spain
George John 64 FC Dallas United States
Aurélien Collin 63 Sporting KC France

Our defenders choice for the central defensive system shouldn’t be thought out just according to the attributes highlighted above. Formation is relevant because if you choose to play with three centre-backs it’s recommended that you have at least two reasonably fast players in there. In case you go for the usual two centre-backs assisted by full-backs, all the squad planning quite changes a bit. Our choice is Omar Gonzalez for he has good balance among the necessary attributes for the position. Matt Besler is an alternative. Our economic choice will be Damien Perquis.

FUT 15 MLS Right Backs (RB and RWB)

Full backs have the role of troubling the mission of the wingers. Not only. In addition, good full backs also support their team mates on offensive maneuvers.

Three players lead the overall ranking to this position: DeAndre Yedlin, Andrew Farrell and Sean Franklin.

    HIGHEST RATED RIGHT BACKS
DeAndre Yedlin 68 Sounders FC United States
Andrew Farrell 68 New England United States
Sean Franklin 68 D. C. United United States
Akira Kaji 67 Chivas USA Japan
Hassoun Camara 66 Montreal Impact France
Chance Myers 66 Sporting KC United States
Bradley Orr 66 Toronto FC England
Sheanon Williams 65 Philadelphia United States
Zach Loyd 65 FC Dallas United States
Kofi Sarkodie 65 Houston Dynamo United States

There are very important attributes in any right back: defending and pace.

Since they’re defenders they should have good defending capacities. This reduces a team’s risk of conceding.

Andrew Farrell is the one that gives more security to the defence.

    RIGHT BACKS WITH BEST DEFENDING
Andrew Farrell 69 New England United States
Sean Franklin 67 D. C. United United States
Akira Kaji 66 Chivas USA Japan
Tony Beltran 66 Real Salt Lake United States
Bradley Orr 66 Toronto FC England
Chance Myers 65 Sporting KC United States
Hassoun Camara 64 Montreal Impact France
Zach Loyd 64 FC Dallas United States
Kofi Sarkodie 64 Houston Dynamo United States
Sheanon Williams 63 Philadelphia United States

A flanked game tends to be faster than a game based in the middle of the field. The players that fill these spaces are obligated to be fast, both penetrating defensive and attacking moves of the team. Pace is one of the most important requirements for a good full back.

DeAndre Yedlin is the fastest right back playing in MLS.

    RIGHT BACKS WITH BEST PACE
DeAndre Yedlin 93 Sounders FC United States
Sean Franklin 84 D. C. United United States
Kofi Sarkodie 84 Houston Dynamo United States
Tony Beltran 84 Real Salt Lake United States
Andrew Farrell 83 New England United States
Sheanon Williams 81 Philadelphia United States
Chance Myers 81 Sporting KC United States
Zach Loyd 77 FC Dallas United States
Hassoun Camara 74 Montreal Impact France
Akira Kaji 74 Chivas USA Japan

DeAndre Yedlin is undoubtedly the best right back playing on MLS. Sean Franklin is the best alternative to him and Andrew Farrell is our economic choice.

Best FUT 15 MLS Left Backs (LB e LWB)

Left backs have exactly the same role of their team mates on the other flank. In other words, they try to make a winger’s job hard and participate on the team’s offensive manoeuvres.

Justin Morrow is the most rated left back in MLS but Roy Miller and Seth Sinovic are also very close.

    HIGHEST RATED LEFT BACKS
Justin Morrow 67 Toronto FC United States
Roy Miller 66 NY Red Bulls Costa Rica
Seth Sinovic 66 Sporting KC United States
DaMarcus Beasley 65 Houston Dynamo United States
Jair Benítez 65 FC Dallas Colombia
Chris Tierney 65 New England United States
Chris Klute 65 Columbus Crew United States
Chris Wingert 65 Real Salt Lake United States

Once again, Justin Morrow is better than the other left backs.

    LEFT BACKS WITH BEST DEFENDING
Justin Morrow 67 Toronto FC United States
Seth Sinovic 66 Sporting KC United States
Chris Tierney 65 New England United States
Chris Wingert 65 Real Salt Lake United States
Chris Klute 64 Columbus Crew United States
Jair Benítez 63 FC Dallas Colombia
Roy Miller 61 NY Red Bulls Costa Rica
DaMarcus Beasley 60 Houston Dynamo United States

DaMarcus Beasley is the fastest left back playing in USA.

    LEFT BACKS WITH BEST PACE
DaMarcus Beasley 85 Houston Dynamo United States
Jair Benítez 80 FC Dallas Colombia
Chris Klute 80 Columbus Crew United States
Roy Miller 76 NY Red Bulls Costa Rica
Justin Morrow 72 Toronto FC United States
Seth Sinovic 68 Sporting KC United States
Chris Tierney 66 New England United States
Chris Wingert 60 Real Salt Lake United States

Our favourite to play in the left side of the defence is DaMarcus Beasley because he is the one with more balanced stats. Justin Morrow is our second choice and Chris Klute the economic one..

Best FUT 15 MLS Defensive Midfielder (CDM)

Many of the FIFA 15 Ultimate Team formations require some midfielders that have a natural aptitude to defend. Central defensive midfielders distinguish themselves for being especially aimed to help the more retreated line of their teams. According to their attributes and their work rates, they can also be useful for starting attacks. They are players that occupy a very strategic position in the field.

Jermaine Jones and Osvaldo Alonso are the three most popular CDM playing in Major League Soccer.

    HIGHEST RATED CENTRAL DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS
Jermaine Jones 77 New England United States
Osvaldo Alonso 76 Sounders FC Cuba
Kyle Beckerman 74 Real Salt Lake United States
Benoit Cheyrou 74 Toronto FC France
Maurice Edu 71 Philadelphia United States
Matías Laba 71 Whitecaps FC Argentina
Marco Donadel 70 Montreal Impact Italy
José Mari 69 Colorado Rapids Spain
    Diego Chará 68 Portland Colombia
Perry Kitchen 68 D. C. United United States
Hendry Thomas 68 FC Dallas Honduras
Jeff Larentowicz 68 Chicago Fire United States
Jorge Claros 67 Sporting KC Honduras
Ricardo Clark 67 Houston Dynamo United States
    Michel 67 FC Dallas Brazil

There are a variety of attributes in a central defensive midfielder that you have to give attention: defending, so that the first defender of team works; strength, so that you win all brawls on a prone area of the field; heading, to win possession in aerial moves like goal kicks; pace, so that you cover the most terrain on the field as possible; stamina, so they can equally participate in offensive a defensive moves (especially useful for players with high/high work rates); passing and possession so that he can properly start attacks. In our opinion the two first are the most important.

Normally using a central defensive midfielder is associated with having a deficit of elements in your defence. So, it makes sense that when you search for a player to occupy this position you’d want players that can defend.

Jermaine Jones is the highest rated CDM is MLS but also the one who has the best defensive skills.

CENTRAL DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS WITH BEST DEFENDING
Jermaine Jones 77 New England United States
Osvaldo Alonso 75 Sounders FC Cuba
Kyle Beckerman 72 Real Salt Lake United States
Maurice Edu 72 Philadelphia United States

    Michel 66 FC Dallas Brazil
Agustín Pelletieri 65 Chivas USA Argentina
    Diego Chará 64 Portland Colombia
Ricardo Clark 64 Houston Dynamo United States

The area of the field occupied by the central defensive midfielders is the one where most ball dispute happen. Strong players will have a higher probability of winning the ball.

Jermaine Jones is a really great player, how can you see once again by his physical.

CENTRAL DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS WITH BEST PHYSICAL
Jermaine Jones 84 New England United States
    Markus Halsti 82 D. C. United Finland

This one is easy. Jermaine Jones is our favourite.

A lot of games are decided on the midfield and not close to the goals. The players that play in these zones are the ones that should create the game and define its rhythm.

The very popular Kaká is the most popular one.

The wingers are responsible for giving game width in the attack. They’re normally very explosive players.

Vicente Sánchez and Oscar Boniek Garcíais are the MLS right wingers with best reputation.

    HIGHEST RATED RIGHT WINGERS
Vicente Sánchez 72 Colorado Rapids Uruguay
Oscar Boniek García 72 Houston Dynamo Honduras
    Darlington Nagbe 71 Portland Liberia
Mauro Rosales 71 Whitecaps FC Argentina
Justin Mapp 70 Montreal Impact United States
Stefan Ishizaki 70 LA Galaxy Sweden
Yannick Djaló 69 SJ Earthquakes Portugal
Lamar Neagle 68 Sounders FC United States
Sebastien Le Toux 67 Philadelphia France
    Jackson 67 Toronto FC Brazil

There are three fundamental attribute on a winger: pace, dribbling and passing.

Pace is probably the biggest weapon of these players. They use it to evade opponents and getting to the other side, many times through sprints on the side lines.

Yannick Djaló is a really fast player.

    FASTEST RIGHT WINGERS

Teal Bunbury 82 New England United States
    Jackson 82 Toronto FC Brazil
Justin Mapp 79 Montreal Impact United States
Oscar Boniek García 78 Houston Dynamo Honduras

Just being fast doesn’t cut it to reach the opponents box, having good dribbling to surpass the opponents’ players that appear on the way.

    RIGHT WINGERS WITH BEST DRIBLLING
    Darlington Nagbe 77 Portland Liberia
Vicente Sánchez 77 Colorado Rapids Uruguay

Mauro Rosales 72 Whitecaps FC Argentina
Lloyd Sam 72 NY Red Bulls Ghana
Marvin Chávez 71 Chivas USA Honduras
Lamar Neagle 70 Sounders FC United States

When reaching the opponents box the winger has to decide what to do. Normally, they choose to cross to the forwards. That is why it’s important for them to have good passing.

Mauro Rosales is the player with best passing skills.

    RIGHT WINGERS WITH BEST PASSING

Yannick Djaló 62 SJ Earthquakes Portugal
Lamar Neagle 62 Sounders FC United States
Lloyd Sam 61 NY Red Bulls Ghana

To us, Vicente Sánchez is the most balanced right winger. Darlington Nagbe is also a good player and Mauro Rosales is the right choice for low budget squads.

Best MLS Forwards (CF e ST)

The forwards are the players on which fall the most responsibility of scoring goals.

The EA ambassador Clint Dempsey is the biggest name of MLS.

    HIGHEST RATED FORWARDS
Clint Dempsey 81 Sounders FC United States
Jermain Defoe 80 Toronto FC England
David Villa 80 New York City FC Spain
Thierry Henry 79 NY Red Bulls France
Robbie Keane 79 LA Galaxy Ireland
Obafemi Martins 78 Sounders FC Nigeria
Landon Donovan 77 LA Galaxy United States
Sebastian Giovinco 76 Toronto FC Italy
Marco Di Vaio 74 Montreal Impact Italy
Jozy Altidore 74 Toronto FC United States
Erick Torres 73 Chivas USA Mexico
Álvaro Saborío 73 Real Salt Lake Costa Rica
    Gilberto 73 Toronto FC Brazil
Wright-Phillips 72 NY Red Bulls England
Cris Wondolowski 72 SJ Earthquakes United States

To score goals shooting is necessary. If either by foot or head, the most important attribute for a forward are: shooting, heading and pace.

Most goals are scored with the foot so good shooting is a necessary attribute for a forward.

Jermain Defoe is the strongest forward in this attribute.

    FORWARDS WITH BEST SHOOTING
Jermain Defoe 85 Toronto FC England
David Villa 83 New York City FC Spain
Robbie Keane 81 LA Galaxy Ireland

Cris Wondolowski 72 SJ Earthquakes United States
Erick Torres 71 Chivas USA Mexico
Sebastian Giovinco 70 Toronto FC Italy

Jump, strength and stamina are the ingredients to the new physical attribute, very important when we are analysing the best forwards: jump to score with the head; strength to dispute the ball with the opponents; and stamina to sprint in direction of goal at any time of the game.

Steven Lenhart is the player with best physical.

    FORWARDS WITH BEST PHYSICAL
Steven Lenhart 82 SJ Earthquakes United States

Erick Torres 73 Chivas USA Mexico
Dom Dwyer 73 Sporting KC England
Edson Buddle 73 Colorado Rapids United States
Quincy Amarikwa 72 Chicago Fire United States

Depending on the style of play and formation having good shooting and heading may not be enough for a striker. Especially in games that privilege counter-attack, pace is a very important attribute.

There are several fast forwards playing in MLS but Obafemi Martins is the fastest one.

Wright-Phillips 82 NY Red Bulls England
Dom Dwyer 80 Sporting KC England

It is not easy to choose the best forward of this league. It depends of what you need. If you are looking for someone fast, Obafemi Martins is who you are looking for. If you need a finisher, Jermain Defoe is the best choice. However, if you are looking for a balanced player, follow our suggestion and pick Clint Dempsey

Jermain Defoe is our alternative and Obafemi Martins our economic choice.

    MLS Team Suggestions

A lot of people think that this is the most important part of the guide. It’s not. The thing that is really important to know is how to choose player based on their role and style of play that fits each player. And that is made in the previous chapters. The team suggestions that follow are simple graphic indicators of what we wrote previously. They should serve merely as orientation because it’s impossible to build a team that fits everyone. They depend on various factors we don’t know such as budget, formation, style of play and player preferences.

To try and explore the needs of the maximum player as possible we suggest three teams with different budgets and formations: 4-1-2-1-2 with unlimited budget, 4-3-3 with medium budget and 4-4-2 with a low budget.

    • Summary
    • The choice for this team’s players was based on analysis made in the previous chapters.

Rimando is surprisingly good on the goal line although he seems a bit short. Penedo is a bit taller and has got similar attributes, naturally a good substitute option.

The central defenders will balance the defensive system with pace, physicality and good defending. The substitutes are slower, but they’ll do the job when needed. The starting full-backs are extremely fast, they’ll do a good job up front and still come back to defend. The substitutes are not so fast, but they’ve got better defending capacities.

The midfield is well balanced both among the starting eleven and the substitutes, we’ve got fast defending midfielders with good physicality and interceptions. The starting left and right midfielders aren’t as fast as the substitutes, but they’ve got the best qualities on other attributes (passing, shooting and dribbling). The central playmaker needs no introduction, he’s still of great help in the midfield despite the advanced age. His substitute is faster and has got enough dribbling to get past anyone.

The attackers are mixture of excellent attributes, for example, finishing, dribbling and agility.

    • Summary
    • The choice for this team’s players was based on analysis made in the previous chapters.

Some players’ high prices determine significant changes, although the concurrence still doesn’t lack much quality.

Penedo is our reference. M’Bohli is a great substitute with excellent reflexes.

The centre-backs have got balanced defending capacity and physicality, however, they’re slow. The substitutes are mixture of pace, defending and physicality. Both the starting and substitute full-backs are great alternatives for the central defence support.

Bradley and Osvaldo have got regular physicality and defending capacity, giving space to Morales’ play making. In our second team Higuaín’s regularity and Edu’s interceptions stand out. Both the starting and substitute wingers are noticed for their pace and dribbling.

Both Martins and Giovinco are extremely pacey ones, great fit for this type of formation.

The starting goalkeeper is M’Bohli, with great reflexes and low price. His substitute, Ricketts, is reasonable for the position, he’ll the job if needed.

The centre-backs are fast with good physicality. The full-backs are very fast, this is why they can support the central defence, plus a regular physicality, although they seem to lack defending capacity.

dribblers and strikers. In case you have some coins left, a few punctual changes may be needed.

    1. With MLS, you really shouldn’t ignore Bronze players. Wynne and Ashe are two great defenders, whose pace more than makes up for bronze (and Ashe has 3* skills). Also, this guide ignores a few important attributes like skill moves that can impact play…it’s why I choose Klute over Beasley. And Kaka, while great, seems to have terrible stamina…he can hardly finish a game for me. Better to put Villa up front with Martins, and Dempsey back at CAM. Plus Deuce is taller.

    2. with ea announcing price ranges being introduced in a few hours this will change the transfer market forever
surely this will minimise coin making methods for example the removal of open bids. do you think this is a good thing for fut taking into consideration other facts for it being introduced

      1. Rodrigo Lopes (Admin)

In my personal opinion, it is a really bad thing. It will change FUT forever. Trading will not be fun any more.
