A new chapter for Football Ultimate Team launches in FC 27, introducing the FUT Gallery, Holographic Items, Streamlined SBCs, branching Evolution Pathways, Single Player Live Events and a more balanced approach to squad progression.
These changes are designed to give Player Items a lasting purpose, make rewards more immediate and flexible, and allow players to use their squads for longer throughout the season.
What is New in FC 27 Ultimate Team?
FC 27 Ultimate Team expands how you collect, display and upgrade Player Items. The new FUT Gallery records eligible Items acquired during the season, while Gallery Sets, Grades and rewards introduce an additional long term progression system.
Ultimate Team also receives faster SBC completion, more flexible Evolutions, dedicated offline Live Events, a central Campaign Hub, fewer weeks featuring Campaign Squads and a smaller gap between base Items and the most powerful Items released near the end of the season.
FUT Gallery
The FUT Gallery creates a permanent record of most eligible Player Items obtained through Packs, the Transfer Market, Objectives, SBCs and other Ultimate Team rewards.
An eligible Item continues contributing to the Gallery even after it has been sold, submitted into an SBC or otherwise removed from the active Club. Loan Items are not eligible, while Evolution Items are represented by the original base Item used before the Evolution began.
Registering an Item in the Gallery does not consume or duplicate the playable card. The record remains available even if the original Item is later sold, discarded or submitted into an SBC.
This gives Player Items a lasting purpose beyond the starting eleven, the Transfer Market and SBCs.
Gallery Sets and Grades
The Gallery contains themed Sets based on categories such as Nations, Leagues, Clubs and Campaigns. Items can be added manually or through the autocomplete option.
Each completed Set receives a Grade based on the Items included. Every Item has a Score calculated from its Overall Rating, rarity and Holographic status. The combined Scores determine the final Set Grade.
Sets can be improved throughout the season by replacing regular Gold Items with Campaign Items, Heroes, ICONs or Holographic versions. Certain Item combinations can also activate Tags that provide additional Score bonuses.
First Owner Items can also provide bonus value through the applicable Gallery Tags. The bonus is added to the final Set Score and does not change the Item’s normal base Score.
Gallery Level and Custom Sets
Completing and improving Sets increases the overall Gallery Level, creating a progression path alongside squad building and competitive modes.
Custom Sets allow players to showcase favourite footballers and create displays around personally selected themes, even when those combinations are not part of a standard progression Set.
Gallery Rewards and Tokens
Improving Set Grades and reaching Gallery milestones can unlock cosmetics, Gallery Tokens and other rewards. Higher Set Grades provide access to additional rewards.
Gallery Tokens can be exchanged in the Gallery Token Store for rewards related to club identity and football fandom, including Kits, Badges and a new class of historical Items named Hall of FUT.
The Token Store will evolve throughout the season, while Gallery Level milestones can provide larger rewards and opportunities to earn Holographic Items.
Gallery Hub and 3D Items
On PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, the Gallery Hub provides a three dimensional Ultimate Team environment where Player Items, favourite Sets and other Club content can be displayed.
Player Items can appear as three dimensional objects, allowing the environment to change visually as the Club progresses from Bronze, Silver and Gold Items to Campaign Items, Heroes, ICONs and Holographic Items.
Holographic Items
Holographic Items are rarer visual versions of eligible special Player Items. When a special Item is available in Packs, a Holographic version of the same Item may also be obtainable.
Holographic versions have the same Attributes and in match performance as their standard counterparts. Their differences are limited to rarity, Gallery Score and premium visual presentation.
Regular Holographic Items feature an animated foil effect. Pristine Holographic Items receive an even more distinctive appearance, including the player’s name displayed in a stylised font.
Each eligible Player Item can have only one Holographic version, either Regular or Pristine. Due to their greater rarity, these Items contribute more towards Gallery Set Scores.
Simplified Item Rarity
Base Bronze, Silver and Gold Items will no longer be divided into Common and Rare categories. They will instead be classified simply as Bronze, Silver or Gold.
Consequently, Packs will no longer guarantee a stated minimum number of Rare Items. EA intends for the probability of receiving base Player Items rated 82 or below to remain consistent with FC 26, although individual Items with the same rating may continue to have different probabilities.
Streamlined SBCs
Streamlined SBCs introduce a faster way to complete most Player and Upgrade SBCs. Instead of building a complete squad around Chemistry, positions and squad rating requirements, players can select eligible Items directly from their Clubs.
Every submitted Item contributes a Score based on its Overall Rating and rarity. This is the same scoring system used by the FUT Gallery. The SBC is completed when the required total Score is reached.
Multiple versions of the same player, including duplicates, can contribute towards the requirement. Players can use a larger number of lower rated Items, fewer higher rated Items or a combination of both.
Partial SBC Progress
Streamlined SBCs support partial submissions. Players can submit some Items, retain their progress and return later to complete the remaining Score requirement.
EA plans to use this system across most Player and Upgrade SBCs. Traditional SBCs featuring Chemistry, positions and puzzle based requirements will remain available for Challenge SBCs.
Evolution Pathways
Selected Evolutions can now feature branching Pathways. Instead of following one predetermined sequence of upgrades, players may be able to choose between different development options.
One Pathway could improve dribbling and provide the Technical PlayStyle, while another could improve defensive awareness and add Jockey. This allows the same base Item to develop differently according to squad requirements and playing style.
Not every Evolution will use Pathways. Traditional linear Evolutions will continue to be released alongside the new branching format.
Evolution Chain Preview
Evolution Chain Preview allows players to examine how one Evolution can lead into subsequent Evolutions before committing an Item.
Players can preview the result of the first Evolution and discover which additional Evolutions may become available afterwards. This makes it easier to plan longer upgrade routes directly within Ultimate Team.
PlayStyles Lab
The PlayStyles Lab returns as a recurring programme beginning in Season 1. Eligible Items will contain a selection of available PlayStyles, allowing players to customise part of the Item without completely replacing its original identity.
Different PlayStyles may require different amounts of time or effort to obtain. These adjustments are intended to preserve the distinctive characteristics of each player while encouraging greater variety in squad building and gameplay.
Campaign Hub
The new Campaign Hub brings current Ultimate Team content together in one location. Campaigns can include Objectives, SBCs, Evolutions, Gallery Sets, Live Events and other activities.
Players can use the Hub to understand what is currently available, identify upcoming rewards and navigate directly to the relevant content.
Single Player Live Events
Live Events expand with dedicated single player experiences against themed AI opponents. Events can feature custom squads, unique rules, specific entry requirements and connected challenges.
Some events may allow players to select a difficulty, while others can become progressively harder across several rounds. A tournament could begin on Semi Pro before advancing through Professional and World Class difficulty and ending with a Legendary final.
These events give players who prefer offline Ultimate Team a dedicated way to participate in themed content and earn progress at their own pace.
Slower Item Progression
At launch, Player Items will have similar ratings and PlayStyle levels to FC 26. However, the difference between base Items and final Campaign Items is intended to be meaningfully smaller by the end of the season.
Attribute upgrades will be more controlled to preserve player identity and avoid blurring the distinction between attacking, defensive and other specialised roles.
The maximum number of PlayStyles+ available on a single Item has also been reduced from five to three.
Fewer Campaign Squads
Approximately five fewer weeks will feature a new Campaign Squad during the FC 27 season. Live content will continue during those periods, but without another promotional squad entering Packs.
The average size of Campaign Squads will also be reduced when appropriate, although promotions such as Road to the Final may continue to include more players because of their broader selection of participating Clubs.
These changes should give Campaigns more individual importance and allow players to use their Items for longer before needing another squad upgrade.
Balanced Squad Upgrades
FC 27 is designed to create a steadier path from starter squads to elite squads. Establishing a strong team during the earlier stages will require more engagement, while obtaining an elite squad should become more achievable through continued play and skill.
Campaigns will generally feature a narrower range of ratings and Attributes, helping each released Item provide a more meaningful upgrade.
Expanded Role++ Familiarity
Every special Player Item released throughout the season will receive Role++ familiarity for every role available in its primary and secondary positions.
This provides considerably greater tactical flexibility and makes it easier to use special Items across different formations and tactical systems.
End of Match Rewards
FC 27 introduces End of Match Rewards in selected Ultimate Team modes. A portion of the rewards previously concentrated in weekly competitions and Live Event Objectives will move into Match Coins and Season Progress earned after individual matches.
This provides a clearer sense of progression after every match and allows players to continue earning meaningful rewards after completing their weekly requirements.
More Flexible Rewards
A greater share of rewards will be delivered through direct Coins and tradeable Packs. This gives players more freedom to improve their Clubs through matches, SBCs or activity on the Transfer Market.
Event Tokens will also return through evergreen and event specific programmes, allowing players to work towards rewards of their choice across different modes.
FC 27 Ultimate Team introduces new progression systems without focusing exclusively on building the strongest possible starting eleven. The FUT Gallery gives lasting value to collected Items, while Holographic versions and three dimensional displays provide new ways to personalise and showcase a Club.
Streamlined SBCs reduce repetitive squad building, Evolution Pathways offer more control over player development and Single Player Live Events expand the experience for offline players.
Combined with fewer Campaign Squads, smaller endgame upgrades, a maximum of three PlayStyles+ and more immediate rewards, these changes aim to create a steadier and more flexible Ultimate Team season.
