Spain won the European Football Championship 2012, held in Poland and Ukraine.
The UEFA Euro 2012
The Spanish football team showed again its world hegemony by winning the third consecutive major international title. Spain joined the UEFA Euro 2012 to the Word Cup 2010 and to the UEFA Euro 2008, after beating Italy in the final played in Kiev (4-0).
After winning the group C with wins over Ireland and Croatia and a draw with Italy, the Del Bosque boys defeated France in the quarter-final and Portugal in the semi-finals, on penalty kicks. In the final, they returned to face Italy, which had eliminated England and Germany.
Beyond the finalist teams, two other teams practiced good football and promoted the celebration of European football: Germany and Portugal of Cristiano Ronaldo. In the opposite direction, was the Netherlands. It was considered one of the favorites to win, but have lost all the three games.
