The Best Centre Backs
A goalkeeper’s task is made more accessible if in front of him are quality central backs. Their function is to stop the opponent from getting dangerously close to your team’s goal.
On a centre back, two attributes assume particular importance in their performance: defending and physical.
A player with good at defending will have higher chances of dispossessing the opponent and avoiding him reaching his box. The physical attribute measures how likely the players are to win possession using their bodies.

Global Overview (CB)
It’s strange to have Can as the best center-back in a league with famous names like de Ligt, Upamecanos, and Lucas Hernández. However, the truth is no one is better than him. You must pick him if you want to build a strong Bundesliga team. He is fast, robust, defends well, and no other CB can start an attack as he does.
For the second position, we have a tie. Matthijs de Ligt is slower but most solid in the defense. If we had to choose only one, it would be him because he’s more balanced, but you would be OK with Klostermann too. Upamecano could also be an alternative if it wasn’t for his dangerous high attacking work rate.
If you want to save your coins, you can try Gvardiol, one of the good surprises for this position. On the opposite side, we do not recommend Süle, despite his great defending stats, since he is too slow.

The Best Right Backs
Bundesliga right backs have the same role as their team mates on the other flank. In other words, they try to make a winger’s job hard and participate in the team’s offensive manoeuvres.
Defending and pace are critical attributes for any right back.
As defenders that they are, they should have good defending capacities. This reduces a team’s risk of conceding.
A flanked game tends to be faster than a game in the middle of the field. Therefore, the players that fill these spaces need to be fast, penetrating, defensive and attacking moves of the team.

Global Overview (RB, RWB)
There is a lack of quality among the right-backs playing in Germany. Most of these players are slow and don’t even have good defensive skills. Hopefully, Frimpong is one of the few exceptions. He’s extremely fast and has good dribbling skills, but in everything else, he is just decent.
The best alternative to him is Mazraoui, who is a more balanced player but also slower. We would love to have Klostermann as the primary replacement but despite his poor passing, he can only play as CB and RWB, not RB.
We left Kimmich and Meunier out of the top 3 because, in our opinion, a right back has to be fast, which is not their case. Süle and Mavropanos are good players but don’t have the profile to play as right-backs.

The Best Left Backs
Bundesliga left backs have the same role as their team mates on the other flank. In other words, they try to make a winger’s job hard and participate in the team’s offensive manoeuvres.
Defending and pace are vital attributes for any left back.
As defenders that they are, they should have good defending capacities. This reduces a team’s risk of conceding. A flanked game tends to be faster than a game in the middle of the field. The players that fill these spaces need to be fast, penetrating, defensive and attacking moves of the team.

Global Overview (LB, LWB)
In our opinion (and probably almost everyone’s opinion), Alphonso Davies is the best left-back player in Bundesliga. He is the fastest LB in the world and one of the best dribbling opponents.
Unfortunately, there are not many good options in this league. Raum is also fast but can not be considered a good left-back, especially considering his poor defending skills. If you want someone more balanced, Angeliñno may be interesting.
Gvardiol and Lucas Hernández are decent choices if you give more value to the defensive skills. However, they have the right profile to play as center-backs, so don’t expect outstanding performances as left-backs. That’s why we think Hincapié may be more beneficial for most players.
