FC 27 ACCELERATE
FC 27 Accelerate is an expansion to the player movement system, dividing them into three unique archetypes.
What is Accelerate?
Accelerate was first introduced in FIFA 23 exclusively on next-gen platforms to improve player movement and running mechanics. Drawing inspiration from the subtle differences in how real-life footballers move, even among those with similar pace, Accelerate brings these nuances to the virtual pitch.
In FC 27, Accelerate further enhances gameplay realism while highlighting player personalities and offering a broader variety of player types. It classifies players into three distinct running styles based on their acceleration and sustained speed capabilities:
- Lengthy
- Explosive
- Controlled
How Types are Assigned
AcceleRATE is automatically assigned to players based on a combination of their Acceleration, Height, Agility, and Strength attributes. Acceleration and Sprint Speed, however, remain the main factors determining a player’s overall speed.
The player type is determined before kick-off, meaning it can be influenced by attribute changes such as Chemistry prior to the match. It is not affected by in-game attribute changes, including stamina depletion.
Frequently Asked Questions
FC 27 Accelerate features an improved player movement system that classifies players into three distinct archetypes: Controlled, Explosive, and Lengthy.
The system is designed to showcase different running styles by grouping players according to their acceleration and ability to sustain top speed.
The system is designed to showcase different running styles by grouping players according to their acceleration and ability to sustain top speed.
Lengthy is the most popular of the three Accelerate types. These players are exceptionally powerful runners and are often considered overpowered.
There are three Accelerate archetypes:
- Explosive
Quicker to start, but the acceleration rate slows down. - Lengthy
It starts slower but will thrive over longer distances. - Controlled
Accelerate uniformly in a controlled manner.
Chemistry Styles can affect a player’s Accelerate type. Before kick-off, the game assesses whether a player fits into the Lengthy, Explosive, or Controlled archetype based on their attributes after applying Chemistry Style boosts. This means a player initially classified as Controlled could change to the Lengthy type if their boosted stats meet the required thresholds.
However, not all players are eligible for this adjustment. Some attributes may remain too low even after the boost, and factors such as height, which also influence archetype, cannot be altered.

In FC 27, Accelerate is primarily determined by Agility, Strength, and Acceleration, so only Chemistry Styles that boost these attributes can change a player’s Accelerate type.
To make a player Explosive, you need to use Chemistry Styles that enhance Agility, such as Finisher, Artist, and Engine.
To make a player Lengthy, you need to use Chemistry Styles that boost Strength, such as Architect, Backbone, Sniper, Hawk, Marksman, Sentinel, and Anchor.

No. Accelerate is an exclusive feature for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Accelerate Types
Accelerate is an expansion to the player movement system, dividing players into three unique archetypes:
4.5 Lengthy
Requirements
▲ Excels in long sprints, enabling players to pull away from defenders over distance.
▲ More effective in physical duels, especially for strong center backs and strikers.
▲ More effective in physical duels, especially for strong center backs and strikers.
These players start slower but will thrive over longer distances. They are taller, stronger, and need a bit more time to get going, but they can catch up to anyone and even surpass them, provided they have enough distance.
3.5 Explosive
Requirements
Max 182cm (Men)
Max 162cm (Women)
Min 65 Agility
Min 10 Agility – Strenght
Min 80 Acceleration
Max 162cm (Women)
Min 65 Agility
Min 10 Agility – Strenght
Min 80 Acceleration
▲ Provides rapid acceleration over short distances for quick bursts.
▲ Ideal for beating opponents in tight spaces, especially with agile wingers or attacking midfielders.
▲ Ideal for beating opponents in tight spaces, especially with agile wingers or attacking midfielders.
These players are quicker to start, but their acceleration rate slows down. They are shorter, more agile, and can quickly cover short distances and get ahead of their opponents, even if that means slowing down after the initial burst of acceleration.
3.0 Controlled
Any player not meeting the requirements of the other types
▲ Offers stable, balanced acceleration that adapts to varied playstyles.
▲ More consistent performance when changing direction, suitable for possession-based players.
▲ More consistent performance when changing direction, suitable for possession-based players.
Most players in FC 26 will fall into the Controlled type as they accelerate uniformly in a controlled manner.
In short, Explosive players can likely do better at short distances and one-on-one situations than Lengthy players who will do better over long distances, such as in breakaways after a through ball behind the defense, for example.
