In Ultimate Team, player ratings reflect both skill level and popularity, making comparisons easier. However, it’s important to note that the overall rating (from 1 to 99) is not an average and doesn’t include every attribute. In some cases, players with lower FC 27 ratings may actually be a better fit for your team.

To properly evaluate a player, focus on their attributes. The six main ones (pace, shooting, passing, dribbling, defense, and physical) give a much clearer view of their strengths and style of play.

The FC 27 Ratings are announced earlier this year on August 21st, though only provisionally. Certain updates, such as PlayStyles and new clubs or leagues following transfers, won’t be updated until September. Put simply, we get the provisional announcement in August, followed by the official database reveal on September 10th.
A player’s base Ultimate Team item normally keeps the same ratings throughout the game cycle. However, EA may release separate special items with improved attributes, while certain live items and Evolutions can receive upgrades when their specific conditions are met.
Electronic Arts relies on an extensive network of real-life scouts, who attend matches and review game footage to assign ratings to each player in the game.
Base Player Items cannot normally be upgraded directly. However, eligible players can receive improved items through Evolutions, while some live items can be upgraded when their campaign conditions are met.

No. Manager Items do not use the same Overall Rating system as Player Items. Their main Ultimate Team functions relate to squad management and Chemistry.

Destined for Glory is the first Ultimate Team campaign of FC 27, featuring a squad shaped by community voting. From August 21 to September 10, players can vote for any footballer in the Ratings Database, with no limit on how many players they support. The selected Player Items will be eligible for live upgrades based on real-world performances. The campaign runs from September 25 to October 9, 2026.
