Every choice matters: careful planning from the outset helps you progress faster and more sustainably. If you want to get ahead or avoid early mistakes, keep reading.
For newcomers, this guide provides a clear introduction to what lies ahead. Whether your focus is on trading or gameplay, effective club management is essential. Establishing a strong foundation is crucial for long-term success. Timing is key, particularly at the start of FC 27 Ultimate Team, one of the most important phases of the game.

Prepare Yourself
Before the season begins, preparation is crucial. Planning ahead makes all the difference. Just as no one wins a chess game without understanding the rules, success in FC 27 Ultimate Team relies on knowing how the game works. You don’t need to master every detail, but a solid understanding greatly increases your chances.
If you’re new to Ultimate Team, exploring the basics on our website is highly recommended. Returning FC 26 players should focus on what’s new and what has changed, including the FUT Gallery, streamlined SBCs, branching Evolutions, Single Player Live Events, Holographic Items, new reward options, and changes to item rarity.
During the planning phase, set clear expectations. Consider the type of club you want to build. Will you manage multiple squads? Aim for top players or explore underrated options? Focus on base items or prioritise special items? Outline your goals, whether climbing to the top divisions or playing casually. Decide how much time you’ll commit, how you intend to earn rewards, and whether you plan to purchase FC Points.
The more of these questions you answer now, the better prepared you’ll be. Early planning sets the foundation for stronger results throughout the season.
Start as Soon as Possible
In FC 27 Ultimate Team, the early bird catches the worm. Starting as early as possible can be valuable, as the Transfer Market changes rapidly during the opening days. Taking swift action allows you to identify opportunities, earn early rewards, and stay ahead of market trends.
Getting ahead early doesn’t just boost your Coin balance. Building a stronger team from the outset can help you win more matches and qualify for better rewards.
Here’s how you can kick-start your journey effectively:
- Play the Beta
Get a feel for the game by taking part in the FC 27 Closed Beta. Your progress will not carry over to the full game, but the experience can help you become familiar with the gameplay and menus. - Web and Companion Apps
Use the Web and Companion Apps to manage your club, complete available SBCs, claim rewards, and access the Transfer Market before playing the full game, provided your account is eligible. - EA Play
Subscribe to EA Play to access the limited FC 27 trial during the early access period. Trial time is limited, so use the Web or Companion App for club management whenever possible. - Ultimate Editions
The Ultimate and Ultimate Plus Editions provide up to seven days of early access. The Ultimate Edition includes up to 6,000 FC Points across three monthly drops, while the Ultimate Plus Edition includes up to 10,000 FC Points across five monthly drops. The first 2,000 FC Points are granted when you first log in, subject to the applicable conditions. - Buying FC Points
If you’re willing to spend additional money, FC Points can be used to purchase packs or enter Draft. FC Points cannot be converted directly into Coins, although tradeable pack contents can be sold on the Transfer Market. - Game Release
Be active during early access and the worldwide launch, when a large number of items enter the market. Increased supply can create buying opportunities, but prices remain highly volatile during this period.
Pick Your Starter Pack
The first thing you’ll be asked to do is choose the pair of leagues with the strongest presence in your Starter Pack. If you already have a team in mind, don’t overlook this step, as it can provide useful players for your first squad and early Chemistry links.
If you haven’t decided on a team yet, choose the leagues that offer the greatest flexibility for your initial squad. Starter Pack items are untradeable, so they cannot be sold on the Transfer Market. However, they can still be used in your squad, Evolutions, Gallery Sets, or eligible SBCs.
Avoid discarding untradeable players unnecessarily. They may become useful for future squad requirements, Gallery progress, or SBC submissions.
Sell Your Tradeable Items
Item availability may be limited at the start, so any tradeable rewards you receive can help you build your initial Coin balance. Starter Pack items are untradeable, but other packs and rewards may contain items that can be listed on the Transfer Market.
Once you’ve opened your first packs, your Ultimate Team journey truly begins. You’ve been provided with enough content to start building your club, so manage your resources carefully and complete the introductory tasks before making expensive purchases.
Your main priority should be establishing a financially sustainable club, and Coins are key to that. Consider converting tradeable items you do not need into Coins while keeping useful untradeables for your starting squad, Evolutions, Gallery Sets, and SBCs.
Do not sell every tradeable item automatically. Check current market prices first, as certain players, managers, consumables, and club items may be more valuable because of Chemistry, SBC requirements, Evolutions, or limited supply.
Selling unnecessary items gives you flexibility when assembling your first squad. Rather than being limited to the players in your Starter Pack, you can use the Coins you earn to purchase players who better match your formation and playstyle.
Collect More Coins and Rewards
Selling items at the beginning provides a solid start, but completing the available introductory content can accelerate your progress. Explore every suitable opportunity:
- Objectives and Season Progress
Complete introductory, daily, weekly, and seasonal Objectives to earn packs, players, SP, and other rewards. - Foundations
Complete the Foundations content available through the Campaign Hub. These introductory activities are designed to help you understand the mode and begin improving your squad. - FUT Gallery
Add eligible Player Items to Gallery Sets and improve their grades. Completing Sets and increasing your Gallery Level can provide cosmetics, Gallery Tokens, Holographic Items, and other rewards. - Evolutions
Develop eligible players instead of immediately replacing them. Before committing, use the Evolution preview tools to check available upgrades and possible Evolution chains. - SBCs
Complete affordable Foundation, Upgrade, and other suitable SBCs. FC 27 introduces streamlined SBCs that allow you to submit eligible items progressively until the required score is reached. Always compare the submission cost with the value of the reward. - Squad Battles and Single Player Live Events
Use your starter squad in offline matches to earn rewards while learning the gameplay. Single Player Live Events can also provide themed opponents, Objectives, and progression rewards. - Rivals and Live Events
If you are ready to play online, use Rivals and eligible Live Events to work towards weekly and event rewards.
Start Trading
Now that you’ve built up some Coins, it’s time to grow your balance. Begin with low-risk trades while keeping a reserve for squad improvements and unexpected opportunities. Don’t worry about a slow start, as the season is long. Reinvest carefully without committing your entire balance to a single item or market trend.
Market behaviour is particularly unpredictable at the beginning. Coin supply is limited, pack supply changes quickly, and demand increases as more players begin building their squads. If you pack a valuable player, check their current demand, supply, links, and potential usefulness before deciding whether to sell or hold.
Prices do not all follow the same pattern. Some desirable players may rise during early access, while others may fall as more packs are opened. New SBCs, Evolutions, rewards, and promotional content can also cause sudden changes.
For your first trades, focus on affordable items with consistent demand and enough potential profit to cover the five percent Transfer Market tax. Consumables and other frequently used items may offer opportunities, but no trading method guarantees profit.
Buy low and sell higher whenever market conditions allow. Monitor prices, diversify your investments, and keep enough liquid Coins to remain flexible. Once your balance grows and you understand the market better, you can gradually begin trading more valuable players.
Build Your Team
Now that your setup is sorted, it’s time to assemble your team. In Ultimate Team, it’s not just about gathering top players. You need to create a balanced squad with suitable attributes, PlayStyles, roles, and Chemistry.
Players earn Chemistry through combinations involving their clubs, leagues, and nations. However, Chemistry should not be your only consideration. Focus on how each player’s attributes and characteristics align with your formation, tactics, and playstyle. A highly rated team is less effective if the players do not complement their assigned roles.
If you completed eligible FC 26 Pre-Season Objectives, claim the corresponding FC 27 rewards when they become available. Packs and Player Items earned through Objectives, SBCs, Editions, and other introductory content can also reduce the number of positions you need to fill through the Transfer Market.
Build a balanced starting eleven before spending heavily on substitutes. Begin with affordable players, then upgrade the weakest positions as your budget grows. Use Concept Squads to plan your team and determine which purchases should be prioritised.
Keep versatile substitutes who can cover multiple positions or help you change your approach during a match. Avoid spending your entire budget on one star player if doing so leaves major weaknesses elsewhere in the squad.
Play
If you’ve followed our advice, your club is ready to progress. Practise before taking on stronger opponents. Start with Squad Battles on a suitable difficulty using your starter players. This helps you become familiar with the gameplay while working towards weekly rewards.
You can also use Single Player Live Events to face themed AI opponents and complete connected challenges. Enable the Trainer feature if you need additional guidance during matches, then disable individual indicators as you become more confident.
Use loan players carefully in difficult matches, as most loans have a limited number of appearances. Rivals, Champions, Challengers, Squad Battles, Live Events, Objectives, and other activities offer different reward paths, so choose the modes that suit your current level and available time.
Draft requires an entry fee paid with Coins, FC Points, or a Draft Token and provides a temporary squad, so you do not need to use players from your own club. However, rewards vary according to your results and are not guaranteed to exceed the entry cost.
Don’t worry about maintaining a perfect record at the beginning. Concentrate on learning the gameplay, improving your squad, and completing suitable Objectives. Avoid quitting matches unnecessarily, as this can reduce the Coins earned from future matches through your DNF modifier.
Keep your club progressing by playing consistently, claiming rewards, and reviewing which areas of your squad need improvement.
