All Game Modes Explained
Co-Op Seasons
Co-Op Seasons follows the competitive structure of Online Seasons, but allows you to team up with a friend and face other online duos in ranked 2v2 matches.
Kick Off
Kick Off lets you quickly play local matches against friends or the CPU using available clubs and national teams. It also includes different match types, custom rules and stat tracking for more varied experiences.
Practice Arena
Available through Learn to Play, the Practice Arena provides an open training environment where you can practise shooting, dribbling, penalties, free kicks and other techniques with a selected player and goalkeeper.
Skill Games
Skill Games feature targeted challenges designed to improve specific techniques, including passing, shooting, dribbling and set pieces. Your results can also be compared with those of friends through leaderboards.
Training Centre
Located within Learn to Play, the Training Centre introduces essential gameplay mechanics through structured chapters, exercises and matches, making it particularly useful for new and returning players.
Manager Career
Manager Career lets you take charge of a club across multiple seasons, managing transfers, finances, tactics, player development and club objectives. You can begin an Original Career or play Manager Live content, including official and community-created Creator Challenges with unique starting conditions and objectives.
Online Friendlies
Online Friendlies let you challenge a friend in a five-match season. Results are tracked until one player wins the trophy, after which you can begin another season to defend or reclaim the title.
Player Career
In Player Career, you control the journey of a single footballer. Develop your attributes, complete objectives, earn transfers and pursue individual and team honours while experiencing matches from the player’s perspective.
Seasons
Online Seasons lets you use an authentic club or national team in ranked 1v1 matches. Earn enough points to secure promotion, avoid relegation and progress through the online divisions.
The Grounds
The Grounds is FC 27’s social football playground, where you can customise your avatar, meet friends, improve your abilities and participate in activities ranging from Kickabouts and 1v1 matches to Clubs. The Grounds is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
Clubs
Integrated into The Grounds, Clubs lets you create and develop a Virtual Pro before joining friends and other players in team-based online matches. Choose a position, earn Skill Points and improve your attributes as you help your club progress through its competitive journey.
Tournaments
Tournaments lets you create custom competitions or play licensed tournaments from the world of football, including the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Women’s Champions League and CONMEBOL Libertadores.
Ultimate Team
Football Ultimate Team lets you build and manage your dream squad, acquire Player Items through Packs, rewards and the Transfer Market, and compete across online and single-player modes. FC 27 adds the FUT Gallery, Holographic Player Items, branching Evolution Pathways, streamlined SBCs, the Campaign Hub and Single Player Live Events.
Ultimate Team Game Modes
Every year, Electronic Arts expands Football Ultimate Team with new ways to play, progress and compete. FC 27 offers its most varied selection yet, combining competitive multiplayer, casual events, single player challenges and matches with friends.

Champions
Champions is Ultimate Team’s premier competitive mode. After qualifying through Rivals, players compete in a weekly campaign of up to 15 matches, with stronger performances leading to better rewards.
Challengers
Challengers is a weekly competitive mode for players in Division 7 or below. It follows a structure similar to Champions, but offers a more accessible competition in which players attempt to secure up to five wins.
Couch Play
Couch Play is a local multiplayer option that lets players compete against each other or play together on the same console using separate controllers. It is designed for casual Ultimate Team matches with friends in the same location.
Draft
Draft tests your squad building and match skills by letting you create a temporary team from random selections of Player Items, including footballers you do not own. You can then enter a four round knockout competition against online opponents or the AI. The further you progress, the better your rewards can be.
Live Events
Live Events are limited time competitions featuring unique entry requirements, squad restrictions, rules and rewards. FC 27 includes both Multiplayer and Single Player Live Events. Multiplayer formats include Tournaments, which use four match knockout brackets, and Gauntlets, where players use different squads and try to earn as many wins as possible across a limited number of matches.
Single Player Live Events
Single Player Live Events let you face themed AI opponents in limited time competitions. Events can feature connected challenges, increasing difficulty levels, custom opposition squads and specific match objectives, with rewards earned by progressing through the event.
Moments
Moments are short single player scenarios built around specific objectives, such as scoring within a time limit, recovering possession or finishing from a cross. Completing them earns Stars, which can be exchanged for rewards in the Moments Gallery.
Play a Friend
Play a Friend lets you invite a friend to a direct Classic 11v11 Ultimate Team match. These matches are casual and do not affect Rivals, Champions or other ranked progression.
Rivals
Rivals is a seasonal online competition with skill based matchmaking and divisions. It can be played solo or cooperatively, with victories helping you climb the ladder, improve your rank and earn better rewards. Rivals is also the qualification route for Champions.
Rush
Rush is a fast paced 5v5 mode in which each user controls an individual Player Item. Join friends or other players, combine your selected footballers as a team and compete for objectives and rewards in shorter matches.
Squad Battles
Squad Battles is a single player mode in which you face squads created by other members of the Ultimate Team community and controlled by the AI. Each weekly campaign includes up to 14 eight minute matches, with results determining your leaderboard rank and rewards.
Objectives
Objectives are progression tasks rather than a separate game mode. Complete club management and gameplay objectives to earn Season Points, advance through the Season Pass and unlock rewards such as Packs, Player Items, Coins and customisation content.
Squad Building Challenges
Squad Building Challenges are squad creation puzzles rather than playable match modes. Build and submit squads that meet specific requirements in exchange for rewards. Submitted Player Items are permanently removed from your club.
New Game Modes
FC 27 places a major focus on improving Ultimate Team and introducing a new open-world mode.
