Base Version

1994

Having impressed in training, Jay-Jay Okocha signed for German side Borussia Neunkirchen, before climbing the divisions to Eintracht Frankfurt. His flair and silky skill bamboozled many players, most famously Oliver Kahn, who described himself as ‘still dizzy’ years after conceding against the Nigerian.

Internationally, the Super Eagles soared to 5th in the FIFA rankings, the highest ever spot for an African side, after winning the 1994 African Cup of Nations. Okocha was named in the team of the tournament.
Mid Version

2002

Jay-Jay Okocha was at his most prolific in terms of goal scoring at Fenerbahçe, the midfielder falling just short of averaging a goal every two games for the Turkish side in his two seasons at the club.

Many of his goals came from free-kicks, his quality at set-pieces making him a threat from anywhere around the penalty area.
Prime Version

1998

Jay-Jay Okocha made a big money move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 1998, becoming the world’s most expensive African player at that time. He scored on his debut for the club and was a fan favourite for Les Parisiens, described as being ‘so good they named him twice’.

Okocha was influential off the pitch as well as on it, taking a pivotal role in mentoring a young Ronaldinho.
