CENTRAL POINT is the fortnightly column of FIFA U Team website, written by Hugo Versiani.
You will find here the most hot Ultimate Team topics but also old stuff, described in a very objective and special way.
In this new episode, “How Useful Are FIFA Youtubers ?”, the author analyses the videos produced about Ultimate Team that you can find in the Youtube.
FIFA Youtubers
Going once, going twice, going three times. Sold! Youtuber “AAA” wins by two broken chairs, one controller thrown against the wall and 77 whines per minute. If you’re a fan or subscriber of one of the FIFA Youtubers this probably sounds familiar to you. But aren’t the MLS TOTS and Corinthians/Flamengo not being in FIFA 16 what’s hot in the moment? Yes, but I can’t leave FIFA 15 behind without approaching this theme.
Before we go on I have to share my own experience on this, then I can criticize (not only in a negative way) others and not be seen as a hypocrite. In a few months I’ll have been in FIFAUTEAM for a year and my academic degree has made no difference during this first season. Just like many youtubers, my articles come from curiosity, interest, studying and also having fun, which makes this section of the website a hobby for me. Why not?
Profession or not, the fact is that the number of FIFA youtubers around the web is growing ridiculously fast. With the easy access for several entertainment tools by part of society, millions of videos on the theme are posted every day. Today’s Central Point will approach the world of gamers who turned fun into business.
And right before you ask: -But who do you think you are, Hugo, to be talking about this? I ask you: What differs someone’s content from someone else’s content? This is the first topic that inspired me to write this for you guys so that everyone can share their opinion. We do know that, no matter the subject, there are always going to be lies being told and published all around the web.
No ass-kissing intended, we know our website has an important contribution on having fun with the game. Every time I want to go look for some info on other websites, I search for the same stuff on FIFAUTEAM. The result? They almost never tell me something I don’t know.
Youtube FUT Playlist
If you haven’t watched any of these videos yet or aren’t familiar with this kind of youtube channel, I’ll try and give you an idea of what it looks like.
- Pack openings
the best example we can give you. Youtubers usually wait until the TOTY or TOTS are out to get more views. Many of them are sponsored by coin-selling websites, they advertise these websites in their videos in exchange for free coins. It’s either them or someone who’s managed to make millions of coins on the transfer market doing pack openings. Don’t fool yourself thinking that in just 8 minutes a youtuber managed to pull 22 TOTY or TOTS, because there’s a lot of editing involved. You don’t see many pack openings where they use FIFA points, do you? Maybe if money grew on trees.
- Challenges where you can only use players out of their natural positions
A team with CR7 or Messi as a goalkeeper and De Gea alongside Courtois up front, for example. But there can be many variations: squad full of goalkeepers, full of pace, weaker squads against top squads, attackers only, defenders only and midfielders only. Anyway, the creativity keeps on going. Can you think of something else for FIFA 16?
- Man of the Match
two squads with the same formation, both all-bronze or all-silver except for one player. One squad led by CR7 and the other led by Messi as the absolute best. Who wins? You play the same number of games with each team and in the end see who had the best stats. I’d love to see if these two would stand against the king of FUT 15: Doumbia! So, my challenge is out there.
- Live Streams
playing games of FUT live for the audience. It’s normally either online seasons or tournaments that EA release. Youtubers also answer to their subscribers’ questions once in a while. Many of the questions are regarding the game itself, others are mainly banter but there are also people who want to know more about how they make their videos. More youtubers? Yes!
- Tutorials
How to perform that one skill? What about flawless finesse shots? Corner set pieces? These videos make it easier for anyone who wants to get better at the game. In short: Can I help? Just let me know how.
- Playing Tournaments
these videos, mainly, are what keeps the channel active, since almost every week there’s a new tournament with different participation requirements. EA TOTS, Serie A TOTS, Ligue 1 TOTS, La Liga TOTS, Bundesliga TOTS and BPL TOTS were the tournaments people were looking forward to the most. They offer cards that could be great options for your club.
- Ultimate Team debates
themes which are part of the game in general. Videos with “Price Ranges” in the title get the most views. It’s the cause of debates among the fans. Videos like these lower the distance between the formal language we see in notes published by EA and the FUT fans. They also simplify other changes that are made in the game.
- Full in form squads
During pack opening season clubs get more and more colorful. This way many youtubers build squads with the highest ratings possible and use them to dispute online matches. This year we had squads full of TOTY, IF, Heroes, FTS and TOTS. People should talk more about these cards’ performance, since they’re mostly inaccessible, instead of just bragging about having the cards we already know are the best.
Give it a thumbs up, comment and subscribe?
Yes! But hold on. If it’s for entertainment, your laughter is what counts. To share information, Youtube isn’t always the best place. As the years go by, the videos’ amateur aspect is blending in alongside professionalism, creating a zone with a considerable number of amateurs sharing content without any kind of beginning, middle or end. The videos’ final quality is also one point to be observed. Low quality audio, blurry image, bad lighting and cuts that don’t make sense, no way. Anyway, it never hurts to do some research before. If you’re looking for information on video or by reading, be sure to give priority to the best content, always looking out for all the elements (speech, video and audio).
What if FIFAUTEAM joined the team? Would our compromise with the game be well appreciated on Youtube? Now it’s up to you, until next time!
