In this third FIFA 16 episode, “World top FIFA 16 team of not so expensive players”, the author suggest a top team of the cheapest players.
World top FIFA 16 team of not so expensive players
If you wanted to get yourself a dream team without paying the extremely high prices we would normally have to, a relatively cheaper one but still a top team, would that be possible? The answer is YES, that would be possible! Naturally we won’t be able to afford a Ronaldo or a Messi, but we’ll still be dealing with some beast attributes. For this we’ll have to stop giving priority to chemistry, mainly, but that’s no big deal. I understand that many people will die for a squad chemistry of 100. This last week, in fact, we’ve been talking a lot about players without chemistry. With the tests I made last year I could see that chemistry did make a lot of difference, it wasn’t just a psychological thing, and I know that because we actually did a lot of testing (feel free to check out the article A Química do Mal), but in this FIFA things may have changed, I’ve seen many comments by people saying chemistry isn’t making all that difference, so you might wanna try this out just for fun, since the game is all messed up already anyway.
Choosing your team
Let’s start with the goalkeeper. You want one that isn’t bad in any of the main attributes for the position: Diving, Reflexes, Positioning and Speed (Handling and Kicking don’t really matter). Filtering it this way, we can see that the Uruguayan Muslera is one of the best at Positioning and the third best at Speed. For a goalkeeper, speed and reflexes are really important, and seeing that his positioning also isn’t bad, there it is, we found our guy! If he played in a popular league he’d certainly be costing around 10k, but since it’s just the Turkish league you’re good to go with only 850 coins.
Similar quality between these two, but one costs 800 coins and the other costs 10k!
Now it’s time to choose centre backs. Like we said before, centre backs must have mainly high Defending and Marking (we’ll analyze the rest of the attributes later). Using these two attributes as filter we verified that Thiago Silva and Chiellini are the two best centre backs in the game, and that’s why they’re so expensive. Shall we see who comes next? Sergio Ramos and Hummels, still too much for our budget. Will we actually be able to get ourselves a top quality centre back without spending much? We kept on searching and found the centre back Garay standing in fifth place, and his price? 2500 coins. He has the seventh best defending in the entire game. He isn’t fast at all, fair enough, but 52 of pace for a centre back will still do since the game is no longer mainly based on pace. With his 87 on Interceptions, Garay is our first choice for the centre back position.
Now our second centre back. It’s a dispute between Per Mertesaker and Martin Stranzl. Mertesaker wins on defensive attributes, but he’s pretty slow (okay, extremely slow). Martin has some better looking speed stats but isn’t as good as Per on the rest of the attributes. I chose to go with Mertesaker because the full backs we’re about to choose are good for defending and can make up for his low pace. By the way, Mertesaker isn’t that cheap, he costs 4500 coins against Martin’s 800. I think that’s a good price for a top ten centre back but that would be up to you.
Now let’s deal with our full backs. First the left back. I want a fast one of course, slow full backs usually don’t do much, but I also want one with good marking and defending. So let’s filter in order to ignore any left back with less than 80 of defending, and we also don’t want one with less than 80 of pace. Only 8 players remain once we set that filter, these are the top ones. We can see there’s Alaba, Marcelo and Jordi Alba among them, but they’re too expensive of course. So far we have two options in the top 8 for the left back position that cost very little: Kieran Gibbs and Gael Clichy. We have a tie on almost every important attribute, but I’ll go with Gibbs for his Agression stat, which is important for winning challenges, but you’re all set as well if you choose Gael for his pace. Either way you’ll be spending something between 2 and 3k for the left back position.
Now what about the right back? This one is easy: Stephan Lichtsteiner has excellent pace, aggression and marking. He’s great and costs only 3k. You have other good cheap options, there are even non-rare gold players that cost 400 coins as good choices, such as Mário Gaspar, so depending on your budget you might as well save money on this position because, honestly, there isn’t much difference among the best players.
Now we need to define our formation, since I personally like using a CDM to help out the defence and leave the rest of the midfielders free to attack, I’m going with a 4-1-2-1-2 (2) not using any LM/LW/RM/RW so I can have two CMs, one CAM and two STs. So let’s analyze our CDM. This guy must have some excellent defending attributes, like marking and interceptions, plus good passing. It sounds like too many qualities, but we’ll find someone with these characteristics. Let’s set 80 for minimum defending. Pace might not be everything but I don’t want a CDM with less than 60 of pace, because his role demands a lot of movimentation. I want someone with high Interceptions because he’ll be our first interceptor, so it’s important that he has at least 85 on that. Put all that together and who do we get? Philip Lahm!!! Okay, he won’t do, after all you need at least 50k to buy him, so let’s see who else has these characteristics. And surprisingly a player that costs only 4k shows up. He has 71 of pace (excellent), 84 of marking (totally excellent), 72 of passing and then 80 of defending. The guy is a beast! Grzegorz Krychowiak (I most definitely did copy and paste the name), Sevilla CDM who’s now also in our “world top team of not so expensive players”.
Two CMs, the highest the passing the better. Certainly Pirlo and one more, it just doesn’t matter which attribute, Pirlo is the man, and he isn’t even that expensive, costs around 4k, worth every penny.
Our second CM is slow but he’s a beast at short and long passes and since we need to get ourselves used to playing more slowly, Francisco Totti is my choice. Alright, originally he is a CF, but you can just use a couple of position changers in order to get him to the midfield. For people who don’t want a slow player, Parejo is a good choice, but I’ll stick with Totti no doubt!
Now we must choose our attacking players, one CAM and two STs left. The CAM must have good long shot and shot power stats since he’s a player that’ll often shoot from a long distance. Our ideal player would be Fred Guarin, but for some random reason he’s costing too much at the moment (12k). Although if money isn’t a problem for you, you should go for him. Then comes Fabio Guagliarella, he costs just 800 coins but surprisingly has the seventh best shot power stat and fifth best long shot in the game. Fabio is originally an ST but since he has “only” 83 of finishing I chose to use him as a CAM for shots outside of the area.
Finishing is THE attribute for STs, you can’t throw away chances inside the area. One of the STs at least must be fast, the other one can have just great finishing and heading (for scoring on corners) and that’ll do. The first spot goes to Javier Hernandez, chicharito! He’s a combination of great pace, finishing and reasonable price.
Our second man can be slower but must have excellent heading accuracy, and you can’t do without at least 85 of finishing of course. We found the perfect guy for the role, the good old Mario Mandzukic! That’s right, the king of headers. He is no longer one of the best in the world, but has great finishing and still one of the best heading accuracies in the game. Also, he’s pretty strong (87 of strength), that will help you win lots of challenges.
And our team ended up like this:
Certainly you can make changes to improve this team if you have some coins left, like when I said Guarin would be an excellent CAM but we chose to buy Guagliarella instead for he’s cheaper, now if you have like 500k you can build an even better team (we spent less than 100k). Will chemistry make all that difference? For now I don’t know, but soon I’ll play against strong opponents using this team and I’ll bring you guys the results.
That’s it for today, see yooooooou later!
