Server Status


There are mainly three reasons why you may be unable to connect to the FC 26 servers:

  • The EA servers are down;
  • The platform servers are down;
  • There is a scheduled maintenance ongoing.
If you were kicked out of matches or are unable to connect, you need to check the server status to know if you can do anything to fix it or when everything will be back to normal.

How To Check the EA Servers Status
  1. Go to the EA website;
  2. Scroll down to ‘EA SPORTS FC 26’;
  3. Check if the server is working (green).
How To Check the PlayStation Servers Status
  1. Go to the PlayStation website;
  2. Select the region of your account;
  3. Check if ‘Gaming and social’ is green.
How To Check the Xbox Servers Status
  1. Go to the Xbox website;
  2. Click in ‘Multiplayer gaming’ and ‘Games & gaming’;
  3. Check if they are all ‘up and running’ (green).

In contrast, playing through a game data center (Football Club servers) provides centralized data distribution for all participants. The game and the data center synchronize inputs at predefined intervals, ensuring that information is sent to all players simultaneously. While individual experiences may vary based on connection quality, the overall gameplay remains unaffected.

For example, if a player with a weak Wi-Fi signal and active high-resolution streaming experiences disruptions, it won’t impact others in the match. The game data center ensures stable data distribution at scheduled intervals.

On FC servers, the server acts as the match host, managing gameplay data for all players. In contrast, P2P matches assign one player as the host, affecting connection stability.

Before implementing a new game data center, EA carefully analyzes the long-term effects it would have on the players in the surrounding region since simply adding more doesn’t automatically result in a better player experience.
FC 26 will try to match you with the optimal game data center for online matches, prioritizing proximity. However, this is not always guaranteed.

Due to infrastructure limitations or business decisions, internet service providers (ISPs) may route data through various locations, including global routes.

As a result, your connection to a game data center that isn’t the nearest may still offer the best connection in certain situations. Additionally, issues with internet routing or technical problems at specific game data centers could impact the connection route.

‘Approximate Location Matchmaking’ is a feature that uses your IP address to find an opponent closer to you for online play in Head to Head modes. To turn it on follow these steps:
  • From your main FC screen, navigate to to [Customise];
  • Select [Online Settings];
  • Select [Matchmaking Options];
  • Change ‘Approximate Location Matchmaking’ to ‘Yes’.
