FC 26 FITNESS

FC 26 Fitness is a measure of the player’s physical condition.

Fitness

Fitness refers to one’s physical condition, encompassing attributes like agility, speed, balance, and coordination.

In FC 26 Ultimate Team, fitness is quantified on a scale from 1 to 99, with higher values indicating better physical condition. A rating of 99 reflects optimal fitness, while a rating of 1 signifies a critical state that players aim to avoid.

There are two ways to visualize a player’s fitness:

  1. In-Game (blue bar above the player name);
  2. Team Management Screen (pause – team management – green bar above the player name).
Bars

Fitness Bars

During a match, each player has two fitness bars:

  • Instant bar
    represented by a blue bar that goes red in extreme situations;
  • Accumulated bar
represented by a white bar overlaid by the blue bar.
The first aspect of fitness declines during actions like sprints and tackles but recovers over time. The second aspect steadily decreases throughout the match, setting a limit on how much energy can be restored.

For example, in the illustration above, the player starts with high energy (left) but quickly depletes it during intense activity. With enough rest, they can regain most of their energy. However, in the later stage of the game (right), even with rest, they can no longer fully recover their initial fitness level.

How Fitness is Affected

In general, a player’s fitness level will vary based on the following factors:

  • Playing Time
The longer a player stays on the pitch, the more fitness they lose. Typically, playing only one half results in about half the fitness loss compared to a full 90-minute match.
  • Stamina
Stamina varies between players. To maintain high energy levels throughout the match, ensure your players have a strong ‘stamina’ in-game (IG) stat.
  • Effort Made
Fitness depletion depends on distance covered, intensity, and frequency of movement. The more effort a player exerts, the faster their fitness declines.
  • Injuries
Keeping an injured player on the pitch significantly reduces their fitness, especially when they engage in challenges.
Frequently Asked Questions
FC 26 Fitness measures the player’s physical condition.
A player with very low fitness will have poor performance. His movements will be slower, and he won’t be able to keep up with his teammates and opponents. Besides, he’s more likely to get injured.
Many have claimed that Fitness is no longer a factor in FIFA, but this is incorrect. The major change introduced in FIFA 21 is that all players begin matches with maximum Fitness. This means there’s no longer a need for fitness squads, applying fitness items, or giving players rest. They’re always prepared to play.

Consequently, fitness items and fitness coaches were removed from Ultimate Team due to this alteration.
A player’s spent fitness is directly proportional to how long he’s on the pitch. So, generally speaking, if he plays just for one half, he’ll have spent half the fitness he would’ve spent playing 90 minutes.
Stamina differs between players and determines how fast their fitness declines during a match. Those with higher stamina lose fitness at a slower rate, allowing them to maintain energy levels and perform better toward the end of games.

To keep your team performing at its best for the full 90 minutes, prioritize players with a high in-game (IG) ‘stamina’ stat.
In Ultimate Team, player fatigue is influenced by factors such as distance covered, movement intensity, and frequency of actions.

For example, goalkeepers generally move less and engage in fewer challenges, leading to slower fitness depletion than outfield players. However, the rate of fitness loss ultimately depends on in-game actions, which are controlled by the player—typically you.
There are two types of injuries in Football Club: those that prompt substitutions during a match and those that reduce a player’s fitness. In the latter case, it’s your decision whether to keep the injured player on the pitch, knowing they won’t perform at their best. Even if they remain on the field, engaging in challenges will significantly lower their fitness, especially when facing strong defenders.

To minimize the risk of injuries, it’s advisable to avoid overly aggressive actions, such as sliding tackles from behind. Additionally, repetitive strenuous activities can increase the likelihood of muscular injuries over time.
A player’s work rate, which cannot be altered in FC Ultimate Team, significantly influences the amount of fitness points he will lose during a match. It dictates the player’s tendency to occupy specific areas of the field and how he behaves when not under your direct control. This behavior is independent of your input, as it reflects the player’s intrinsic work ethic.

Unfortunately, you cannot selectively control individual players during a match to conserve their energy. Therefore, players with high work rates, whether in defense or attack, are more prone to fatigue faster due to their increased activity levels on the field.
The Instant bar, depicted as a blue bar that transitions to red during intense moments, depletes during sprints, challenges for the ball, or other exertions, and subsequently replenishes. The accumulated bar, visible as a white bar beneath the blue one, diminishes gradually over the course of a match and acts as a cap for the instant fitness bar.

A close examination of the image helps clarify any uncertainties.

The scale ranges from 1 to 5, with the largest bar gradually decreasing. In state 1, the bar is nearly full, indicating high energy levels. In state 2, the player is actively running, experiencing temporary fatigue and reduced endurance. However, the white bar remains larger, suggesting better recovery potential than in state 3.

By state 4, the player is close to exhaustion, struggling to sustain efforts and fatiguing quickly. In state 5, they reach a critical condition where further exertion increases the risk of injury, making substitution or rest essential.
