Division Rivals Explained

Division Rivals is an online seasonal competition within Ultimate Team, with a skill-driven rank system that you can play Solo or Co-Op.

In Rivals there are ten divisions plus the Elite Division, which follows Division 1, and was especially created for the best players. Each Division consists of the following elements:

  • Ranks that track your progress within a Division and grant you access to greater Weekly Rewards;
  • The various steps between Ranks are referred to as Stages;
  • Checkpoints that protect players from losing progress and keep them at the appropriate skill level.
How far you go on the ladder is determined by the outcome of each match:

  • When you win a match, you advance one Stage;
  • You’ll be able to stay in your current position if you draw;
  • Unless you’re on a Checkpoint, losing a match puts you back one Stage;
  • For each consecutive win, you’ll advance one Stage farther.
Weekly rewards and Upgrade rewards are earned by winning a set number of matches before the end of the week. When the week closes out, you receive your reward based on the Rank you’re currently in. The higher you climb in Divisions and Ranks, the better your Weekly Rewards are.

Milestones rewards are based on the number of matches you played in the season, regardless if you won or lost those matches. Therefore, you only receive them at the end of the season.

A Division is a group of players playing online in Rivals. The higher the division, the better the players are supposed to be.
There are eleven divisions. The elite division is played by the best players, while division 10 is where you can find the less experienced ones. You can see in-game how many wins you are away from each division.
The Elite Division is the tier of competition beyond Division 1. You can reach the Elite Division after progressing through Division 1. Once you have reached the Elite Division, you will continue to compete there until the end of the active Ultimate Team Season.

The Elite Division is where the best UT players can compete. All players in the Elite Division are Ranked, based on their Skill Rating, with the top 200 appearing on the Global Leaderboard. The platform groupings are: PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5; Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S; PC (Origin/Steam).
As any other player, you will start your Rivals journey in Division 10, immediately aiming to progress towards higher Ranks and Divisions while earning Weekly Rewards. At the start of each Season, progression resets to a lower Division for all players.

The Division a player rolls back to will depend on which Division finished the previous Season. From Elite to division 6, players have been relegated to two divisions, while players in divisions 7 and 8 are relegated to only one.
Except for the Elite Division, which is based on skill rating, you will get promoted or relegated depending on how many wins and losses you achieve throughout the season.
Division Rivals in Football Club 24 has a ladder system where each Division is made up of the following components:
  • Ranks that reflect your progress within a Division and unlock better Weekly Rewards;
  • Stages, which are the individual steps between Ranks;
  • Checkpoints, that prevent losing progress and ensure that players remain at their appropriate skill level.
The result of each match determines how you progress on the ladder.
  • Winning a match moves you forward one Stage (+1);
  • Drawing will keep you at your current position (+0);
  • Losing a match moves you back one Stage unless you are on a Checkpoint (-1).
When you first start playing Division Rivals, you will begin in Division 10. Division 10 will have some Stages within it that you need to get through before you can move up to Division 9, which will, in turn, have several Stages to get to Division 8, etc…
Yes. Winning two consecutive matches in a row will start a winning streak. While on a winning streak, you’ll see it indicated with a flame icon. You’ll progress to a different Stage for every consecutive win. The bonus will expire if you play a match and don’t win.
It depends on which division and stage you are in. You can see it in-game on your Rivals dashboard’s [Progress] screen.
If no checkpoint prevents you from going down, you can be relegated to a lower Division. The exception is the Elite Division. Once you make it to the Elite Division, you will remain there throughout the rest of the season.
Yes, you can. As long as you win or lose enough matches to be promoted or relegated, that will happen.
Matchmaking in Division Rivals aims to find the best possible match by looking for opponents in neighboring Stages and Divisions while taking into account the player’s physical location when determining the FC Game Data Center that the match will be played on.

Players in the Elite Division will matchmake only with other Elite Players based on Skill Rating and the player’s physical location.
It’s exactly what it sounds like – a way to rate your skills or performance in the Elite Division. With every match you play, your Skill Rating will change. It will increase or decrease based on how you do in your matches.
Who matchmake with you in the Elite Division is impacted by your skill rating. It also determines your overall ranking compared to the other Elite Division players, with the very best making it to the Top 200 Leaderboard.
Every match you play in Division Rivals will determine changes to your Skill Rating. Win a match, and your Skill rating will probably go up; lose a match, and it will probably go down. The amount that it changes depends on both your Skill Rating as well as your opponent’s.

If you win a match with someone with a higher Skill Rating than you, yours will go up more than if you won against someone with a similar or lower Skill Rating. If you draw, your Skill Rating could go up, down, or not change. That’s because if your opponent has a lower Skill Rating, yours will drop. If their Skill Rating is the same as yours, it might stay right where it is. If their Skill Rating is higher than yours, your Skill Rating could go up.
Each Elite Division match has what’s called a K-Factor of 30. That’s the most your Skill Rating can go up or down from playing a single match. The further apart two players’ Skill Ratings, the gain/loss changes accordingly.

Note that when you’re playing in Co-Op, your Skill Rating calculation is based on the highest Skill Rating player on the opponent’s team. Therefore, your teammates and opponents can earn/lose more Skill Ratings than you, depending on their Skill Rating.

Yes, the higher your division and rank are, the better your rewards will be.
Weekly Rewards in Division Rivals are earned by winning a set number of matches before the end of the week. When the week closes out, you’ll receive your reward based on the Rank you’re currently in. The higher you climb in Divisions and Ranks, the better your Weekly Rewards will be. For example, if you start the week in Div 3 but make it to Div 2, you’ll receive the rewards for finishing in Div 2.
Base and Upgrade are both weekly rewards, but the second one requires a higher amount of wins. Therefore, upgrade rewards are better than base rewards.
Division Rivals is a seasonal competition tied to the overall FUT Season, approximately six weeks long. Season Milestones is a way to earn additional rewards in Division Rivals simply by playing Rivals matches. Whether you win or lose, you’ll progress towards your Seasonal Rewards. You can earn one of the three Milestone Rewards per Division based on the Division you finish in.
The weekly and upgrade rewards are delivered every Thursday at 8:00 UTC, while the milestone rewards are delivered at the end of the season.
Once the weekly competition ends, you can claim your Weekly Rewards shortly after, either in-game or on Web and the Companion App. In some cases, you will get to choose between different reward options.

Rewards could be Coins, acks (either tradeable or untradeable), or Champions Points to help you qualify for Finals Play-Off. Meanwhile, Season Milestone rewards will be given out after a Season finishes.
You will not be rewarded for the week you don’t play since the lowest rank requires at least one win.
For each Rivals weekly campaign in Football Club 24, you win Champions qualifier points. The points you receive depend on the division you are in. Once you’ve accumulated enough points, you win a token to qualify directly for the Champions Play-Off. The unused points do carry over to the following week.

Matchmaking is different depending on whether you are playing in Division 1 to 10, or you are playing the Elite Division.

Divisions 10-1
For both Solo and Co-Op Matchmaking for Divisions 10–1, you’ll matchmake with players based on two different factors:
– Your location. This determines which FC Game Data Center location will be used for your match.
– Your Rank. This means you’ll be matched with players that have a similar Rank as you.

Elite Division Matchmaking
Elite Division Matchmaking in Division Rivals is based on two different factors:
– Your location. This determines which FC Game Data Center location will be used for your match.
– Your Skill Rating. You’ll play with players who are close to the same Skill Rating as you. As long as you have a 2200 Skill Rating or above, you’ll matchmake as if you had a 2200 Skill Rating. This is to help make it easier for higher-skilled players to find matches.

The Skill Rating factor has a larger range on the PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S versions of Football Club 24 to better accommodate the player base on these platforms. If you’re playing Co-Op, the Skill Rating of the higher-skilled player in a pair is used when matchmaking, meaning that at least two of the four potential Co-Op participants can have a similar Skill Rating.
Yes. Division players can play each other, regardless of their platform.
Yes, it is. However, when you team up with a friend, you can only play against opponents with the same platform as you.

If you don’t want to play against Co-Op pairs in Rivals, a toggle lets you choose between a mix of solo players and Co-Op groups in your matches or just vs. solo players.
Champions and Rivals in Football Club 24 are played on a dedicated server.
