How It Works

Squad Battles is a single-player game mode in FC 25 Ultimate Team. Here are three key points to know before diving in:

  • Players compete against squads created by the community from across the globe. You can engage in up to 32 single-player matches per week, which includes featured matches.

  • The competition refreshes every Sunday, and ranks are based on the average score among all participants. This means players must climb the dynamic leaderboard to earn better rewards.

  • To begin playing Squad Battles, access your Ultimate Team, navigate to ‘Play,’ and select Squad Battles.

Matches are separated into weekly competition matches and other matches. Any matches you play after the 32 weekly competition matches don’t contribute towards your weekly score, but you will still earn Coins and progress towards Objectives.

Squad Battles can be played cooperatively once you invite a player from your Friends List in the Ultimate Team™ Main Menu. The lobby Captain selects the opponent and difficulty level, but both players earn Battle Points and Coins. If one of the two players in the Co-Op Lobby has no weekly competition matches remaining, neither player will earn Battle Points from the match.

Battle Points

Your rank is determined by the total battles points you get in a single week. You earn them playing matches.

Battle Points are earned at the end of each of the first 32 Squad Battles matches each week, which make up your weekly competition matches. They’re used to determine your Rank in the weekly Squad Battles competition. If you choose to end a match early or skip a match by refreshing, you won’t earn any Battle Points.

Your battle points, earned per match, are based on your performance in the game, the difficulty of the squad you faced, and whether you won the match. Let’s now explore how these points are calculated:

Battle Points = Difficulty Bonus x (Team Rating Score + Match Result + Skill Bonus ) + Goal Bonus

  • Difficulty Bonus
The Difficulty Bonus is a coefficient that gauges the difficulty of your matches. Here are the coefficients corresponding to the difficulty level and the match result:
Difficulty Win Loss
Beginner 0.5 0.2
Amateur 0.6 0.25
Semi-Pro 0.7 0.4
Pro 1.0 0.5
World Class 1.6 0.6
Legendary 2.1 0.7
Ultimate 2.6 0.7

  • Team Ratings Score
The Team rating score depends on the team you are playing against. Essentially, it is determined by its chemistry and team rating, calculated using the following formula:
    (Team Rating x 3) + (Chemistry Rating / 2)
Team Rating Team Chemistry
Points x3 x0.5

  • Match Result
There are only two possible match results in Squad Battles: if you win, you receive 200 points, and if you lose, you receive 50 points.
Win Loss
Points 200 x50

  • Skill Bonus
Skill Rewards encompass both performance bonuses and penalties. Positive player performances are rewarded with squad battle points, while negative performances result in point deductions. In essence, Skill Rewards consist of bonuses for scored goals, shots on target, successful tackles, corners, clean sheets, pass accuracy, possession, and man of the match, as well as penalties for conceded goals, fouls, cards, and offsides. The following table illustrates the number of points awarded or deducted for each performance:
Performance Pts/Unit Max Units Max Limit
Scored Goals +40 5 +200
Shots on Target +5 10 +50
Success Tackle +1 20 +20
Corners +5 10 +50
Clean Sheets +75 1 +75
Pass Accuracy % +1 80 +80
Possession % +1 80 +80
MOTM +15 1 +15
Goals Conceded -20 4 -80
Fouls -5 4 -20
Cards -10 8 -80
Offsides -1 15 -15

  • Goal Bonus
Each goal you score awards a different number of battle points depending on the difficulty level you select.
Difficulty Level Pts/Goal Max Goals Max Pts
Beginner 20 5 100
Amateur 30 5 100
Semi-Pro 40 5 200
Pro 60 5 300
World Class 100 5 500
Legendary 140 5 700
Ultimate 160 5 800

The amount of Battle Points earned for playing a Featured Squad Battle match is not the same as you would earn for a normal Squad Battle match. Instead, the number of Battle Points you earn is based on whether you win or lose the game, and what difficulty you played the match on. The specific Battle Point values are below:
Difficulty Level Win Loss
Beginner 1500 1400
Amateur 1550 1400
Semi-Pro 1600 1400
Pro 1700 1400
World Class 1800 1400
Legendary 1900 1400
Ultimate 2000 1400
