FC 26 ACCELERATE
FC 26 Accelerate is an expansion to the player movement system, dividing them into seven unique archetypes.
What is Accelerate?
Accelerate was introduced in FIFA 23, exclusively on next-gen platforms, to refine player movement and running mechanics. Inspired by the subtle differences in real-life footballers’ movements, even among players with similar pace, Accelerate replicates these variations on the virtual pitch.
FC 26 Accelerate enhances gameplay realism while also emphasizing player personalities and introducing a wider range of player types. It categorizes players into seven distinct running styles based on their acceleration and sustained speed capabilities.
How Types are Assigned
AcceleRATE is automatically assigned to players based on a combination of their Acceleration, Height, Agility, and Strength Attributes. However, Acceleration and Sprint Speed remain the primary factors determining a player’s overall speed.
The player type designation is set before kick-off, meaning it can be influenced by attribute changes like Chemistry before the match begins. However, it is not affected by attribute adjustments that occur during the game, such as stamina depletion.
Frequently Asked Questions
FC 26 Accelerate introduces an enhanced player movement system that categorizes players into three distinct archetypes: Controlled, Explosive, and Lengthy.
This system is designed to highlight different running styles by grouping players based on how quickly they accelerate and how well they maintain top speed.

Lengthy is the most popular of the seven Accelerate types. These players are exceptionally powerful runners and are often considered overpowered.
There are seven Accelerate archetypes but these three are the main ones:
- Explosive
Quicker to start, but the acceleration rate slows down. - Lengthy
It starts slower but will thrive over longer distances. - Controlled
Accelerate uniformly in a controlled manner.
Chemistry Styles can influence a player’s Accelerate type. Before kick-off, the game determines whether a player fits into the Lengthy, Explosive, or Controlled archetype based on their attributes after applying Chemistry Style boosts. This means a player originally classified as Controlled could shift to the Lengthy type if their boosted stats meet the necessary criteria.
However, not all players are eligible for this change. Some attributes may remain too low even after the boost, and factors like height, also used to determine archetype, cannot be modified.

As FC 26 accelerate is mainly based on Agility, Strength, and Acceleration, only Chemistry Styles that boost those Attributes can change a player’s Accelerate type.
If you want to make your player Explosive, you will need to use Chemistry Styles that impact their Agility, such as Finisher, Artist, and Engine.
If you want to make your player Lengthy, you will need to use Chemistry Styles that impact their Strength, such as Architect, Backbone, Sniper, Hawk, Marksman, Sentinel, and Anchor.

You can view a player’s Accelerate type in-game by viewing the player stats page from the Team Management section.
No. Accelerate is an exclusive feature for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Accelerate Types
Accelerate is an expansion to the player movement system, dividing players into seven unique archetypes:
- Explosive
These players are quicker to start, but their acceleration rate slows down. They are shorter, more agile, and can quickly cover short distances and get ahead of their opponents, even if that means slowing down after the initial burst of acceleration. - Mostly Explosive
These players act as 70% explosive and 30% controlled. - Controlled Explosive
These players act as half explosive, half controlled. - Controlled
Most players in FC 26 will fall into the Controlled type as they accelerate uniformly in a controlled manner. - Controlled Lenghty
These players act as half lenghty, half controlled. - Mostly Lenghty
These players act as 70% lenghty and 30% controlled. - Lengthy
These players start slower but will thrive over longer distances. They are taller, stronger, and need a bit more time to get going, but they can catch up to anyone and even surpass them, provided they have enough distance.

In short, Explosive players can likely do better at short distances and one-on-one situations than Lengthy players who will do better over long distances, such as in breakaways after a through ball behind the defense, for example.
