At the beginning of the game, all the FUT player cards belong to the regular category. They have the innate characteristics and attributes of the player. Only the game system can create non-regular cards.

Team of the Week items are assigned on a weekly basis to a selection of players based on their real-life performances throughout various leagues across the world. TOTW gold cards are exclusive to in-form players featuring an overall rating of 75 or higher.
TOTWs are announced every Wednesday at 3pm (UK time) and the items are released in packs in the same day three hours later. The first TOTW is released on September 18, 2019 and the last one year later.
The rating boost is always relative to the most recent TOTW card, or eventually another special card (except TOTY and TOTS), no matter if the player moved to another club or if he was upgraded. The position of the players in these cards may change if, in the previous week, they played really well in a different position.
It is possible for a player to have more than one TOTW item, if they have been assigned in different weeks. These cards differ from each other only in the ratings and attributes (eventually in the position and dynamic image too). The more recent is the card, the higher is its rating.
Gold players receive upgrades according to the following table.

Q: What is the Team of the Week?
A: Team of the Week, commonly abbreviated to TOTW, is a team of IF players released on a weekly basis. Players are chosen based on real-life performances throughout various leagues across the world.
Q: When the TOTW was released for the first time?
A: The TOTW was released for the first time in FIFA 10. Since then, almost every week a selection of 18 or 23 players is released in unique items.
Q: Who chooses the players for the Team of the Week?
A: A dedicated team from EA Sports. You can learn here how they are chosen.
Q: How many players are selected for each TOTW?
A: Each TOTW has 23 players. However, when there are lack of quality players, like during the Summer, Electronic Arts may select only 18 players.
Q: It is possible to have two TOTW available at the same time?
A: No. TOTW never overlaps. As soon as the new one is released, the old one is gone.
Q: How long are TOTW cards available in FIFA packs?
A: These cards are available in packs for exactly one week. After this, they are replaced by their regular cards in packs again, and are still available via the FUT transfer market.
Q: I already own this player. Why my version wasn’t upgraded to the new TOTW item?
A: If you own the regular card of a TOTW player, your card will keep unchanged. If you want the improved version, you will need to buy the corresponding TOTW version in the market or cross your fingers when opening a pack in that week.
Q: Do TOTW items replace the respective regular cards?
A: To each one of the TOTW players of this team, it is assigned a new black card which becomes available in packs for a week, replacing the corresponding regular card. In other words, in the week a player gets his TOTW cards in packs, it is impossible to find his regular card there. Q: Are certain stats upgraded to reflect a player’s TOTW performance?
A: Yes, if a player made three assists in a single match, for example, his passing stats would likely receive a significant upgrade.
Q: Can I own the regular and the TOTW item of the same player in my club?
A: You can have the regular card and the TOTW card of the same player in your club. However, you cannot use them both in your squad at the same time.
Q: Is it possible a player be released in a new position?
A: The position of the players in TOTW cards may change if, in the previous week, they played really well in a different position.
Q: Can I play against the TOTW?
A: Yes, you can play against the Team of the Week in the ‘TOTW Challenge’ or in Squad Battles.
Q: What happens when domestic leagues stop?
A: Usually, the TOTW players selection is based on the domestic leagues represented in the game. In extraordinary situations, like when these leagues are interrupted, players who have played well for their national teams can also be selected.
Q: Why are TOTW items so important?
A: TOTW items are very important for OTW cards owners. Each time a player gets a new TOTW card, his OTW, if exists, also gets upgraded. They are also important for Weekend League players, since most of the FUT Champions cards awarded every week are based on them.

A: Yes, you can play against the Team of the Week in the ‘TOTW Challenge’ or in Squad Battles.
Q: What happens when domestic leagues stop?

Q: Why are TOTW items so important?
A: TOTW items are very important for OTW cards owners. Each time a player gets a new TOTW card, his OTW, if exists, also gets upgraded. They are also important for Weekend League players, since most of the FUT Champions cards awarded every week are based on them.
Team of the Week items are assigned on a weekly basis to a selection of players based on their real-life performances throughout various leagues across the world. TOTW silver cards are exclusive to in-form players featuring an overall rating from 65 to 74.
Icons items work in a very similar way of regular cards but they replicate the attributes based on players’ skills and flair during their careers.
Unlike what happens with the other players, the Icons can’t receive new special items improving their stats. As the game progresses, users can change many of the card features such as the preferred position and preferred chemistry style. However, it is not possible to improve the rating or the stats in a permanent way. If you want the best card of an Icon player, you should try to buy or pull from a pack his Moment version, if available on that moment. Icon items are also available on FUT Draft, Guaranteed SBCs and Swap Icons.

Each Player Token can only be redeemed in that specific ICON Swaps release and does not roll over to the next ICON Swaps release.
Q: How can I improve an Icon card?

The Ones to Watch items dynamically upgrade and have an opportunity to increase in ratings throughout the season. If you have a OTW item in your club, its ratings will automatically match that of the players latest TOTW, MOTM, TOTT, Hero or Record Breaker item. The better the player performs in real life, the higher their ratings become.
