FIFA 23 PLAYER CARDS
There are dozens of FIFA 23 Player Card types, with unique designs and colors, making it complex to understand the role of each item.
Player Cards
FIFA 23 Ultimate Team lets you build your dream squad from thousands of players worldwide. In FUT, players are represented by Player Items – special shields showing each player’s unique in-game ratings and attributes.
Every base player in FUT is Bronze, Silver, or Gold, and has a Common or Rare designation. In addition to these item types, there are also other Special Item designs that recognize select players’ real-world past or present achievements, performances, or participation in various tournaments, as well as prestigious ICON and Heroes items for some of football’s greatest ever players.
FUT also includes an in-game quality filter to help you to search for specific versions of players on the Transfer Market, meaning you’ll be able to search for players by their item type, making it easier to search for and sign new players with multiple Special Items.

Base items are released on
According to their rating, base items have different qualities: gold (higher than 74), silver (65-74), or bronze (lower than 65). In addition, each of these cards can be rare or common. Rare cards are assigned to players with standout attributes or characteristics compared to similar players in their position or league or with an outstanding international reputation.
Base items are assigned to every player when the game goes out. In FUT, more than 16,000 day one cards correspond to as many players. Base items are always in packs, for the whole the year, except when it is being released another item of that player.
Cards updated because players move to other clubs are also considered base items, despite not being released on day 1.

Day one cards’cards’ ratings and stats are calculated according to the player’ performance and popularity in the previous 365 days. Therefore, improving the rating or the stats of these cards is impossible.
It is impossible to improve a base item’s rating or the stats.
Every single regular item can be of two types: common or rare. Most gamers think that rare cards, with their bright and luminous aspects, are better than the others. They believe that rare cards were created to help players easily distinguish the best cards. It is not true.
The rare cards are items that have something unique. In the case of players’ cards, for example, the rare cards are assigned to players that have something that no other player has. It can be the tallest goalkeeper of his league, the only player from a country in a particular league, or even a CB with an exceptional attribute compared to players with a similar overall.
These items are usually more valuable than the others, mainly because their discard price is higher.

In FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, there are two different Heroes cards: the regular version, available from launch and recognizing a memorable moment from their club career; and the FIFA World Cup version, available from November 11 and celebrating an essential contribution to the international stage.
World Cup versions have improved ratings compared to their base items, and the player’s image is replaced by Marvel art.
Regular Hero items are released at launch, while World Cup versions go out on November 11.
The overall rating of Regular Hero items can go from 85 to 89. World Cup versions always have a higher ranking, depending on their memorable international moments.
You cannot improve a Hero item.
Hero items always have three chemistry points when playing in their preferred positions. They will also count as two increments towards their league chemistry threshold and one for the nation.
Icon Item
Icon items are assigned exclusively to some of retired greatest football players of
Every Icon has four unique versions: Base, Mid, and Prime, reflecting a particular era of their careers, and Campaigns. Each version has different ratings and stats and is available in packs in another period.
Each Icon version is available in packs at different times:
- Base version
It often (but not always) reflects a time in the player’s career when they were still developing and had not yet reached their full potential. These items are available in packs from the launch until mid-December 2022 only. - Mid version
It often (but not always) reflects an ICON later in their career when they had to adapt their playstyle to stay near the top of their game. These items are available in packs from the launch until mid-February 2023 only. - Prime version
It often (but not always) reflects an era of an ICON’s career where they were consistently at the height of their skills and abilities. These items are available in packs from mid-December 2022 until the end of FUT 23. - Campaign version
Whereas Base, Mid, and Prime versions tell the stories of an ICON’s career, this version is released on Campaign ICON releases as part of FUT campaigns.
Icons items work similarly to base cards since they are always available from day 1, and every Icon player has their card. However, they replicate the attributes based on players’ skills and flair during their careers.
It is impossible to improve an Icon item’s rating or the stats. However, if you have the lower version, you can try to buy/earn the Mid, Prime, or Moment version, if available. Icon items are also available in other ways like FUT Draft, Special SBCs, and Swaps.
