FC 25 Difficulty Levels

Difficulty Levels

Difficulty levels play a crucial role in maintaining player engagement by preventing boredom or frustration resulting from gameplay that is either too easy or too challenging. Striking this balance poses a significant challenge for video game designers.

Upon starting FC 25, players are prompted to choose a difficulty level for their profile.

There are seven FC 25 difficulty levels when playing against CPU AI:

  • Beginner
    You have no experience playing FC;
  • Amateur
    You have little to no experience playing FC;
  • Semi-Pro
    You have experience playing FC and play casually;
  • Professional
    You are experienced at FC and want to be challenged;
  • World Class
    You are an expert at FC;
  • Legendary
    You are an expert at FC and want to face only the best;
  • Ultimate
    This harder level is only available in Squad Battles.

Adjusting the Difficulty Level in FC 25

You can change the difficulty settings that affect the behavior of AI-controlled opponents in FC 25. It allows you to tailor the challenge when playing against the computer to suit your preferences and current experience in the game.

You cannot change Difficulty settings at any time during a match, so as much as possible, choose one that you are comfortable playing on.

How To Change Difficulty Level in FC 25
  1. From the main Ultimate Team screen, navigate to [Settings];
  2. Select [Game Settings];
  3. Once in the ‘Game Settings’ screen, press R1/RB once to go to [Match];
  4. Scroll down to [Difficulty Level];
  5. Use the directional pad or left analog stick to set the difficulty to your desired level.
Your level affects game settings and can be changed before going to a match on the [Game Settings] screen.
Competitor Mode

Competitor Mode

When you turn on Competitor Mode, you face more challenging opponents that simulate the play style of some of the world’s best FC players.

Added to FIFA in 2020, it gives the CPU AI a better understanding of skill moves, dribbling, spacing, and tactics, and it will constantly look to create better scoring opportunities. You can expect aggressive passes, complex skill moves, and even a change of tactics and mentality if you are leading against them.

How To Enable Competitor Mode
  1. From the main Ultimate Team screen, navigate to [Settings];
  2. Select [Game Settings];
  3. Once in the ‘Game Settings’ screen, press R1/RB once to go to [Match];
  4. Scroll down to [Competitor Mode];
  5. Use the directional pad or left analog stick to turn it on.
You can only enable this feature on Legendary or Ultimate difficulties.

Player Based Difficulty

When you activate the Player Based Difficulty setting, the top players on the CPU AI team will showcase enhanced intelligence while under control.

Introduced to FIFA in 2021, this setting doesn’t treat all players uniformly. The difficulty level of individual players is assessed separately. For instance, when playing against a CPU team at the professional level, exceptional players on that team will perform as if they were playing at the next level up (world class). Conversely, the weakest players on the team will act as if they were playing at the next level down (semi-pro).

How To Enable Player Based Difficulty
  1. From the main Ultimate Team screen, navigate to [Settings];
  2. Select [Game Settings];
  3. Once in the ‘Game Settings’ screen, press R1/RB once to go to [Match];
  4. Scroll down to [Player Based Difficulty];
  5. Use the directional pad or left analog stick to turn it on.
This feature is available in all difficulties.
